  1. I find it to be a mix- depends on the cruise, how many people have signed up etc.. A lot of times the staff gives us their direct lines to reach.

One I went to 5 years ago was good, even one of the comedians came but he was really hung over so didn't say much- but made an effort.

In general they are fun to attend and often a bunch of people do lunch or a cabin crawl afterwards.

My friend Dave from Dayton, actually met his wife at a M&G!!

    Thats awesome!

  2. I'm saddened by a few of the mean responses to what those ladies who missed the ship must feel as a gut wrenching situation. I suppose none of the posters who answered brutally never made a mistake or had an accident before. I praise their superiority and good fortune. For the rest of us mere mortals, bad things do happen to good people. I don't deny the young ladies being at fault, but my humanity causes me to feel bad for them none the less.

    Agreed!

  3. The pirate ship bar in Bermuda is even closer to the ship than Señor Frog's is in Nassau. It's incredibly close. I can't believe that they didn't realize that the crowd there had to be dwindling as sail away time neared.

I'm on the Breakaway now. We watched them miss the ship. Yes, it was entirely their fault. Yes, the repercussions are solely financial. Nevertheless, I'm sure there was a lot of stress, blame, and family disharmony that followed and will continue. I feel sorry for them.

I feel sorry for them as well. As for the rude heartless posters I hope I never cruise on the same ship with them.

Thanks for posting. Enjoy the last night of your cruise.

  4. We are sailing from LAX in Oct and have had almost no response to our scheduled M&G. In fact we decided to cancel it. I checked the other Oct sailings on the Jewel and found the same thing: no activity. On our last cruise, in April, a longer one on the Pearl we had a huge group with all kinds of activities. I am wondering, what has been others experiences in the past few months? Is the lack of interest in the Oct Jewel M&Gs just due to the type of people cruising the Mex Riv or is this a trend we might see develop in the future? I have never, in all my days of sailing NCL or any ship seen one that had to be cancelled due to poor attendence.

On my last NCL BA cruise to Bermuda at the end of June no M&G. I tried but like you said there was a lack of interest. That was a first for me as well.

  5. I'll politely disagree with you. I don't think it has a THING to do with food waste but rather REVENUE. I for one have never ordered anything at the specialty offerings while leaving significant portions uneaten on my plate. 12 cruises on NCL so far and I've never witnessed a table being left with gross amounts of uneaten food. Just my observation and opinions of course

    Agreed!

  6. If you look, I was responding to someone who said Ruth's Chris was much more expensive and I just validated their comment. Never compared the two with regard to food, service or anything else.

I saw what you responded to. You said what you eat at Cagney's would cost you $60 at Ruth's Chris. I am saying you can not compare the two.

  7. This sounds horrible! Looks like NCL will no longer have specialty restaurants.

The one place you can get away from the crowds after fighting for a lounge chair by the tiny pool all day on the BA class ships and the search for a table at lunch.

Unless of course you are lucky enough to pay more money and get a vibe pass, where your actually paying for a chair! Or the Haven where you can have lunch and not wait for a table.

I can't see paying for the dining package and not being able to get a table because people made reservations for dessert! Nothing special about that.

Whats next a day pass for the Haven:eek:

  8. No worries! :) Just trying to keep the facts straight.

For suites it doesn't when one gets the packages as a booking promo (gratuities have been always included for suites), just like the poster you replied to.

Thats great info.. I will call NCL tomorrow and I hope thats the case.

  9. Really? really? More complaining? The show is 39 bucks when I was on the epic I talked to a guy who had seen it in Vegas and said it's much more money in Vegas. You are getting to go on a cruise which not everyone has that opportunity, which I have said before on here. I found a Cruise review site similar to cruise critic and somebody on that site wrote a blog about cruise critic saying if you are a new cruiser and one true info on cruising don't go to Cruise credit because their boards are full of nothing but people whining and complaining. Let's show them that they are wrong and stop the whining and complaining.

Cruise Critic has the word "critic" in it for a reason. This site provides valuable information from experienced cruisers who know what the cruise experience can be -- and who legitimately recognize when it fails to meet that reasonable standard.

If you do not appreciate the value or mission of this site, my suggestion would be to avoid it altogether. Hijacking this thread or making disparaging comments about the site as a whole is not a productive use of your time or ours.
