  1. He will have to check in separately and all the guests in the Haven suite will be expected to stay together for boarding as you are personally escorted to your suite. You could either check in a little later or choose a spot to meet. Spice H2O at the stern might be less crowded than some place like the atrium.

  2. Your questions are lovely and you will really enjoy a back to back experience. If you have the same room for each cruise you will not have to pack. If you have a different room you will pack and the cabin steward will take care of moving your belongings to your new room.

On debarkation day back to back cruisers are usually asked to gather in a certain area of the ship. It could be the atrium, theater or a lounge, depending on the number of back to back cruisers. Once all the other passengers have left, you will then be escorted through customs and back on to the ship where you will get your new ship card. Then you can roam around the ship saying, "Wow, it's quiet here".

There is no discount but we have received a fruit basket on the second leg and champagne another time.

You will not be bored on the Vista. We are going in February and I don't think eight days will be enough time to experience everything the ship has to offer.

  3. American table is the new menu. It gives you more flexibility to choose your sides for your meal, and has some new items like a different flat bread appetizer each night.

The American feast is held on elegant night and is similar to the old menus. Lobster tails are still available on the American feast menu.

  4. Aft balconies are quite lovely and you are going to have a great time. They tend to be a little roomier, the view is more sweeping, and you get to hear the wake as the ship moves through the water.

We frequently book aft balconies and rarely have had difficulty finding shade. Remember you are free to move around the ship and enjoy the Serenity deck or the Promenade which both offer shaded areas.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  5. The cabins have a surprising amount of storage so you probably won't have to dig into a suitcase under the bed.

You could bring inexpensive hangers with you and leave them behind at the end if your cruise. One hanger will do for a shirt and slacks.

I know you are in vacation, but there is a laundry on the ship and that would enable you to pack about 60% of your original amount. You would save on checked baggage fees as well.

Washable mix and match outfits are great. No one ever noticed if I repeated an outfit.

  6. My sister's suitcase arrived two days late with tire marks on the outside and sawdust on the inside.

We fly with carry-on luggage because we can't get direct flights from our home airport and our checked bags prefer travelling by taxi after a flight.

If I think I MIGHT wear something, it doesn't get packed.

  7. You will be sent to the Lido deck when you board the ship. All the food options for lunch are here, but there are plenty of them. There are several buffet and dessert stations, a deli, Guys burgers, a burrito bar, pizza, Mongolian Wok, and Tandoori station, depending on what ship you are on. The stairs beside the dessert station will take you up to a rotisserie, pasta, or fish and chips.

The dining rooms and the steakhouse will be open for supper. You should be well fed the first day.

I think the bars in the lobby and on the Lido are open when guests arrive. Bar waiters also circulate on the Lido and you can order whatever you fancy.

  8. Normally on a B2B you would assemble in the atrium at a given time with your passports and customs cards. Then, once the ship is clear of debarking passengers, you are escorted off the ship, through customs and back on the ship with a new sign and sail card.

I say normally because there are a pile of diamonds and platinums on this cruise and the ship doesn't leave San Juan until 10 pm. They might give everyone a transit card and say, " Go enjoy the city".

It would be great to hear from someone who has been on a back to back with a San Juan transition.

  9. 1 There are mini fridges but they are not very cold. We usually prop the cupboard door open to let the fridge work better. You could try the old ice bucket inside the fridge trick.

2 The smoking area is a spot with ashtrays. You can only smoke in designated areas.

3 It takes a long time to get to the mouth of the river and the weather looks chilly for embarkation day. If you dressing layers you should have enough clothes for day two.

    See you on the Dream!

  10. You might have to wait a little longer to disembark, but you can then get an in- transit card and go explore San Juan. When you return later in the day you can get your new card.

We are on the same B 2 B and I am not sure how long people will have to wait to reboard since the ship sails later. The last 2 times we left from San Juan it was about 2:30 before we could board.

  11. We took a kayak tour. I don't know the company the ship used, but it was cool to watch the trail of light coming off our paddles as we got closer to the lagoon. This was one of the best tours we have taken, purely because of the amazing light display in the bay.

The only downside is that it is a bit of a drive from San Juan.
