  1. Hi

I found this information on the famous "owl" website. Hope it s useful.4. Re: How long from Halifax to Lunenburg via Peggy's Cove?

    Hi Florida!

With no dawdling along the way, it would take about three hours to drive between Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg if you followed the coastal roads, rather than Rt. 103 (a super-2 freeway) or Route 3. Of course, you will stop at many places en route, so allow at least twice this time.

Some of the highlights along the way include:

    - Route 329 aroung Bayswater and the Aspotagan Peninsula. This road passes some sparkling, but chilly, Atlantic Ocean beaches, small fishing towns, a few oomphy houses and also the memorial to those who died in the terrible Swissair crash ten years ago.

    - Chester town. A picturesque, wealthy waterfront town, well worth a stroll around. There's a ferry (no cars) to Tancook Island, a populated island out in the bay, and if you have the time, Tancook shows what old salt living was like before cars became commonplace.

    - Indian Point and Oakland, reached by an unnumbered, paved road southwest from Martins River. There are fishing villages along the way, culminating in the best view of the famous three churches of Mahone Bay town.

    - Another unnumbered paved road starting south of Mahone Bay town, past Maders Cove and Sunnybrook. You get a lovely view of Princes Inlet along this narrow road, which features a mixture of modest summer cottages alongside some of the most expensive real estate in Lunenburg County. Don't take Route 3 between Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. It's uninteresting, and does not follow the water. Follow the unnumbered coastal road.

    - I'm saving the best for last. Beyond Lunenburg, take Route 332 southwest to Riverport and then follow the Lahave River north to Bridgewater. The road runs right along the water much of the way, unobstructed by expensive houses between the pavement and the water. There are a lot of traditional homes with panoramic vistas around every bend and point of land along the Lahave. For the very best savor of Nova Scotia coastal scenery, follow this way.

Happy travels, and let me know if I can help further!

  2. The Bio bay is amazing. There will be trails of light drifting behind your kayak and paddles. It is a bit of a drive, but the experience is hard to duplicate anywhere else. You can see fish light up the organisms in the water. We loved this tour and it is one of our all time favourites.

  3. We were on the Festivale in 1994 for our first cruise. Everything was spectacular in our eyes. The ports were exotic, the sparkling baked Alaskas the last night and the artfully arranged Midnight buffet. The had a hairy chest contest by the pool. Some things never change.

Our outside room had a queen sized bed and a tiny, perfect bathroom. Our cabin steward also got very "creative" with whatever he found.
