Now I'm getting a "new" thing:   What is arrival status is "YELLOW"?   I'm still in the "Green" lane.

Please double check all of your answers…especially medical. Assuming no app glitch, some answer that you gave puts you in a category where you may be denied boarding. It is odd that you have a status of yellow and yet a green lane so hopefully it is a glitch or a simple issue with your answers.

  2. I was put in the yellow lane in January since I had contact with someone with covid 12 days prior to embarkment. I contacted Princess 3 times to see what this meant. Each time I was told that I would be evaluated at the pier, maybe given a covid test but to certainly come to the ship. My TA was given the same response.

Well, silly me, I believed them. Took my 3 negative covid test results etc, etc and flew to Ft. Lauderdale. Once we found someone who even knew what to do with a “yellow” lane we were sent to the medical area. The Dr. Asked why I was there. I told her that I was 12 days out and it put me in the yellow lane.  Immediately she said that I could not board. Nope…no evaluation, no covid test. She was nice about it. I asked if it was automatic. She said yes.  That was it. We were given a form letter with my last name spelled wrong and not even shown where to exit the building.

Don’t get me wrong. In January that was the protocol in place. I answered the questions honestly. But like the OP, I am still dumbfounded that my trip was not automatically canceled. It really hurt that I tried to get to the bottom of things and was given the wrong answer.

I was supposed to be on a B2B. By the time we left the building my second cruise was gone from the Medallion app so we made plans to both go home. The Monday after the second cruise started I got a call asking why I was not on board. Sigh. This Princess employee was wonderful and encouraged me to contact customer service. I sent a letter in January and have yet to receive a response.

  3. For anyone that needs to know: We both tested negative on our Friday tests. Flew to the port and was told emphatically that I was denied boarding. No assessment, no questions, no test, just no.

For my mental health I need everyone to know that I contacted Princess 3 separate times and asked very specific questions each time. I was told I would be assessed, likely tested again and would not be automatically denied so come to the port.

There was no one from Princess in the terminal. We were handed a form letter with our name spelled incorrectly and left to find our own way out of the security area of the terminal.

The letter indicates that Customer Service will contact us but we have had no communication yet.

So disappointed in the way that this has been handled. Not that I was denied but that I was given incorrect information, summarily dismissed at the terminal and have had no contact.

It looks like last minute cancellations have been strong.

Earlier in the week, the expected passenger count was around 1500.

A crew member just told me this morning that the count will be closer to 800.

That is just amazing. Asuming I get out of the yellow lane and on the ship say hello to the tall guy in a Packers polo shirt!

  5. Tomorrow morning Tony Stark & I will bundle up to brave the line at our testing site. They don’t take reservations and your wait is mostly outside. Lucky me! It will be -2 at 8am.  This should tell everyone why I am hoping all the cosmic tumblers align so that I may board the CB and sail south into the warmth. I may thaw out by the time we reach St. Thomas.

Our tests are guaranteed by midnight but this location has been fast for even the basic, not guaranteed tests. Assuming that tumbler number one slips quietly into place with 2 negative results we will head to Chicago to catch our plane on Saturday.

Flying out of O’Hare in January would be tumbler number 2. Come on Southwest. We are counting on you.

The last tricky little tumbler is getting out of the dreaded “yellow lane” when we arrive at the port. We are in the first boarding group so they can take as much time as they want, just don’t send me home…it is going to be even colder next week!

CB was our first Princess Cruise many moons ago. Looking forward to returning. This will be my first B2B experience. Can’t wait.

On the Caribbean Princess right now.  Full capacity (all berths)is 3500..  Last week there were 2500 passengers.  This week there are 1001!  No waits for elevators, excellent service, happy staff and passengers.  Passengers following the masking protocols too.

An interesting tidbit from the CD:  over 500 passengers are first time Princess cruisers.

Would you mind checking on the numbers for the next to weeks? We arrive on Sunday. Thanks.

have called pvp, tried chat, sent e mail to pvp and all to no avail. trying to cancel jan 8th sky princess. curious what happens if i am unable to cancel prior to sailing.

For what it is worth, my TA told me today that she would be out of the office after 4pm on Friday. If our Covid tests come back positive after 4pm she said that I could call Princess directly or just not show up and she would cancel the cruise on Monday. A bit unnerving but that is what she said.

We had a similar situation with insurance with our credit card.  We were told we would get a refund, but had to wait for the final date shown to use the FCC (Dec 31, 2022 for you) and then if we truly didn’t use the FCC by the deadline we would get the refund at that time.  Maybe you have a chance at something similar.

I ended up waiting to cancel until the penalty was 100%, then was able to get the full refund immediately.  That situation was because my husband was in a terrible accident and unable to travel. Our situations weren’t similar, but hopefully you can get the refund if you wait for the FCC to run out.

Thank you for that information. I will certainly check into that possibility. At this point our penalty would be 100%.

I would check with your TA or PCL if you booked with them.  You may be able to use the insurance cancellation route?

I have insurance but used the book with confidence instead at 30 days out.  I believe I had a choice.
Only difference I see, I did not have to fill out a claim, and I rebooked then.

Do check it out tomorrow and see what your options are.  Good luck.

Thank you for a glimmer of hope. I will check tomorrow.

Right, that's where I figured the amount that would be refunded as cash to my credit card. That was my major concern: canceling before the amount to the card decreased and the amount as an FCC increased. The two amounts ought to have always been the same, but I would MUCH rather have a credit on my card that a FCC which I may never be able to use.

Likewise it appears that since Princess will give a FCC (that we won’t be able to use) due to their change in policy for under 30 days, I will not be able file a claim with my private insurance. Had I canceled last week, I would have lost my money with Princess but would have been able to file a claim. While the change in policy may be nice for those who did not have insurance, it negates mine.

  11. OP

Husband tested positive , I tested negative. So, now…the Health assessment says “had covid in the last 10 days”. My husband will be in the clear. I will need to answer the “in close contact in the last 14 days” Yes as he was having symptoms at that time. My TA is sympathetic but clueless. The Live chat copied out what I can find on the website with the added confirmation that my Green Lane will be changed to Yellow. Their physician will “assess” me at the time. What criteria they will be using does not seem to be public knowledge.  So there does not seem to be a way to get a feel for if i will be denied boarding before we fly to FLL.  Oddly in the current climate of rising cases I would expect it would be harder for me to be granted permission to board, yet I will need to fly, stay at a hotel and use transfers to get to the port to be denied. Sigh.

  12. I finally found that Princess info before I fell asleep last night. Thank you for posting it to confirm that I was looking at current information.

The squishy part is where they determine if we can go on or not…an out an out No would be more useful.

As for us…certainly a close, close contact. One of my children who has had the booster, and covid in August started showing symptoms on his second night at our house. He will be here his entire 14 days. Meanwhile, I think it all becomes a mute point because my husband tested positive on a home test yesterday. We will be getting PCR tests tomorrow and I think that seals the deal. The results from tomorrow will be within the 14 day window.

Now to just figure out how this all words with Princess and the insurance etc. Wish me luck. As was being discussed in another thread, this was our attempt at using up our March 2020 FCC. I hope we can get the money we added for this trip back from the insurance. If we lose the original FCC so be it. Not likely that we will be able to use it before the end of 2022.

  13. This is the Question in the health assessment:

In the 14 days prior to embarkation, were you identified as a close contact of someone with COVID-19?*

Has anyone had to answer this question yes? If so, what happens? Are we automatically unable to go or do we get sent to the yellow lane and need to be tested again?

To be clear, I am just trying to determine what will happen…I am not looking to circumvent any of the rules.

Yeah, we're supposed to be on the Caribbean Princess two weeks from tomorrow. I feel like with these skyrocketing cases, anything is now possible. The first "hurdle" will be to see if my family of four all tests negative two days prior. We're all vaxxed, and we mask up regularly, but who even knows at this point whether it's enough.

We board the CB the week after you. This all feels like a rerun of March 2020 where our original cruise was canceled.
