The rules for reopening theaters in our area:

    a) Family groups or couples can sit next to each other

    b) Between each family group or couple there must be two empty seats on each side

    c) Every other row will not be used

I am glad your theaters are opening! I would be curious, numerically, if skipping one row makes the 6ft or if it is “close enough”. It would depend on the theater also. I would guess that the theater on the Regal would need to skip 2 rows to get anywhere close. (No argument meant, simply theorizing)

  2. 🙂 Ok, let me try again. Forget I have a husband who wants to sit with me 🙂

The conversation seemed to be on what adaptations would be needed without a vaccine and many sources claim that would be social distancing. My comment was coming from a mathematical perspective. Frequently I see people comment about skipping seats in theaters, planes etc. The distance needed is a circle with a radius of 6 ft.  The space in front, behind and diagonally is often forgotten. This changes the seating significantly.

To be clear, I am not endorsing social distancing as the cure and if it is not a requirement then all bets are off. Will cruising adapt? Certainly. Will it be a product where I wish to spend my travel dollars? That is yet to be seen.

  3. Just a few thoughts on the theater suggestion of every other seat...that would mean I can not sit with my husband? Also, social distancing is 6ft. It is a 6ft radius around you so at least 2 empty seats to each side and 1 or 2 rows in front of you and behind you.

For the future cruise credit, does it go back to the person who paid, or to each passenger? My booking is myself and 3 kids (one of whom is not mine) and I paid everything. It would be worthless to me if the kids (especially the one who isn't mine) got the FCC?

unfortunately this is what the website says:

Future Cruise Credits (FCC) are non-refundable and non-transferrable. They may be applied to any new or existing booking not yet paid in full on a Princess cruise or cruisetour departing on or before December 31, 2021. The FCC does not have to be used on the same itinerary that was cancelled.

Future Cruise Credits will automatically be applied to each guest’s Captain's Circle account after they have cancelled. FCCs will not be available instantly and may take up to 10 business days to be processed; no need to call to Princess before this time.

  5. They know. There is a list of who has paid the auto tip and who has removed them. Since you paid the auto tip, the individuals will be able to keep the contents of your envelope for themselves. Had you removed the auto tips, they would have turned the envelope over to the tip pool to be shared as part of the pool.

I understand how this works and generally why but it has been frustrating that in order reward amazing service I have to leave the tip in place for the not amazing service. It doesn't happen all the time. Typically leaving the auto tip is not an issue but we have had a couple times where we seriously considered taking it off.

  6. Had a thought last night...too bad we cant contact princess or have enough people post about how sad this is and hopefully princess will bring back october sailings to the carib....i also noticed hardly any to none in October for hawaii out of LA...uggh:(

Wish I had any hope that this would make a difference....

  7. Yeah, I saw a couple of review from that day. Not sure that it is enough for me to skip one of his tours but I was thinking maybe taking just the beach tour and not the land version. Less transfers, waiting for other people or possibilities of something going wrong.

  8. I totally agree. While we were looking for October 2018 seeing that there are no october sailings doing the 10 eastern we are not holding our breathe that there will be any in 2018 so are now looking at doing it in April 2018. We loved the water temp in October. Last March water was a bit cool for me..I think caribbean I think warm clear water. Lets hope April waters are warmer than March and not too many Spring breakers on the 4/9/18 cruise.

Hmm. I hadn't thought of the water temperature being noticeably cooler in the spring. My first reaction was to look in April/May also, but I need to rethink my life [emoji6]. A large amount of the appeal is too be warm...since it snowed here yesterday...

  9. Often they are in Canada NE in October.

I am just sad to see the date creep later and later. 10 years ago I was able to go to the Caribbean all through September which is a great time for us to travel. Now, I am fairly certain that Princess has abandoned that time frame partially due to hurricane potential...having been on a seriously ill fated hurricane cruise myself. But still sad.

  10. Was disappointed to see the Royal doesn't start in the Caribbean until November 5th next year. In 2015 we cruised starting on October 1st. 2016 we are leaving on October 27th. The November 5th start for a 10 day cruise pushes us into unmovable work obligations. Sigh.
