Great - I'm glad it worked out for you.

What was new in "the setup now through immigration/customs"? Did that tip you out with your bags landside in the international terminal? And did you have to take the landside shuttle bus around to the domestic terminal to check in?

They used to have all those machines that you had to enter your data.  They are gone and you just get in line to see an agent.  I even entered all my data in the Passport app (CBP MPC) but really didn't need that as that is not used anymore at this time in ATL.  Using the app allowed you to pass the machines which basically took the same data.

Since there was a long delay getting out of BCN it allowed me to stay with Delta all the way to DFW since I would have missed making any connections on the other way.  So I never left the secure area.

Reasonable two-ticket connections will always work if everything goes according to plan. The problem is when things don't go to plan. That's when they fail, just as seems to have happened in your case. And often, a failure of a two-ticket connection can be very costly. Hopefully your problem wasn't expensive.

Zero loss of funds.  Received either full refund or changes without cost.  But for some it could be costly.

Studies from the get go on COVID have determined that the virus doesn't last very long on surfaces and constant extraordinary cleaning isn't necessary.  COVID is a respiratory virus and you get it from others, mostly in closed underventilated spaces where you are in close contact with others for a period of time.

Cleaning and sneeze shields work best against Noro and other viruses transmitted by touch.  these are readily handled by normal cleaning.

Something is not working if 3% test positive.  Elevators were extremely crowded and no spacing in the shows could be a contributing cause.  Stayed out of elevators and selected seating away from crowd.  Must have worked as not tested positive.

We just got off the Wonder yesterday as well.  It's interesting that 3% is 10x the number required for the CDC to label a ship as red.  Wonder is no longer in US waters so it's not listed on the CDC site anymore.  I think the real number is likely much higher than 3%.  There was lots of coughing and sniffling going on everywhere for the last 4-5 days.  Without debarkation testing there's no way to know the true number.  We went from the ship to the airport and stood in line for the pre-flight covid testing.  Lots of people wearing royal caribbean face masks and lots of coughing.  Unfortunately both my wife and I tested positive without any real symptoms at the time.  I always have allergies so  I would equate the symptoms to just that.  We're now stuck in Barcelona at a hotel for the next 5-10 days.  I'm still doing fine except for an new bad headache but my wife is having a much rougher time of it.  We're both in good health, fully vaccinated with 2 boosters and as careful as possible.

We loved the cruise and the crew and staff generally did a fantastic job.  I think the biggest risk point was the self-serve buffet.  There were way too many people rubbing their faces and then grabbing the serving spoons.  The tables were wiped between each guest but I wouldn't really call it a disinfection.  I never saw things like salt/pepper shakers getting wiped down.

I'm not saying people shouldn't cruise.  Evaluate the risks on your own but I'd recommend taking extra care in certain areas.  It's easy to get complacent when you see everyone else acting normal.

I just got off the Wonder of the Seas also and like you I did not see a real effort on cleaning in the the WindJammer.  General wipe down and people around the food not taking any precautions.  I tested Negative and so was able to make my flight which is another story of coughing and sneezing...without masks.  Good luck and speedy recovery.

And I can't believe that there wasn't some actual connecting service into DFW from some other carrier.  There's more to it than this, but we'll just have to watch how it plays out.  (Actually we won't, since folks rarely report on the failure of a "two ticket connection".)

It played out that Delta changed the flights around the day of departure (2 am for a 10:55 am flight) and ended up spending the night in Dallas due to flight delays out of BCN thus missing any connection to the final airport the same day.  A two ticket connection was not practical based on the last minute changes.  But had there been no changes it appeared the original two ticket connection would have worked in Atlanta based on the setup now through immigration/customs.

  6. My experience is, and I've had 12 cruises out of FLL since Aug 21, is get in line and go with the flow, no matter the time.  I have yet to see anyone turned away.  You'll go through the process and then go upstairs to wait your turn after Key/Suites/Pinnacles.  Enjoy your cruise.

Will do my best to update upon return, even if I spend the night in ATL.  There'll be no cost for me for any changes to the next day.  Several reasons for the two separate tickets is that first I need to accompany someone to ATL from BCN (personal reasons) and the last flight is out of DFW to a smaller airport I need to go to is only serviced by AA.  Connecting with Delta in Atlanta to DFW would not allow me to change airlines in time in DFW to make the last flight I needed.  So it was easier to change flights in ATL to AA which would allow me to catch the last flight to my final airport being it was the same airline.

Do be aware of the risks of separate tickets and make sure you have many hours in between those flights...because again, neither airline knows, or cares, that you have another flight because you're not protected on either.

Thanks. Programed 3 hours in between flights so should be good. Am prepared to spend night in Atlanta if necessary. My aim here was to find out if there was a AA counter before coming out of the secure area and where I’d end up after exiting the IT.

With ATL being such a Delta-centric airport (which, admittedly, I rarely go through, let alone internationally), I don't see there being an AA re-check desk after customs. I, too, am curious if this is one ticket or two, and that's critical info from the OP that is unfortunately missing. OP, please clarify your ticketing situation - not just if both flights are showing up on the same itinerary, but if there is one ticket number or two (ticket number is a long chain of numbers that's usually 13-16 digits long, not the shorter alphanumeric code).

One Delta reservation for the BCN-ATL part and another complete separate AA reservation for the ATL-DFW part.  They are not connected reservations. DL 195 is shown to come into the International Terminal (IT) and then I need to go to the AA ticket counter to check-in my bag as a new flight.  If the exit is past Customs and Immigrations (CI) is into the IT then it is just a mater of taking the shuttle to the DT North where AA is.  I wasn't sure where/what terminal you exited into after going through CI when arriving at the IT.  I wasn't sure and still am not sure if there is an AA counter in the IT arrival area after CI and before exiting into the Public Area.  Thanks for the input.

  10. If a US citizen comes in from BCN to ATL (Delta 195) and lands at the International Terminal and goes through Customs/Immigrations and picks up his bags to go to American Airlines Ticket counter to check in where does he end up once he leaves Customs/Immigrations WITHOUT going back into the Secure Area?  Are you in the Domestic Terminal after Customs/Immigrations or are you in the International Terminal and need to take the shuttle bus to the Domestic Terminal?  Or is there an American Airlines ticket counter in the area just past Customs/Immigrations before you normally would walk out?

was it easy for you reserving shows the first day on the app?

Are all the shows and things fully booked and do they now have stand by lines?

I was on the Wonder last week and there were just shy of 5000 people.  I don't know about others but I had no problem booking shows on the first day.  Nothing was booked up that prevented me from getting what I wanted.  However, it sure felt crowded compared to all the earlier cruises where we had 33 per cent or so.  This was my 17th cruise since last Aug and the first time it felt crowded.  Getting used to it!!

  12. There was someone on the Wonder's 2nd cruise I was on that went to GS and they changed their room with same category.  Someone didn't show up and a room was available.  You have to do it the evening after the ship leaves port.  However, with the ship filling up more each cruise that option becomes limited.  Is your joining room a balcony?  If so, what floor? Good luck.

We just came back from the Wonder, and I have a mixed feeling about the ship. The crew is amazing, as are the officers who are constantly roaming the ship. Mike, I won't even try to spell his last name, is excellent as cruise director. Funny and available, but not in your face. The food in the MDR was very good. The food in the Windjammer was ok with lots of choices for lunch and breakfast. Didn't go there for dinner. Giovanni's was excellent as was 150 Central Park. The enclosed solarium was a welcome addition. The Aqua show was teriffic, but the production shows, in my opinion, were done on the cheap, and not worth a second look, especially Voices. Taps was OK.

Just got off 2nd cruise on Wonder yesterday.  I agree.  The Wonder would not be my first choice for that class.  Selection of food in the WJ was way below par for what the Allure and Oasis provides.  And I found the food layout in WJ was somewhat dysfunctional.  The Park Cafe had fewer food selections than the Allure and Oasis.  There were many maintenance issues that were we encountered.  First 4 days my TV never worked correctly and we finally gave up trying to watch it, even though every day they said it was fixed.  Bathroom door is magnetic and slams shut.  We taped sponge ear plugs to minimize the bang.  Room doors do not shut properly and you have to pull/push to make sure they shut each time you leave room.  Notwithstanding issues with wifi calling which I hope was fixed last day.  Didn't really care for Voices.  Taps was good although some portions a little lengthy.  Enjoyed one of the two comedians.  One comedian was gay and his whole time was trying to validate his lifestyle to the audience through comments rather than jokes. The ice show, as always, is amazing.  The Aqua show is good but better on the Allure and Oasis.  As usual the music in the Aqua show was extremely too loud.  Having been on the Wonder one cruise where masks were required and one that wasn't, I noticed a difference in how many people were cleaning various areas more often.  One where the masks came off it seamed that there was a lot less crew cleaning public areas.  But I can't say enough about crew and staff overall.  They work very hard and all have a positive attitude.  The service and dedication to ensure the guests were happy was outstanding.  And you are correct about Mike.  One of the best RCI has.

  14. This is what I received as part of an email from the Wonder of the Seas IT Manger today whom I have been working with to resolve this issue. He has coordinated with several external offices to help resolve this issue on this ship and very supportive of acquiring a solution.  Whatever they have done has resolved the issue as of today for the 3 iPhones in my family.  Hopefully, this will work on future cruise on this ship. I’ll know again on the TA later this month.

    From the IT Manager….

After some more troubleshooting, my contacts made some changes and asked me to test again with my devices and I was able to make few wifi calls successfully, so I was wondering if you want to give it another shot and see if this works for you as well.

I would suggest the following process:

    • disconnect your phone by going to logout.com
    • reboot the phone
    • reconnect to wifi-guest-wonder
    • connect to internet using your user name and password
    • toggle off/on the wifi calling feature
    • after 2-3 min try to make a wifi call

Do you know if a dyson hairdryer can be used in stateroom? It did not work on Celebrity Apex, was told it would work on some RCI ships. Will be on Wonder next week. Can you ask at desk, please

Remember that I am just the messenger. When I asked at Guest services about the Dyson hairdryer they made several calls and talked among themselves and the conclusion was they don’t have enough information to determine if they should be used or not. Their recommendation was to bring it with you and have a ships electrician take a look at the specifications for a determination. However, as you are probably aware there are hairdryers available in each state room.
