Surprisingly, the AT&T plan is not available on Royal Princess. Be sure to look at the ships it is available on. I have used it before and it worked great. 🙂

This trip I will go with the suggestions of Skype, Whatsap, and Messenger.

I just have to understand what I do to make sure voicemail does not come on. Do I put in airplane mode? Will I then be able to use the wifi as stated and use the internet with my plans I purchase? There was something ATT said before about turning off cellular data. I think I turn it back on when on islands and doing the ATT $10 per 24 hours deal. It is available on certain islands and will be on the ones I will be at.

I wish I knew more... I have printed out all previous info and thank you. Anyone help me on the cellular data issue and voice mail? :o:o

Could someone please tell me if I am putting it in airplane mode and then voicemail will not work?  That is fine.  I just don't understand what I am doing about cellular date and enabling it and not enabling it.  ATT did not know a whole lot for me.

    Thank you.

  3. I don't know if the Mom has a cellphone with apps but I use Whatsapp all the time to text and place voice calls using wifi. Called home to Vancouver BC every day from 3 weeks in Tokyo. Both parties need to have the app and set it up. Works very well!!

    Pardon my ignorance, but...

If I download Whatsapp and son who is sitting with Mom has Whatsapp and I am Royal Princess and not on land but at sea, I can call and talk to him and my mom on his cell phone. I have the land deal with ATT for islands visited, but saw $50 only available through Princess for 10 minutes at sea :eek:so looking for another option for sea days. Do I need to buy wi-fi package on ship to make this happen? Thank you!

  4. I'm guessing that they wouldn't work since there's no audio output on the back of the TV to jack into unless they've changed the system since the introduction on the faster internet.

There is a connector thing that is sold separately for about ten bucks. It says it will convert digital to analog. Am I on the right track? Sure appreciate your thoughts.

  5. Odd question here. DH enjoys tv more than I do so we have taken headphones in the past. Great anytime but especially for a mini-suite with the two tv's or if I just want to read in quiet. They did not work on Caribbean Princess on last sailing. I am soon hoping to purchase a new set that comes with wireless bluetooth capability. Do any of you savvy people know if this type headphone will work on the tv's on Royal Princess? I am looking at Avantree HT4189. Help. Please.

  6. I did a similar 8 day on the Caribbean Princess in May and formal nights were the first of the 2 sea days each time, so your idea seems right. Enjoy the cruise.

Thanks for your response. And, I am looking forward to our first visit to ABC. Just sailed Caribbean Princess and did a repeat Western. Enjoyed the ship and already booked for Panama Canal in 2019.

Happy Cruising and hope you have another adventure in the future.

  7. Hello: Planning reservations for specialty dining. On this itinerary there are two sea days back to back on Saturday and Sunday and then two more sea days back to back on Thursday and Friday. Sails on Friday and FLL return on Saturday. Am I correct in thinking first formal night will be first sea day on Saturday and second formal night will be on Thursday. I do realize it could change, but does anyone know what is likely? Thanks as always.

  8. Sitting at fll airport due to flight delays. Ugh! BW was good old school hotel. Clean and friendly. Took $1 trolley to Winn Dixie, Ross, Dollar Tree and more all right together. Close to beach as said. Would stayvafain if looking for very basic hotel. Pool was fine and as previously said on here, bar and restaurant onsite. Best Cuban sandwich ever had. Uber cheaper and fine rather than taxi. Next time will stay at Embassy Suites as so close to all you need in walking distance but not steps from beach. You choose and either good depending on what important to you. [emoji41]

  9. Ha ha:D:D We sometimes stay for three weeks, but we have a new dog and we don't like to leave her that long. We started going to Aruba 10 years ago, when I retired. My husband is self employed, and he sets his own schedule. Everyone we know knows that we will be in Aruba every February. Even then, it's hard to leave and come back to gloomy winter.

How wonderful for you. Perhaps we will meet one day on Eagle Beach. I will be the one in a swimsuit.:')

  10. Thanks for the compliment. Both beaches are nice. If I were coming for the day on a cruise, I would be perfectly happy with either. Since we stay there for several weeks, we prefer the quietness of Eagle Beach. If you want to be near lots of restaurants, bars, shops, casinos, plus water activities, go to Palm Beach. That's where the action is. If you are looking for something more relaxed and quiet, you might prefer Eagle. We are in our 60's and don't need a lot of activities or nightlife any more. Now days, we just hang out on the beach, go to dinner, and come back to our resort, although we did try Trikes for the first time on our last trip earlier this year, and that was a blast.

Thanks much and helpful as usual. Good info and I appreciate it. Sounds like Eagle is good for us too. Hope you travel again soon. :)

  11. I would get off in front of Chalet Suisse restaurant. There are vendors right across the street, along with bathrooms and a snack bar.

I have enjoyed your Aruba knowledge. :)

Can you tell me why you personally seem to prefer Eagle rather than Palm for a beach day? Just wondering. Have never been to either but will in November. Thanks for your opinion.
