i've traveled extensively through asia. i have never witnessed this.

perhaps affectionately among friends and family, but strangers? pushing people aside?

no. this is absolutely not something that is sanctioned "in their culture."

what i want to say about my fellow amercans is that they - as a group - are among the world's least savvy travelers. and something seems to happen to many of them when they come onboard a cruise ship... all their intelligence,  tact, manners and respect for fellow humans seems to be left onshore.

You've never been to Mainland China.

  2. Ever been on a cruise out of the Med? Southern Europeans are notorious for cutting in lines. These trips also attract a fair amount of Asians and in their culture it's an endearing quality to push people aside when trying to get someplace.

Say what you want about Americans but no doubt we're still the most patient and polite people, for the most part, on earth.

  3. I took the Escape out of NYC last September to Maine and Canada for 7 nights. Literally days before departing NCL posts an updated itinerary which ADDED a stop in Newport. Personally, I loved the change and enjoyed that port. I did meet some people who were pretty upset about losing a sea day.

Common thread is zero explanation from NCL for the change in plans. That's just how they roll. Or sail).

  4. I'm a solo traveler with a flexible schedule. I'm interested in booking an Alaskan sail this summer. My big requirement is securing a balcony cabin. I'm wondering if anyone on here has had any luck with last minute bookings to Alaska in terms of significant cost savings and cabin choice. TIA.

  5. I just had my 1st Studio cabin experience on the Prima with one coming up on the Escape.

The space is very well laid out with a good size bed. I never slept so well.

I enjoyed having the lounge down the hall for morning coffee and some sweets at night.

As mentioned earlier, NCL has a Solo meet every afternoon at 5 ( i really think they should make it a bit later) but it is a great way to meet new people and open to all class cabins. I highly endorse the Studio Cabin.

  6. I was on Prima June 15th, Iceland to Southampton. I've been fortunate enough to cruise itineraries from Mexico to St Petersburg with several cruise lines and my voyage on the Prima rated among the best trips I've ever been on.

The interior of the ship is stunning, the crew couldn't be more helpful and Indulge is an amazing and well executed food concept.

Booking a cabin directly underneath any major gathering place or venue gets little sympathy.

Lesson learned is always check the deck plan.

Perhaps if we understood how you wish to use the internet, we could better advise you on which plan would be best for your needs/desires.

Send and receive emails. No big attachments, video etc.

  8. I'd appreciate any advice/feedback on the Wi-Fi plans offered on Carnival. Is there much difference between basic and premium option?  I'm looking for, hopefully, reliable service to send and receive emails. TIA.
