I was on the May 21st cruise and had a wonderful time as always! Great service and the shortest waits for pizza ever.
However, I must say that I got so sick of Dr. Rev. E's singing EVERY SINGLE MORNING! He was fun and funny all around but I was so over his singing every time he got on the announcements.

I am on Accuweather and it is actually looking better today. It is showing St. Thomas as only a 29% chance of rain that day. San Juan is cloudy but only occasional showers. DR is sunny with 40% chance of thunderstorms. I am going to choose to believe Accuweather and think positive. :-)

I have a question about OBC. We have a 4 person balcony room with $50 OBC per person. Our 4th guest is unable to go but as I paid for part of her fare, I would like to be able to keep the $50 OBC that would have been hers. Will Carnival allow this?

So happy! Love your reviews. Can't wait to read it.

See if you can get the CD involved and have them post the proposal on the Dive in Movie screen one night. That's assuming that he KNOWS she'll say yes, otherwise it might not work out to well.
LOL -- that would be awful wouldn't it? I know for a fact she will say yes as we have discussed this possibility numerous times.
Thanks for the idea!

Good morning. A group of us are leaving for a cruise on the Magic in 2 weeks. My sister and her boyfriend are going with us and her boyfriend just texted me and asked if I had any ideas for a creative, fun way for him to ask her to marry him. I immediately thought of all of the wonderful minds on CC....Does anyone have any good ideas I can pass along?

I tried to do this for 2 people in our room of 4 and they wouldn't let me. You have to either prepay grats for everyone in the room or none at all. Just an FYI for anyone else who might want to do this.

I just looked to book a cruise for my friend for next year and it had a $49 dollar deposit per person.

No one can say whether FTTF will be worth it or not for you. I personally love it and will buy it for every cruise until I get to platinum. However, there are those who think it is a waste of money. I love it because you get to board right after platinum and diamond guests and your room will be ready (normally you have to wait until after 1:30 or so in order to get to your room). For people with kids (who might need naps), this can be a very good benefit. I personally just don't like to have to tote my carry-on around until the rooms are ready. Also, you can use the guest services line which is for platinum and diamond guests. On my last cruise, I needed to go to guest services during my last night of the cruise. The regular line looked like it might take up to an hour to get through and I was done in 5 minutes. Lastly, if you have a port where you have to tender to shore then this allows you to get priority in order to get on a tender.

I have a question about an upcoming cruise. On the cruise will be my daughter and her friend (both 20) and me. When we booked and originally paid for the cruise, there was going to be an additional over 21 year old but she is no longer coming. We decided to go ahead and keep the 4 person capacity as it was larger. Also, the cost per person for a 3 person would have gone up so I finished paying off what was left owed on our room (as I didn't want to lose our current room). Therefore, I would want to get the refund. So how will this be handled in regards to the refund of her port charges?
Also, would I be able to only purchase cheers for one person as I will be the only +21+ in the room? I know if i pre-purchased I would have to pay it for 2 people.
I hope my questions make sense. CC is the best at giving answers so thanks so much in advance!

I am definitely a pretty cheap person in general. With that being said, I try to never sail without FTTF. It is so worth it for us. On my last cruise, there looked to be an hour long line at GS the last night of the cruise. It was so nice to just wait a couple of minutes before getting waited on and go back to enjoying my last precious night of the cruise.

The popcorn is really bland so my husband and I brought kettle corn seasoning for our last cruise and it made the popcorn perfect. Either way, this is one of my favorite things to do on a cruise. Watching a movie under a blanket in the middle of the Caribbean sea is pretty dang wonderful!

Thanks for your thoughts on the American table. I too don't like silverware placed right on a table (gross) and the wine bottle and carafe of water slid around when there was rough seas which was a pain. I would also not appreciate someone else fingering my bread -- that's just unhygienic. However, I drink a lot of water and loved having it at the table and I found the food to be just as satisfactory as the previous menus.

My sister and I did the Splendor in March and we loved it. The food was exceptional....loved the steakhouse and the rotisserie! The service was wonderful and it was an all around wonderful week and I would sail her again quite happily.

I haven't cruised either ship but with Pride getting updates last year, the longer cruise, and the much better ports then I would choose it. But honestly, any cruise is better than no cruise so I am sure they will be happy no matter what. My then 18 year old active twin daughters' first cruise was on the victory and there wasn't nearly as much to do as the newer ships and they still loved it.

I would have definitely picked the Sunshine over a fantasy class ship. However, this new NCL choice makes me change my vote. I would do that just because Tortola is on my list of ports I want to visit and Carnival doesn't appear to ever go there (of if they do it is not often).
-
I guess I am lucky. I booked an 8 day on the Sunshine for May 2017 and it is more now than during the $99 deposit sale.

I went to HMC in January and the water was perfect that day. It is my absolute #1 port. I love beach days and it was the most amazingly, beautiful water I have ever seen. With that being said, St. M is my 2nd favorite port so I don't think you can lose with either option. You are probably safer going to St. M and St. K so I would lean that way for a January cruise.

My DH and I were on the Liberty in November. We did the anytime dining and we ended up requesting the same serving team every night (Carlos was the head waiter and Pedro was one of the others on the 3 man team). We loved them and had a great experience!

I love this thread! It makes me feel all of those "first day feelings". I also love the sound of the ding welcoming you aboard. I know there are some who don't but I love the sound of the waiters singing (except the goodbye song because that makes me sad). Their singing and dancing always makes me so happy.

Are these rooms too small for a party of 4? I have only ever sailed balcony rooms but my mom and the two others I am with are not willing to pay the difference for a balcony.

I loved the Splendor. My sister and I sailed her in March and had a great cruise. The food was probably the best of all my cruises and the staff was great too. I would sail her again happily!

I actually like it for one reason. I love the ability to click on just a particular month's sailings. I am interested in either Feb. 2017 or May 2017 and with the old way, you had to put Feb. through May in order to get them in one search. With this new method, you can add May 2017 to my Feb search without having to look at March and April sailings.
Never mind...this worked this morning like that but now it didn't. So.....I take back my approval. :)

Is this the Guy's BBQ (like on the Magic)? Was it only open on sea days?
Thanks!
