  1. We went on the P&O excursion 3 or 4 years ago and it was well worth the money. The host was very funny and the commentary was excellent and informative. There were some good local singers on board and lots of rum!

  2. Viv, do not be at all concerned your beaded dresses will be over the top. On formal nights, from the young to the not so young, seeing the ladies In their amazing dresses is a sight to behold. I have a couple of beaded dresses and have never felt out of place. Enjoy.

  3. Hi Kat, sorry I have missed your previous postings. Where are you going and on which ship? Wherever and which ship, I am sure your husband, and you, will get hooked on cruising. We have been most P & O ships and never had a bad experience. We are back on Azura for the third time in February and are already excited. I hope you and your husband have a brilliant time and continue to cruise.

  4. In the last year we have been across the Bay of Biscay on Britannia and Azura. On both cruises I took all sorts of travel sickness medication and ginger biscuits with me. Didn't use any of it as all crossings were excellent. I think it is just the luck of the draw. Try not to worry about it and concentrate on enjoying your cruise. Britannia is brilliant.

  5. We booked our next cruise to the Caribbean 2018 when on Britannia in Sept 2018. We got £750 OBC plus 5% discount and the when our booking was transferred to our usual Travel Agent we got their discount too. Our OBC will certainly be used for things we would buy anyway e.g. our wine package, bar bill, speciality restaurants, Clinique products etc. We will probably have a small bill still to pay.

  6. We have always booked fixed dining, table for 6, 8.30. Apart from one minor hiccup, this has always worked fine until on Azura in May this year. As usual we booked a table for 6. First night a couple arrived and we waited for the third couple, no-one else turned up. No problem, lots of people take the opportunity of reduced prices in the speciality restaurants on the first night. The couple were very nice but the lady was asleep by the time the main course arrived and her husband kept nudging her to keep awake. Again, no problem, we all had a tiring day. Second day, exactly the same situation. By this time I was a bit disappointed, in effect only 3 of us on a table for 6. Third night, same again. Next to us was a table for eight, only four turned up. They queried this with the waiters who could not give an explanation. I spoke to the people on the table for eight and we agreed that the best solution was for us to combine the two tables. We asked if we could do this and were told we couldn't as our table for 6 had only 4 people allocated to it but the table for 8 had 6 allocated and the other 2 may turn up at some point. After some slightly heated discussion with the restaurant manager, we were allowed to combine the two tables. The rest of the evenings were brilliant, we had great fun, the lady continued to sleep through most meals but her husband enjoyed the buzz around the table. The mystery couple never turned up! The waiters were really pleased about the outcome and they helped make every evening a brilliant experience, we had so many laughs with them. Whatever you decide, just make sure you get what asked for and I'm sure you will enjoy.

  7. On Brittania last September we booked a Caribbean cruise for next February. We paid £50 each deposit and got £375 each OBC. When we got home our TA sent us all the paperwork and also gave us their usual discount. The price has also gone up quite a bit now. I think it was worthwhile for us but I did notice on Azura in May the OBC being offered was less.

  8. We are going back on Azura mid May, like Terrierjohn, and can't wait. We had a great Caribbean cruise last year, great food, great company. We avoided the busy areas round the pool on sea days just because that suited us. I did wander along there when it was busy and thought how great it was that so many people were having a great time. I can't understand why people seem to criticise P&O for providing holidays that suit a range of requirements. We love the formal nights, not everyone does, each to their own. We only use the MDR, our choice. We use the speciality restaurants, our treat to ourselves. We book some excursions with P&O, sometimes we do our own thing. We have sailed many times with P&O and Princess and will continue until we fancy something different, We, as someone else said on another thread, are just appreciative that we can afford to cruise, so we just 'enjoy'.

  9. We used the coach transfer service for the first time last September. We found it excellent. The coach was due to leave from Bolton at 9.30, we arrived at 9.00 and several people had already boarded. Everyone was there by 9.15 so we left early. Our next stop was Keele where we had a quick pick up. We stopped for a break of around 40 mins at lunchtime and then another short stop bacause we were ahead of schedule. We arrived in Southampton around 3pm. We did have a short delay then as the boarding bridge had come adrift from Britannia but we were in our cabin with our luggage by 4pm. We had a lovely, amusing driver. We are doing the trip again in May to board Azura, hopefully we will have another good experience.

  10. We were on Azura in the Caribbean last February. We loved her, despite being one of the larger ships it never felt crowded. Despite what we read in reviews, we always found sunbeds on sea days. We didn't want to be round the pools, which were always busy, and found some lovely spots. There were always quiet spots in the various lounges as well. We don't use the buffet, just prefer the main dining rooms which were never busy. We loved her so much we have two more cruises booked, roll on May. Enjoy.

  11. Is it me or is anyone else having problems booking excursions on Cruise Personaliser? I am trying to book a particular excursion for our Med cruise in May, I get to the point where it asks you to select passenger names to check availability and press continue and it just goes back to the same point. I have tried this on several other excursions just to test it out and I get stuck every time!

  12. On Britannia in September 16 we booked for the Caribbean on Azura in Feb 2018. Our first choice of cabin, the one we were on last year, was not available but next door but one was so we booked it and we got 375pp OBC. It is now showing as £280 pp dearer and only £300pp OBC. If my maths is right, booking now we would have to pay £560 more and get £150 less OBC.

  13. We have done two Princess cruises, Hawaii and Canada and New England. We loved the ships, nationalities on board, and would go with Princess again if the itinerary suited. We have cruised with P & O several times and have never had a bad cruise or ship - so we love both. I just love the Cruise programme as it takes me back to lovely holidays, there are some annoying people and issues like lost luggage etc. If they showed everything as perfect it would not be believable. Roll on May for our next cruise on Azura going to the Med.
