  1. Sorry to hijack your thread Vampiresse88 but I have a travel insurance issue myself so thought I might as well add it to yours.

We are on a Britannia cruise in the Caribbean on 29th of Feb.  My husband used to be a keen walker. Over 12 months ago he started getting pains in his leg and so went to see the doctor.  After much delay and cancellations by the NHS he finally had a scan last May. It took a couple of months before he got a diagnosis and he was told he had a vein blockage and in due course he would get treatment. They said it wasn’t anything serious. In August his walking became more painful after about 200 yards, so he made another appointment at our doctors. This doctor thought the diagnosis was incorrect. We then were back to square one in terms of getting another appointment to see a consultant.  We managed to speed things up by paying for a private consultation and different scan.  In January the consultant said it wasn’t what they originally thought, and though not serious, he needed a further scan to confirm the diagnosis  to enable them to make the decision on treatment.  He had an MRI scan last week and he is awaiting the consultants response

We have annual insurance with Staysure but when Ian rang them last week to update the policy they wouldn’t insure him while waiting for a diagnosis. They suggested he contact BIBA who would advise who would insure him and All Clear will do it at a cost.

Obviously we will pay as we do not want to miss our cruise. Ian has rung the consultants secretary who has very kindly offered to try and get an early response but time is running out.

Has anyone had a similar issue in the past? Also, how late can I update our travel insurance details on Cruise Personaliser?

  2. Sorry if this has been asked before but I need a little help. I am just completing the personal information for our upcoming cruise. I have completed and saved all my details but don’t know how to bring a page up to complete my husbands. What am I doing wrong ?

  3. We are booked on Iona for Feb 2021 to the Canaries, paying £2850 for a balcony cabin, booked on release. We sailed on Azura in Feb 2018, again to the Canaries, paid £4898, again for a balcony cabin. No brainer for us. We know there will be a lot more people on board, but hopefully teething problems will have been sorted. Really looking forward to it as a new experience but time will tell.

  4. terry99, P&O told me they would send all the details needed before the 30 day deadline, which was yesterday. As I had received nothing I I rang them this morning. I am sure there are others who have not yet received the information .If your theory about P&O pre-allocating seats prior to issuing the locator codes are issued, it looks like a lot of people have not yet received them. The way you described it was extremely helpful, but P&O should have done this a few days ago.

  5. I rang P&O this morning about the Virgin flights. After a long conversation and research by a very helpful Daniel, I got the flight locator/booking references I needed. There is one for outbound and inbound flights. The next steps are:

     - go into the Virgin Atlantic site

    -  click on my booking

    -  enter the booking reference and name

Your booking details should appear and the choose seat option is shown below the flight details.  You have to do this for each flight.

A lot of the seats were already booked so they must have been available yesterday.

I have booked our seats but there was no payment requested!

Good luck with this and get back to me if you have any problems.

  6. I rang P&O this morning and was told I should speak to my TA. Our TA says I should be able to book the seats through Cruise Personaliser.  We have had the flight details from P&O and have been told we can only book seats 30 days ahead (tomorrow). We have no specific Virgin reference. I will give it a go in the morning. I am just concerned, with all the problems CP has had, it doesn’t work.

  7. Has anyone booked seats on a Virgin flight? Booking for our Caribbean cruise opens tomorrow. I have tried to get access to the site but it won’t accept my cruise reference number. I realise it may be that I can’t do this until tomorrow but I would like to know if anyone managed to book seats without problems.

  8. Hi Alsa, we are on the Britannia cruise to the Caribbean on the 29th of Feb. Like you we have done many such cruises but all with P & O.  They have it all sorted for you and we just have a relaxing day on board. I use my beach bag with a small handbag inside to take on the plane and never had a problem. My husband has a small carry on case and between us we manage quite well, just needs a bit of planning. Getting excited now.

  9. Everything about the new system seems crazy. You would think that everything would be standard, but no. Some can do things that others can’t, some seem to be able to everything required of them. I received a brochure for the first time in a couple of years/ 3 cruises, complete with labels. I didn’t realise that only select received it, but we always book select! Six weeks to our cruise, not done the insurance and next of kin details yet, wish me luck.

  10. We decided we would give the Limelight Club a go on our upcoming Britannia cruise. One of the acts listed was Suzanne Shaw, I clicked on the option to get more info and Chesney  Hawkes came up! We settled for Gareth Gates as it does look like it will be him  appearing.

  11. We have never had a problem getting wine in the main dining room. We have always ordered a wine package and soon as we sat down the wine waiter came for our order and coupon. We have decided, however, to try the drinks package on our Caribbean cruise in Feb for a couple of reasons. My husband has a walking problem at the moment so we will be spending more time than usual on board. We have quite a lot of obc and combined with the loyalty discount it appears good value. We like a coffee or two, lots of water as well as wine, G&Ts etc. I don’t do much shopping on board (I do enough of that before the holiday).  We will do a review after and decide whether we would do it again.

  12. Going back to the comments of some thinking of going back to land based holidays,  we have done the reverse. We have three holidays a year, used to be 1 cruise, 2 land based. We now do 2 cruises, 1 land based. My husband now has walking difficulties and land based holidays restricted what we could do. Now we wake up in different places and can enjoy new experiences without going too far. A friend of ours is a solo passenger. Finding cruising has been wonderful for her. She feels safer as she doesn’t have to wander about in the evening alone and has made loads of new friends, one of which she cruises with regularly.

  13. Hi Missdaxo,

we are on Azura from 14-28 June doing these ports. Not our first cruise but first time to the Baltic.

We have already decided to book the two day P&O excursions in St. Petersburg. Are awaiting details of the rest but will probably do mainly on our own.

This will be our 4th cruise on Azura and she is our favourite ship. I would suggest you book either Freedom or fixed dining at 8.30. The early sitting of 6.30 is too early when going out for full day excursions.

We are very excited about this cruise and will be watching for helpful responses to your

    query

    Regards

    Jennizor

  14. After earlier problems with Cruise Personaliser on my mini iPad, I can now see all 4 of our booked cruises. I have booked the Limelight Club for our 29 February Caribbean cruise. I can see all the excursions - haven’t booked any though. Next test is whether I will be able to book seats on our Virgin flight, only available 30 days before our cruise. Things have definitely improved for me. Fingers crossed.

  15. Hi Louise, we are also on Britannia in the Caribbean but not until February 29th. It is our 7th time in the Caribbean and on all previous 6 occasions the luggage has gone directly to the ship. This time, however, we should have been flying with Thomas Cook and have been changed to Virgin. As I understand it, the luggage situation is still the same but I have not had confirmation of that yet.

  16. We have used the same TA for the last 15 years. I never have to ask for a discount they just automatically tell me how much they can give me.  They even match what I would get going through TopCashback. I also find the booking process better than booking direct with P & O. Just try one Vampiress, I’m sure you won’t regret it.

  17. I spoke to P & O about this issue  a couple of weeks ago. I was advised to use all lower case letters. I did this and got in. Today I tried this again and couldn’t get in. I tried using the normal way, couldn’t get in. I tried again and got in - I don’t understand what is going on. I booked the Limelight Club, no problem. My worry is not being able to get in next month when I want to book flight seats and update insurance details.
