Found this HAL offer on my Amex Blue Cash card and applied it last week. Went to use it today and it's gone, not even available for me to re-add. Anyone else experience this?
If you've added this promo/offer to your card it should/will disappear from the current available offers but it should still be in your "added to card" tab. Just used mine today for an upsell and Amex emailed me that I just used my offer just seconds after using my card to pay for the upgrade.

All these nice perks for Neptune suites makes me want to jump on an upgrade/upsell offer😊

Thank you.

You do not need that. Self administered RAT will suffice, for Princess anyway. Which cruise line?
I'm curious about this.. we are also leaving from Sydney but on HAL. How does one prove the self administered test is theirs?

We've been really happy with our current PCC - he usually respond to my email within an hour ( unless he's out of the office -auto reply will the kick in). Very impressed with getting whatever the best promo offered by HAL also.

We have just received notification of our cabin allocation for the Feb 29th Cruise. No upgrade which tells me that the boat is quite full.
Looks like it is going ahead. Not sure if this is just a computer generated email, still no confirmation of itinerary changes. This is strange as it is still going to Taiwan, yet they have a block on any one that has been there, not able to board the boat.
Cabins still on sale on their web site, you are able to take them straight through to checkout.
Really still not sure how I feel about this cruise. Still looking at cancelling. Thank goodness for travel insurance.
This is interesting... We're also booked on the Feb 29th cruise and we kept getting an upgrade offer to either Neptune or Pinnacle suite. 3 offers so far. I asked my PCC if these offers are computer generated/automated email and he said no and they are being sent from the inventory department.

I don't really know where they think we can embark/disembark at this point. And where exactly we're going when both Taiwan and Japan are refusing the ship. I wish HAL will stop fooling around already.🥵

I just received this email.....This is for the Feb 29
Dear Valued Guest:
We look forward to welcoming you on board Westerdam for our now round-trip Yokohama (Tokyo) voyage.
We continue to closely monitoring the evolving situation with respect to the new coronavirus that originated in mainland China and wish to reassure you that our medical experts are coordinating closely with global health authorities. For more information, please see the updated Guest Health Advisory attached to this letter.
Please be advised that guests who have traveled from or through mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau, or had contact with a suspected or confirmed case of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) or a person who is under monitoring for coronavirus in the last 14 days prior to sailing will not be permitted to board the ship. If you will fall into one of these categories, please call us at the number below to process a cancellation and refund prior to sailing.
As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we are currently evaluating the port calls on your voyage and anticipate that there may be additional changes to your itinerary as countries adjust their entry criteria.
In recognition of the changes to your voyage, each guest who sails will now receive a $250 onboard credit, rather than the $50 onboard credit previously communicated. The onboard credit may be used toward all purchases in the bars, boutiques, and photo gallery, as well as specialty dining, spa treatments and shore excursions. (Cannot be redeemed for cash or used in the Casino.)
Should you have incurred expenses related to adjusting your round-trip flights, we will reimburse up to $250 in air change fees. Please present proof of change fees at Guest Services once you are on board for review by our corporate office to be refunded in onboard credit.
We understand this may not be the cruise vacation you anticipated, and some guests may prefer not to travel at this time. Should you choose to defer your travel and cancel your cruise you will receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit (excluding independent travel expenses) that can be used on a replacement cruise that sails within 12 months. The terms and conditions of this Future Cruise Credit are listed below.
We regret this disruption to your vacation plans and appreciate your understanding. Please refer to the attached Health Advisory for more information about the steps Holland America Line is taking to safeguard our guests and precautions you can take to reduce your risk of contracting a respiratory illness.

Just an alternative suggestion which is to book a decent hotel in the more popular downtown area of Shanghai where you have a large choice of restaurant, tour, and even walking options. Then, the day of your cruise simply have your hotel get you a taxi to the port which should cost no more then $25. I am not a big fan of staying at the cruise port which is more then 15 miles from the center of things.
Hank
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check out some hotels in the downtown area.

Can anyone suggest a decent/nice hotel near the Wusongkou port for an overnight stay prior to our cruise? I've tried searching a lot of hotels but most of them are about 45-60 minutes away from the port. Thanks in advance!

I don't think you will allowed to board. You need a visa for Tianjin and Dalian. The 144 hr visa has restrictions as to where you can travel in Shanghai but would not cover the other ports. We received a HAL notice for our Feb 15-29 saying that we can not board without a valid China visa. That cruise starts in Shanghai. You need a China visa with multiple entries. It is the same cost as a single entry.
Not when we're only leaving from Shanghai right? I think the OP was doing the 28 day cruise so they need to get a Visa...We're only doing the 14 day cruise from Shanghai to Hong Kong

We are doing this cruise too. (We also did the same one in March 2019)
We are not getting a visa and will once again apply for the 144 hr Transit Without A Visa (TWOV). Our only problem was that the agent saw that the first day of the cruise (embarkation only) was the next day so they gave us a 24 hr TWOV. The ship spent the first night in Shanghai and didn't leave until 6pm the second day. We had to ask to see a Supervisor to get this corrected to a 72 hr TWOV. Even then the Supervisor and several agents had quite a lively discussion about it. The Supervisor won. While this was going on, it got corrected for all of the other cruisers that were in line behind us. 🙂 We wasted 45 minutes because of this.
Just make sure they don't just look at the first day on the ship's itinerary (which you have to provide a copy to them) and look at the actual date you sail out of the country. Now that we learned it the hard way in 2019, we will get it right the first time in 2020.
Thanks for the info Betty! We'll sure to ask for the 72 hr TWOV. Maybe we'll see you onboard :)

We'll be on the Westerdam cruise Feb 29-March 14, If we are arriving in Shanghai on Feb 28 and the ship doesn't leave Shanghai until March 1, do we need a Visa? Thanks!

Thank you for this topic. I was successfully able to apply the $100 credit to a reservation. Love CC!
This offer is good until March. Is there any way to apply the offer again and purchase OBC instead of making a payment? I'm assuming not, but thought I'd ask since OBC might be a different department at HAL.
Finally, any pattern in how often this offer come out? If the offer expires in March and a new offer comes up later, can I apply the new offer to the same cruise?
I've used it twice each for both of us on different occasions ( 2 different promo dates that is). Hubby got a total of $250 and I got a total of 20K points. WE both have 2 different cards. One credit posted in July and another one this month, so maybe every 6 months?

Just FYI, If you don’t have the offer or can't see the offer on your account, Amex caps your current offers at 100 for any given card. If you’re already at 100 offers, try adding a few to your card and eventually additional offers should show up. I had to this sometime in the past...and some offers that I was looking for showed up.

Carol,
Thanks for the info. I guess we'll stay in our VA cabin on deck 7☺️. Have a great day!
-
Has anyone been in one of these cabins? I'm just curious how noisy ( or not) since it's close to the crow's nest, any more movement/sway ( can't think of the right term here, sorry) than the cabins on decks 7 or 8? Thanks!
-
We have been in these staterooms on both the Zuiderdam and Oosterdam. The Oosterdam is about two feet less in length.
Thank you for the reply
:)
-
Can anyone please tell me if the size of the balcony on these corner suites on Oosterdam are pretty much the same. We've had the S aft wrap on deck 5 on Zuiderdam ( I think it was SB 5190 or 5191) and just fell in love with it. I'ts hard for me to see if they are the same size. Thanks!:)
-
Only you can decide how much it is worth to you. :)
Let us know what you decide. IF you want it, don't wait too long. Someone else could
take it.
Well I called first thing when they open and it was sold out! Bummer! I guess I wasn't a minute early enough.
Oh well, our cabin will still be great and can spend the $1300 for excursions.
-
Grab it. For 14 days that's a decent price.
I will call this AM and see if its offered. Thanks!
-
This is on the Volendam right? VERY good price IMO since there are no Signature Suites on that ship.
Even if it isn't - for 14 days with an exotic itinerary, it's a very good price. Don't waste time asking or it may be gone.
Yes it is on the Volendam. I guess my hubby will get his wish! That is, if it is still available. Thanks for the response!

I didn't know that Amex limits the number of people redeeming the offer, but then again $300 is a lot of money depending on how many customers took advantage of it. Maybe you can call or chat online. I find that chatting online gives me the best results and you can save a screenshot of your conversation too. 99% of my inquiry/concerns gets resolved in online chat. Good luck.
