  1. There is one bit of "traditional cruising" that has to go: Every hall should have a room, open to the passengers and clearly marked, within which the passengers can serve themselves when they are so inclined, a place to leave room service trays, a place to empty trash cans, and a place to get ice.

Well said. Room stewards work very hard and honestly just for things like that, I would love to just be able to do it myself and not have to ask.

  2. So we are looking at either of these MSC cruises to cancel our 5 day on the Divina from Genoa. My grandmother is turning 78 this January and she cannot stop talking about the Greek Islands ever since I got back from Ireland. I think the ships are about the same, but does anyone have a preference over itinerary/ship?

The Musica goes to Brindisi, Olympia, Santorini, Athens, Corfu, and Kotor.

The Poesia goes to Bari, Olympia, Athens, Mykonos, Sarande, and Dubrovnik.

Both from Venice of course and they are actually both the same exact price.

She's very active for her age (still working) so she can walk distances, but we are just looking for ports with lots of history and scenery.

    Thank you.

  3. Just booked our first X cruise on the Reflection for the day after New Year's. Worked perfectly as we could not sail before New Year's. Been wanting to try as a family member raved about them back when the Galaxy was in fleet.

I know there's always at least one dish on the menu that's vegetarian, but most of the time it has something cheese based. I'm not vegan, but I'm sensitive to dairy products. HAL had a vegetarian menu that had vegan/vegetarian options that were very good and we ordered each night for the next day. I didn't have great experiences with Royal/Carnival and mostly ate at the buffet.

    Does Celebrity have good options?

  4. Here's the updated program. It changed since I've been on Carnival. Hope that helps.

"In 2017, Carnival introduced a new Future Cruise Vacation program, allowing passengers to book a new cruise at a promotional rate up to two weeks following their sailing.

The program gives passengers the option to either book the promotional rates onboard as before, or do it later, either online or through the FunHub app. Passengers who take advantage of the new program may combine Early Saver Rates with a $25 per person onboard credit up to $50 per stateroom, 50 percent reduced deposit requirement and a two-category upgrade. For those booking suites, the onboard credit is $50 per person up to $100 per stateroom, along with the other benefits.

The program has some limitations. Passengers won't be able to choose other rates, such as those for past guests or Friends and Family vouchers. Under the old program, onboard credit remained if you found a rate reduction at a later date; now, the credit will disappear if you rebook."

Rates aren't cheaper on board than online, they just throw in some extra perks. I don't like Early Saver so it wouldn't be an attractive offer to me.

  5. Hi, there is an Alamo and an Avis located at the Car Car Centre in Disney World. There is a free bus to the Transportation Ticket Centre, but then you would have to get on the monorail or a bus to one of the parks and then take a bus/train/boat to the hotel. So I would suggest taking a cab, but personally, I love the monorail and it's just apart of the Disney experience for me. If you're staying at a hotel with the monorail, that will make it much easier for you.

You can also drop off the car at MCO airport. Disney will transport you for free on the Magical Express bus. Just call WDW or your travel agent to add it your reservation. Just say you're carrying on your bags. As long as your staying at a WDW operated hotel, you're good to go. Just call and say your dropping off a rental car and need the shuttle service.

Another place you can drop off the car is the Hilton in Downtown Disney. You can check-in at your Disney hotel and drive back and drop it off there and take a bus from Downtown Disney to your hotel.

Wouldn't recommend the bus. Rental car for me would be the best bet. Otherwise, you can fly out of Miami to Orlando and take the Disney Magical Express bus for free from MCO. American/Delta both fly from here to MCO and Silver Airways from FLL. I took out spirit because... no.

  6. If You have that many cabins booked why are you not going thru group sales you can get so many more amenities for booking over a certain amount of rooms like a free berth ect.. Worth checking in to.. I had a group and we had 9 cabins and I got almost 500 in OBC which I shared with my group... Cant hurt to check...

Bump - 6 cabins is the minimum for group sales. You definitely need to look at that.

  7. "Buy gift cards on there." Where is "on there" -- on a Carnival ship or on the AARP website? What discount does AARP offer on gift cards? And are the cards useful for paying for everything on Carnival, including the cruise fare?

    Thanks!

Rewards for Change, you get points completing like articles or surveys etc and u can buy a $100 gift card for carnival for $90 or $500 for $450. They are valid on everything, but sometimes out of stock. Avoid Royal caribbean's gift certificates on there. They are never sold out for a reason.

  8. We booked a cruise in January 2019 out of Mobile and ended up booking nine cabins for friends and friends of friends from all over the US. Three days ago, I got an email stating ship is going into dry dock and contact my PVP. He was out of the office until that night so I started looking myself and found the same itinerary out of NOLA a week later for about the same price and I even located nine cabins in a row. My PVP called that night and said he sent the info to his manager and was working on it. That is where everything has stalled. My issue is the upper deck on the Fantasy is between two decks with cabins. We booked when free upgrades were going on. If we get moved to Upper deck on Triumph, we are above the casino, dance club or show lounge. Is it unreasonable for us to be asked to be moved up one deck so we are between cabins again (comparable to what we originally booked) for the same price we booked for? Also, instead of the $25 per person on board credit we have, would it be wrong to try to get more since I've done a lot of the leg work search cruises, etc? Looking for opinions as I wait for my PVP to get back with me.

I would ask to see if you can move up a deck. I certainly avoided the Empress deck on the Fantasy and stayed on the upper as well, but asking for more onboard credit, to me, it's asking for too much. Your cruise is more than a year and half away and I think $50 a cabin is fine in my book. You can try and ask, but I rather prioritize moving up a deck instead of asking for more OBC.

Wish the best of luck to you and hope you can get up a deck.

  9. I did not have an AMEX card. So I applied and received a large line and $250 off $1000 in first three months.

Here's my question, I have a large balance due on my cruise, $3900. If I make a payment when I get my card of $1000, I get $250. If I wait a month or two and make another payment, would I get the $100 offer too?

    Not greedy, just wise.

I paid an existing reservation on the last offer and still got the credit.

  10. I checked our Amex cards this morning and the offer is now available (at least it is on our cards).

I have the pesky Delta card, so waiting for the link if someone can post it. Chat was no help to me and said my card wasn't eligible when the T&C say "An "eligible Card" means a valid American Express® US Consumer or Small Business credit or charge Card that is issued by a US banking subsidiary of American Express". I'm going to play the game "I keep clicking add to my card and it's not working" and see if that helps.

Oh well. Cancelling the card anyways before renewal. Wish my Sapphire Reserve had these offers :(.

  11. Thanks, you beat me to it.......we were one of the unfortunate/fortunate ones caught on the Victory during her 'refurbishment AT SEA'.....uggghhh! We were in a brand spanking, Breeze décor new cabin, which was GREAT....however they were refurbishing the cabins on the deck directly ABOVE us during the entire cruise......and because they were behind schedule they extended work hours to 24/7.....not the relaxing cruise we had hoped for.

But on the plus side....then ship looks excellent and it is decorated in the Caribbean theme and colors just like the Breeze.....very very nice!!

I picked the Breeze over the Conquest just because of the colours/theme.. Really relaxing and inviting!!
