Hope Micheline is having a wonderful birthday and feeling much better. I would recommend enjoying one of the great restaurants downtown, instead of traipsing all the way to Burnaby, but that is just my opinion. Cardero's or Lift Bar & Grill, are both on the water, not too far away. Cardero's has nightly music in their Coal Harbour Marina side Pub, starts at 8pm. Either a longer stroll or a very short cab ride. But if you guys did the Capilano Suspension Bridge - you can walk it.😁 Wherever you end up, have a great meal. Have you had a beverage yet at the Coal Harbour Bar in the hotel - any service there? lol Cheers, 🍾 Canuck

Sailing under the Lions Gate Bridge is fabulous, in our experience - make sure you are out on deck as it looks like you are not going to fit and then you just squeeze under. We, on the Quantum, (so same size as you) are scheduled to leave at 7pm...wonder what time low tide is then - hope Royal has this worked out.🙃 Enjoy your evening. Canuck

Hi Bob, Thanks for all the info! Yes - I know Five Sails is open but wanted something a little more casual for the night before the cruise, Find it hard to accept that, apparently, they didn't have the patio open since the pandemic started. Have spent many a birthday dinner out there, looking at the ships. All they tell me is that they are short staffed. Too bad, as the weather will be heating up again for the next few days. Thanks again and hope you have a great time! Cheers, Canuck

Thanks so much Bob. I knew the pool was open (at least from reports) but wondering about the large patio outside the restaurant that overlooks the Pier (I have called several times and they tell me that it has been closed for a long time - since the start of the pandemic...) Good to hear that you have had no elevator issues. Did you happen to get early check-in okay - I can't remember if you said? I will be anxiously awaiting your bar report later on.😎 Too bad that it is a bit overcast, light rain & cooler right now. Supposed to be hot again for the next few days and sunny - fingers crossed. Cheers 🍸 Canuck

Hi Bob - Hope you got some donuts to go along with that.😀 Hope Micheline is doing much better. Question for you - we are having a "staycation" at the Pan the night before our cruise. We have stayed many times and it is one of our favourite hotels but....lately the reviews have not been good. I know they don't do any maid service at all (using Covid as the reason) if you are staying longer than 1 night & people haven't been able to get fresh towels, had to change their own linens on the bed, garbage piling up etc. (not okay, but ok for us as only staying overnight). I know the Oceans 999 restaurant is only open for breakfast, not lunch or dinner. I know their Coal Harbour Bar serves an abbreviated menu from the restaurant. I am wondering if their patio is now open to have drinks on and if their elevators are working ok (I know, sounds bizarre, but lots of people complained waiting longer than 1/2 hour for elevators and some were broken etc.). Just trying to get a "sense" of how the hotel is right now, as we are spending a lot. Trying to decide if we stay or cancel and time is ticking for cancellation. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Canuck

Bob - I totally feel your pain - the 1st time I tried to do it - it was so hard & thought the same thing "how are all these people doing it on their phones?!?". I still find it bad as I am on my laptop all the time. We are old school I guess.😁 You will have a nice hot sunny day in Vancouver today. Have a nice "rest" before the Ovation. Canuck

DaKahuna - you must have ESP, as in my reply to Romana's e-mail - I mentioned you and your wife singing her praises - haha. She seems very nice. Thanks very much for the tip on the servers, as we know exactly what you mean. We had bartenders on HAL that had our drinks actually poured and ready and our seats reserved at the Crow's Nest before we even got to Happy Hour - lol. That was exceptional service (props to Oliver on the Oosterdam). Thanks again for all your info given in your live review and we thoroughly enjoyed the "food porn". Bob - hope you and your wife are having a great last night and hope you enjoy our fair City for the next few days. Have a great time on the Ovation. Cheers, Canuck

Sorry - forgot that you are not spending the day in Victoria, only a few evening hours. Weather is supposed to be good in Vancouver - tomorrow 29C (approx 85F) & sunny, Tuesday 28C (approx 83F) sun w/possible light drizzle, Wednesday 19C (approx 66F) rain and Thursday 20C (approx 68F) sun w/possible rain & Friday - Ovation embarkation day will be sunny and 23C (approx 74F) - so hopefully a wonderful sailaway for you! You are lucky as the weather is supposed to turn after that and we are possibly looking at having a wet, colder sailaway (on Oct 3) but another forecast is for partial sun and 66F (changing daily of course). Enjoy your walk in Victoria. Canuck

Hi DaKahuna, Thanks for checking this out. That is good news for people going on the TransPacific. We are on the Hawaii cruise right before, so don't know if that means they will still be working on it for our cruise. Just hope that our 2 overnights in both Lahaina and Honolulu are not in peril. Hope you have a wonderful day. Canuck

Bxc53 - If things haven't changed since we last sailed (someone will correct me if I am wrong) but you can order Room Service Continental Breakfast with coffee for no charge (other Room Service is $7.95 I believe). So you can order croissants, muffins, danish, cereal, fruit, bagels, English muffins, toast and your coffee and then go for a full breakfast later (or not). My DH & I are the same - we do not go anywhere without having our coffee first.😁 Canuck DaKahuna - thanks so much for checking that out for me - very much appreciated! Have been out all day and just got home and told DH he wasn't getting dinner till I checked what DaKahuna was doing - haha. Any news on the engine? Cheers, Canuck

DaKahuna - Thanks for your great dinner pics! Can you tell me if you have a Cabin Steward AND an Assistant Cabin Steward? Just wondering, with the pandemic, have they cut down to 1 person or not? Do you know if Romana is staying on the ship to Australia or is there is a new Concierge scheduled to come? Thanks, Canuck

Hi DaKahuna - Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the video, but not to worry. Our upcoming cruise is a 10 day cruise, and the App is only showing a 7 day menu. So I am looking forward to seeing a 10 day one. That's too bad that lunch in the MDR wasn't good. But good news that you will be able to order from the MDR menu on sea days. Is this just for lunch or dinner too? I have food allergies and often cannot eat off the menu in Coastal Kitchen (and Luminae on X), so hopefully I would be able to order from MDR as well, as I place the order a day ahead. I have noticed you mention the Asst. Maitre'd a couple of times - who is the Maitre'd/Restaurant Mgr of CK, if you don't mind me asking? I like to know who I am going to be dealing with, as have had many problems in the past with my food allergies. Thanks, Canuck
