  1. Great pictures Kevin. I was on Indy in February and spent my pool time in the Solarium. Sailing on the Allure in October and can't wait to check out this area.

Thank you so much for the compliment! The Freedom class, like I said, is much bigger, but also much deeper. The one on Allure is nice, at least in my opinion, because of the jets and fountains! If there’s nobody in the middle area and you’re able to get it all to yourself, definitely take advantage of it - just be careful as the pool drain will be directly under your feet! (It’s safely covered of course, but the large cover sticks up off the floor so it can catch you off guard if you don’t see it when you’re walking!) you’ll have jets mildly massaging you on two sides in addition to misters overhead, as you can see in my photos.

Have a great time on Allure, you will love it! I hope you liked Independence, that’s the one Freedom class ship I have not sailed on but have plans to go on after I sail Symphony (the plan is 2020, fingers crossed) to complete the Oasis class! Thanks again, and safe travels!

  2. That's the pool????? Doesn't look any bigger than the hot tub on the Liberty etc.

How many people cram into this at once. Very disappointing for a huge ship!

I agree, the one on Oasis and Allure is very small, but other than that, I like the design! I was lucky to avoid the crowds quite a bit, but it does get very full especially on sea days. I think Symphony’s pool is comparable in size, but it still beats having no pool! Like I said, I really liked the Oasis/Allure Solarium pool design other than the design, although the Freedom class Solarium pools are huge compared to them! (Just too deep in most areas for the average person to touch the bottom).

  3. I don't remember seeing a pool in the solarium on the Harmony:confused:

We have Symphony booked and there is a small pool in the solarium:hearteyes:

That’s a running joke here on Cruise Critic about the Harmony and a fictitious Solarium Pool. There is no pool, however there is a small rain shower in the Solarium. I don’t necessarily think they should get rid of it (I made the most of it and admit I actually quite enjoyed it), but rather turn one of the 3 hot tubs into a pool, which is what they did on Symphony with the location of one of Harmony’s hot tubs. Symphony has a large sculpture in the location where Harmony has the rain shower. Have a great time on Symphony, wish I could get on there sooner!

  4. Book harmony, the pool is much bigger

That’s a lie and a half and you know it ;)

Just messing with you of course. Maybe they’ll add one when they drydock in 2021, similar to Symphony’s. Despite the pool (or lack thereof), Harmony is still a great ship! Although I very much look forward to the pool on Symphony!

  5. This one could be a toss-up... given the pattern, it should be by the balcony, but since it connects to an accessible cabin on the right, maybe this one is an anomaly? Normally, in a pair of connecting cabins, the one on the left has the bed by by the bath and the one on the right has the bed by the balcony, and so on. This allows for the connecting door to be on the wall opposite the bathroom, as cabins with the bed by the bath typically have the bathroom on the left upon entry and ones with the bed by the balcony have the bathroom on the right. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me can explain it better, but I hope I have been able to help somewhat!

ETA - I know someone who had your same cabin on Allure, just 6 decks below (same configuration as this cabin on Harmony, just different decor and closet setup) - hers was on the right side of a pair and therefore had the bed by the balcony (she had friends next door in 7176). However, unlike 14174, 7174 does not connect to an accessible cabin (or adjoin to one for that matter), so I am really unsure as to how this works! Quite frankly, I was surprised to see the connecting door between your cabin and the accessible cabin on the deck plan given the pattern. Either way, Harmony’s cabins have a very functional layout with 2 closets on either side of whichever is closest to the bathroom, which I feel is an improvement over other ships - this is what I meant earlier on when I mentioned how the cabins on Oasis/Allure and Harmony/Symphony have the same configuration, just a different closet setup, Have a great time, you’ll love Harmony!

  6. I don’t believe any balcony cabins on Oasis class are labeled “obstructed.” I think you are high enough to not have the lifeboats be an issue, so all you’ll be seeing is the sea! You are also the first balcony cabin at the front of the ship, on the starboard (right) side. I hope this helped, great choice of ship and cabin! Have a wonderful time!

  7. Yes, I believe it was Katy. Last week, she was all over the ship & very energetic.

Katy reminds me of an additional thought...we did not enjoy 90's street party (not because of Katy) last week as much as we have enjoyed 70's street parties on other ships. While I knew every song for both events, I don't think the majority of the crowd last week knew as many 90's songs, so it didn't seem like the party was as lively or interactive as a 70's party.

Great to hear! I have heard mixed reviews of her, but she did a good job on my cruise. I think the main reason we didn’t see much of her wasn’t because of any of her doing, but because Abe does his late night/ early morning show solo rather than with his AM. She did a great job hosting the 90s party on our cruise too, however, like you, my mother and I have grown to enjoy the 70s party and while we still enjoyed the 90s party, it just didn’t have the same feel!

Now I was born in 1999, so I wasn’t even a thought when those 70s songs were big, big the vibe at 70s night is just one not to be missed and that was one thing we did miss about Harmony! Alas, different events for different ships, gives us a variety! But what you said about the 70s party being lively and interactive is spot-on, you can tell that everyone there is having a good time! We loved it on Freedom, Liberty and Allure. We didn’t know about it yet on our Oasis cruise but more than likely would’ve enjoyed it just as much if we did!

  8. Up to date fleet guide with which ships are part of the “amped” program

    http://www.royalcaribbeanincentives.com/content/uploads/2018-2019-Fleet_Guide.pdf

This is a great list - thank you so much for sharing! I’m excited to see what improvements are added to Oasis, Allure, and Freedom. I have been on all three but plan to go on them again after their refurbishments! This list is very well written, all they need to do now is remove in the “highlights” section at the bottom the mention of a Solarium on Majesty and Empress!

Thanks again for sharing, makes me excited for all the future cruises I haven’t even booked yet!

  9. Very helpful with accurate information and not snarky like some others on here.

Agreed! Some people on here can be somewhat rude, whereas Bob seems down to earth and manages to get the point across in a helpful and concise manner.

  10. We sailed with Captain Johnny on Allure as well & had Abe on Freedom last year-he was great.

Dru was very friendly, maybe he was just off his game last week.

That’s great to hear! We were on Freedom this past March and had hoped Abe would still be there since we enjoyed him so much on Harmony! Sadly, he had left by the time our sailing came, but we enjoyed Drew Devine nonetheless!

Everyone has their bad days - great to hear Dru was still friendly! Harmony is a magnificent ship and I’m glad you made the most of it!

  11. So glad you had a great time! I was on Harmony last April and my family also got two rooms - the parents in an oceanview balcony on Deck 10, and my brother and myself in the Central Park balcony directly across the hall. I agree with your statement about, in general, entertainment bring forward and food aft (with the exception of the AquaTheater and Solarium Bistro) - definitely a good rule of thumb to help people who have never sailed an Oasis class ship!

I’m sorry to hear that the CD was not quite up to par - I have never sailed with Dru, but have never had an issue with any of the CDs I have sailed with. That being said, I do have a favorite, and that would be the one from my Harmony cruise, that being Abe Hughes, who will be returning to Harmony this fall. He was fabulous! I have sailed with Captain Johnny on both Harmony and Allure and agree that he is one of the best. The crew as a whole is usually always very attentive and friendly!

Overall, I’m happy you enjoyed the Harmony - I love Royal Caribbean and hope you liked it enough to return just as my family and I have! Thank you so much for the review!

  13. I was in a Grand Suite on Oasis last October and our muster station was in the champagne bar. It was, by far, the longest and most painful muster drill of my previous 25 cruises. Not only did they announce all the rules/regs, they then played the same video they played on tv in your room. It lasted at least 45 minutes.

I hate to be negative but it’s the first day of your cruise so you’ll have many great days after to make up for it.

45 minutes? I’m so sorry you had to experience that, I can say from experience that is not the norm! Perhaps someone on the ship thought they were too cool to go to the drill, so they had to track them down thus making it last longer? That is extremely long for Oasis class! But you make a great point about it being the first day, there are a lot of little mishaps the first day, but after that, you have all week! Love Oasis class, I hope you enjoyed the Suite! Maybe someday...

  14. Follow-up to my last post: I discovered from looking at your previous posts that you are in a Grand Suite on Deck 12. All Grand Suites are in the same fire zone as one another, so your muster station will be located on the Royal Promenade, near the Rising Tide Bar. My advice in this case would be to head to the aft stairs as you will already be at the aft end of the Promenade. Take the stairs if possible, the elevators get quite crowded! I hope this helps; I’d say your muster area is one of the easier ones to get out of, fortunately, due to the open layout - even more so in your case since Deck 12 is assigned to the area closest to the far aft end of the Promenade. I hope I have been able to help, and once again, enjoy your trip! Oasis is one of the best ships out there (with a nice Solarium with the original therapeutic pool that came with the first-generation Oasis class ships!)

    Enjoy! [emoji4]

  15. Actually, Oasis does theirs at 4:00; Harmony does theirs at 3:45 and Allure at 4:15 (which I think cuts it too close to sailaway!)

It’s very quick and painless, quite often not even lasting 30 minutes - the worst part is getting out afterward, at which point the level of foot traffic can very depending on your muster location. If your station is in Studio B, a good tip is to cut through the casino on the way out as the Entertainment Place area gets very congested. I had read this tip prior to my Harmony cruise last year and, knowing from my SetSail Pass that my station would be located inside the rink, made a point to follow that advice on Day 1 and managed to go back to the room to post pictures and text friends goodbye before heading to sailaway, and even then I still got up to Deck 16 with plenty of time, given that our drill on this cruise began at 3:45 and dismissed after about maybe 20-25 minutes, give or take. We were also lucky enough to be seated towards the back row near an exit. We have also been assigned to the theater and MDR on earlier Oasis class cruises and have never had trouble watching the sailaway on time despite the crowds we experienced while exiting these locations.

Either way, you’ll have time to secure a sailaway spot - perhaps you could set it up before the drill so that it’s all ready to go when you get back? I don’t think it should be an issue getting it onboard. Whatever you choose to do, have a great time, don’t worry about a thing, all you need to do is get yourself excited! You’ll have a wonderful time on the grand Oasis!

  16. While I have not been to Coco Cay in several years, I have heard plenty of things about the facelift and can’t wait to go back. That said, there will be bar service on the island, and IIRC, I think I heard somewhere that they will be adding a food venue as well. Have a great time!

  17. As I mentioned earlier, I have never seen a medevac, but do have a related heartwarming story.

Two years ago on Liberty, on Day 2 I was walking back to my cabin after a morning at the pool to get changed for lunch when an Alpha (medical) call came over the PA for an incident at the FlowRider. My brother, who spends most of the day there boogie boarding, mentioned in conversation that evening that he heard a rumor that a 12-year-old had suffered a heart attack. This scared us a little, and we were hoping the child was okay. We never heard anything until the last day of the cruise when we went to the Captain’s Corner, and Captain James MacDonald presented the Royal Caribbean Hero Award to a deck attendant who happened to be in the right place at the right time and helped this child, possibly saving his/her life. While the rumor was never confirmed that there was a heart attack, the Captain said that if it hadn’t been for the swift actions of this crew member, the child may not have made it, but thanks to him, the child was doing well. This warmed my heart not only to see such heroism, but also to see the crew member being publicly recognized for it. Just another reason to be Loyal to Royal! As far as I know, there was no medevac needed in this case, and needless to say everyone was happy to hear the good news regarding the child’s condition.

Thanks again for sharing, and I hope the person(s) involved is doing well. Have a great rest of your cruise!

  18. Most of the time it is possible, however in select cases, the structure of the ship is designed as such that there is no removable divider - but the chances of this happening are rare, and more than likely your cabin steward will be able to do it. We did it on the Freedom this past March and thoroughly enjoyed it!
