  1. I have never had problems on the Caribbean Princess and I have been on her 3 times and leaving for a 4th this Saturday.  I love the Promenade deck, and while it is smaller than some other ships I always feel they do crowd dispersal quite well.  I never felt crowded in, except maybe when waiting to ender the MDR at peak times. I also love their Lido Deck pizza and the Sanctuary.

Also bring bug wipes for your legs if you are by the trees, we had no-see-um bites after one visit (but totally worth it for the shade).

Oh man, that happened to me in January. It was 65 degrees and pouring rain. We got off to see if it would clear up. It didn't, and I was covered with bites the rest of the trip.

  3. I find clamshells to be massive heat traps. They provide shade but no air flow. If it is in your budget I highly recommend the bungalows. Shade, air-conditioning, a quiet beach area... it usually ends up being my favorite day of the cruise. But I realize budgets and priorities do vary.

  4. I've never done Iceland, but I've been on the Caribbean Princess three times with a fourth coming up next week, and I have always loved it.  I feel like the Crown Grill is always better than on the Royal Class ships.  It is a smaller ship but I don't feel crowded and I feel like they do crowd dispersal very well. It doesn't have Alfredo's but Slice is better than the Lido pizza on the Royal ships.  It's not a bells-and-whistles ship but we're low maintenance.  We only had one technical problem in those trips, and that was AC trouble a few nights on one sailing. We propped our balcony door at night and got a great sea breeze, didn't even miss the AC. But if we had complained I'm sure it would have been handled or compensated one way or another.

TLDR: I think the CB complaints are a bit overblown but everyone cruises differently and as different priorities.  If you love the intinerary I wouldn't let the ship deter you.

  5. Dinner was not the smoothest in terms of wait time. Truthfully, I like traditional dining and I kind of thought our reservation for a private table was going to be the equivalent. We had to probably wait about 15 minutes to be seated which is not the end of the world but not what I expected.

I ordered the Southern fried chicken which is consistently decent, IMO. My husband got the pork tenderloin. He liked it, but when I tell you the portion was microscopic... I should have taken a picture. Not a big hardship when you can order as much as you want but he's a good eater and we both kind of laughed when we saw the size! Our waiters were very nice and running around like crazy. This crew works hard!

Ugh....and I'm sure it was over something extremely petty.

They were annoyed to have to wait because they wanted to book for a whole week and felt they should have priority.

My husband made the point that maybe something really stressful happened to their group before embarkation... it's possible, I just felt bad that passengers had been on for 20 minutes and the crew was already being hassled. He took it in stride though.

    Luggage was just dropped off!

  7. I'll be honest, I choked up as we stepped off the gangway and the crew was clapping. It was so sweet. We are now in the Coral Dining Room for lunch. I was the third person up at the Sanctuary to book loungers! We booked them for Tues, Weds and Fri. Someone was already giving the Sanctuary steward a hard time. I just smiled at him and told him I was happy to be on board.

Seriously, I am so happy nothing could bother me right now!

Glad you made it.  I had been thinking if it were me, I'd have driven quite a bit further the first day.

I actually thought about that myself. Normally we leave on a Friday when my husband gets off work and Fayetteville is as far as we can get. Since he was off this Friday we could have left earlier and gone farther but he is a creature of habit and we always stop at the same hotel. 😁

Hey there! We are on the 12\13 sailing (also from NoVa - Woodbridge). Wondering if you’re doing any non-Princess excursions. Have fun and thanks for sharing your experience.

Hey neighbor! We are not doing any non-Princess excursions. We have a few times in the past and always had good experiences with Shore Excursioneer, but with rules in Flux as they are we are playing it safe this time.

I requested to be addressed by my middle name because that is what I have always been called.  Don’t ask me why they didn’t just name me that first🤷‍♀️

Ahhh makes sense... I thought it was some kind of extreme etiquette concern. That did not occur to me.  🙂

  11. Okay everyone, our at-home Covid tests were NEGATIVE!  That means we will be on the road at about noon today.  We purchased the Abbott Binax Rapid Antigent Test and it was very easy and user-friendly.  The process takes about 20 minutes because they do make you wait the whole 15 minutes for results.

Tonight we stop in Fayetteville, North Carolina!

    Definateley watching this,

we're getting married on her. Granted it's not until May of 2022, but we have lots of questions about how she looks.

    Thanks for the thread.

Congrats! This is the first ship my husband and I sailed on together, and oddly enough it has always been the one we have sailed on when going without the kids, so to me it is the most romantic ship.  🙂

  13. Hi everyone! God willing, I will be on the Caribbean Princess's first voyage back! (Covid test pending, of course!) I will be doing a live thread of my journey starting Friday. So if you want you can drop a follow here and if you post any questions I will be glad to try to get an answer for you on board.

A little about us: My husband (42) and I (37) live in Northern Virginia and are driving to FLL. This cruise is just us, no kids. Eastern Caribbean with St. Kitts. We are staying in a balcony stateroom on the Caribe deck, and we are platinum. I post menus and patters! We love the Caribbean and are so happy to be going back.
