  1. You can no longer call in for an up sell on the getaway or escape. They are doing a email up sell only. And yes you can get emails from ncl if you went through a travel agent that is only of your travel agent did not opt out of their new program

  2. I am currently on the breakaway now. While it is vacation week for some in new York and new jersey the ship is quite crowded with kids. Most of them are behaving alright but because of the handful that are not I am glad I am in a suite where I can go to a separate section to enjoy the hot tub and pool. As I walk by there was about 6 or 7 children and 1 adult alone in one hot tub. Kids screaming and running around no parent in site. Conversation on elevator is how could they just let there children run around with no supervision. Parents yelling at children and children not paying them any attention. But I guess parents and children are saying hey I'm on vacation anything goes. If I were you I would at least try to get a vibe pass and if not make use of spice h2o where it's a no kid zone from 8am-7pm

  3. I surprised Hubby on the cruise I am currently sailing breakaway ny to bahamas Nov 7-13. Told hubby just follow my lead and we are sneaking into the haven using our old passes. He followed me and he was like oh my we are going to jail. Lol then he caught on.

  4. NCL rolled out a test campaign on 2 ships the getaway and escape only. They sent out emails to see if you would like to bid on an upgraded room. If this process works and NCL is able to generate more monies then I believe they will roll it out fleet wide. However on all other NCL ships old policy still applies will send out up sell emails to a few but you can also call the up sell dept. And see if you can upgrade

  5. We have partaked in the haven once this past April and I can tell you that my husband totally enjoyed it and stated he did not want to travel any other way. Why because there is no crowds. Myself I love the crowds the mingling the everything that is what cruising is all about. But to him he comes because I ask. So when I surprised him with the haven he said wait so I don't have to leave this section at all. I said not at all. He said well go have fun this is where you will find me. So it's the best of both worlds. We have not reached top tier status so we love the early em/debarkation love the priority tender status etc... However I am also one that has not yet paid the full price of a haven my last cruise was an upsell. This cruise that I will be going on November 6 is an upsell. So would I pay that astronomical price in the beginning for a haven cabin. Noway. I will continue to book a balcony cabin or a mini suite and hope for the best. If I can score then cool beans if not then I will try for the vibe.

  6. I am looking at hotels also. As of right now I am leaning towards either intercontinental or YVE those are the 2 I hears most good reviews about. We are coming in a few days early and just want to relax.

  7. I've been out of the NCL loop for a bit and stopped by after pricing out a few cruises this morning.

Very interesting pricing strategy. Maybe it was discussed, but it seems like this would create a huge domino effect of rotating inventory availability. The nerd in me wonders what kind of software they have that can accurately manage inventory and pricing with a setup that is so fluid.

On the other hand, it seems like they are having a hard time filling their high priced cabins or the upsell game got out of hand. I've said before, there absolutely no way I would pay $7,500+ for a week in a Haven cabin knowing the guy next to me may have got that same cabin through Upsell for $2500. I totally get the benefit to an early booking and yeah, you may not get the <90 day out fire sale price, but that is way too significant for me to justify.

I would have to agree! If and when I ever get into the Haven again I will call the up sell department and get it for dirt cheap. Or it wasn't for the having.

  8. That is good to know. I am also going to do a comparison between NCL and Royal Caribbean Comp Casino cruise. I just received a comp offer from RCCL for a ocean view room. So far what I like was with RCCL you only have to pay for taxes so that cruise was 288 for a 7 day cruise out of Miami. My comp inside from NCL was 600 total they said I had to pay for tax and port charges and some other fees. with RCCL the 288 was tax only for both of us. Hopefully I will enjoy my time on the RCCL like I do on the NCL

  9. Interesting. I received it and didn't gamble a lot. Pointswise I was only up to the level for a $5 refund. My hubby, who gambled even less than me, did not receive the email. Maybe they are targeting a little lower level than typical but not as little as my hubby played. [emoji848]

  10. I was fortunate to receive this offer also. OV cabin foe 288 also had plenty of free sky miles do I had to rake advantage of it. DH says we shouldn't go due to the fact we have one scheduled in November. I said either with you or without you I am going. He caved. With reading all the reviews I may upgrade to JS don't like to be closed in.
