I carried it around with me and failed miserably in trying new drinks.  I stuck to my usual...wine.  LOL  I hope you have fun with it!

I think the best part of the UBP is being able to try new drinks.   If I don't like something, I don't feel like I have wasted my money and just get something else!

Try a Rebellious Fish! It's passion fruit and orange with sparkling wine, garnished with berries. One of NCL's signature drinks, so you should be able to get them at any bar. Delicious and refreshing, and not too sweet.

     🙂

Oh yes - forgot about these.  Got plenty of them at the atrium bar on the Breakaway.  Got to the point that when the bartender saw me coming, she started making one!

    Hello everyone,

I can't give proper credit to the author of this wonderful spreadsheet, so I hope someone here will be able to do so.  One of the CC members posted this.  It sure made waiting for my last cruise lots of fun.  I hope it does the same for you.

Thanks for posting the link - printed it!!!  Now if I only have the time to try them all without falling over!!!!

It depends on which bar I end up at first. If I go straight to O'sheehan's/The Local for lunch, then I will either do a Screwdriver or that Jack Daniel's Lemonade thing they have on the menu there. If it's the Atrium Bar right after boarding, it's a Mr. Worldwide (god I love those!). If it's one of the pool deck bars, it's a Mango Meltdown.

What's in the Mr Worldwide?  Never heard of it!   Thanks!

Was it orange with red? If so, that's a mango meltdown... Although, when I get it, I order it as a mango margarita, with patron silver, (and no strawberry syrup, or amoretto)

It was more red.  I had the mango meltdown later in the cruise.  That was wonderful!

Thanks for the reminder.  Going to have to start a to-do drink list!

  6. Hello everyone.  Getting excited for our June cruise to Bermuda,  Fourth time to the island, first time on the Escape.  Two years ago when sailing on the Breakaway, we were at the bar near Spice H2O to get our first drink of the cruise.  Someone in front of me got something frozen that looked wonderful.  So I asked the bartender to make me the same thing.  I can't remember what it was.  So - my question for you summer cruisers - what drink do you usually get to start your cruise?  Can't wait to hear some of your answers!  Thanks everyone!

  7. We have done several cruises and love them.  For a different experience, we decided to try an all-inclusive in Punta Cana.  It was nice to have the chance to compare the two experiences.  Don't know if I am allowed to mention the resort we stayed at, so will leave that out for now.

For us, there is no comparison, really.  We love to explore and do things.  Typically when we vacation we travel through the area and visit as many places as we can.  We were told by the resort that it was not safe to leave the resort on our own.  If we wanted to do something not offered by the resort we needed to book with a tour - for an extra expense.  We loved the opportunity to relax around the pool, but if you didn't get there by 10 or 11 in the morning, there would be no place to sit.  There were limited places to eat and the food was so-so.  Entertainment options were very limited (and very poor quality).  My take on this experience (and that of everyone in my family) - if you want to spent your time at the pool and drink all day, then this is the place to go.  We decided this was not for us,

We love cruising.  Always something to do, lots of different places to eat.  And then there's the destination to explore.  Hubby calls cruising two vacations.  One to relax and have fun while you are on the ship and one when you get to your destination.

I know that everyone has different experiences so someone else may find all-inclusives to be amazing (probably also depends on where you go).  For us, we could have gone on another cruise for about the same price without the hassle of flying.

I need to add to be fair- we went with a group of 40 people.  There were many in our group who really liked the all-inclusive and some who even booked for this summer again.  So it really depends on what you are looking for.

  8. Have done NCL, Carnival and RC.  NCL is by far our favorite.  Didn't like Carnival - too many people who were way too drunk, carrying on all night and throwing up in the hallways (and who knows where else).  Also too many adolescents running around looking for trouble (literally trying to start fights with people!).  Never again.  RC was nice as it was our first cruise,  Smaller ship (Explorer of the Seas) and really great staff.

Our first NCL cruise was on the Breakaway - LOVED it!  Always something to do.  Staff was great.  So many places to eat and get a drink.  The biggest selling point for us is the freestyle dining,  It's so nice to know that we don't have to go to dinner at a set time.  And not having to pack extra clothes for a formal night is another plus.

  9. We were on the Breakaway twice.  I only had a hard time getting a drink once at the Mixx Bar (between Taste and Savor),  I even waved money at the bartender and he ignored me.  Got tired of waiting and went into the dining room.  Got my drink from the waiter at dinner.  He was very happy to take my tip.  I always give an extra dollar or two when I get a drink - even though the gratuities are paid.  When I walked up to most of the bars, the bar tenders recognize me and serve me very quickly - over some who have been waiting before me.  One of the bar tenders at the atrium bar would see me walking up and start making my drink right away - it would often be ready by the time I got to the bar - now that's service!  (She earned a lot of extra money in tips from me that week.)

  10. People have been reporting that is the case.  It still shows up in my entertainment choices for a June cruise.  They are now in th Escape theater.  You can't book ahead, though.  The booking page says you must book on board.

  11. Thought I would add my experience about this.  Sailing on the Escape in June.  Normally, our adult daughter sails with us as the third person in the room.  We chose the drink package for the promo, so she would not get the free drinks.  The charge for her to get the drink package, plus, the gratuities for the package and the charge as the third person in the room came was crazy!  It was about 200 to 300 dollars more for her to book a studio.  She was willing to pay the extra $ herself and chose the drink package as her promotion.  She has her own room now and we have more privacy (plus extra room).

  12. Hello everyone.  We are sailing on the Escape to Bermuda in a few months.  Normally, my youngest daughter (28) rooms with us.  With this cruise she will have her own studio cabin.  While daughter is pretty independent, she is autistic and sometimes needs a little help with things.  Are we allowed to enter the Studio area to provide assistance if she needs it?  I am not asking to have card access to her room - but rather can she bring us into the area and her room with her card?

    Thanks everyone!

  13. Does anyone know if NCL has gift cards?  I have some friends who are cruising with us and they are a little tight with money.  Would love to be able to give them a gift card so they can have a little more spending money on the ship.  If gift cards are available, can they be used to prepay onboard expenses?  Thanks everyone.  You are all so helpful!

  14. My TA has a program that automatically alerts her when there are price drops and calls me to see if I am interested,  If it's just a few dollars, I tell her not to bother.  But if significant enough, I ask her to pursue the matter.  That is her job!

To let everyone know, sometimes the price drop only affects the guaranteed cabins (where they pick your room) and there would be no extra discount for the passenger.

I know it's a bother for the TA to make changes,  Mine tells me that sometimes she is on hold for an hour or more waiting to have an NCL agent answer the phone.  But again - it's her job.  Her willingness to work with me and save ME money is the reason I keep going back to her.
