No issue with that.   My comment was based on what NCL says about the age.   I'm assuming they have that because they want adults spending money in the specialty places.  If someone chooses to eat off the kids menu and use a meal credit, then I agree...why not?

I have had older teens order off of the kids menu in a few speciality restaurants (because it’s what they wanted to eat)…and it was free. I suspect it would be for adults as well.

    I see 2 options.

1- The Executor of the estate gets NCL to refund the money to the estate.  If they were CruiseNext deposits, they are likely going to get back only half of the face value as they are often sold in a BOGO offer on the ship.

2- NCL doesn't allow a refund, but with proof of the death allows the Executor to request that the CND's get transferred to another Latitudes account.  Bear in mind there that they can only be transferred once.

Finally - sorry for your loss.

I haven’t seen or heard of any limitations on how many times a CND can be transferred. FCC can only be transferred once.

  3. What happens when the credit card you used to purchase your cruise has been closed?  This really upsets about the FCC's and the 20 percent. discount I booked early and let them keep my money all that time.
I have a headache this is so frustrating.

If you took the FCC, it doesn’t matter what credit card you used for the original cruise - you can’t get a refund, you can only get FCC.

  4. Just spoke with an NCL rep who informed me we will not be getting a refund only a FCC.
Would love to know if anyone has any idea if this is it or if I have any other recourse.
Quick backstory: booked a cruise that was canceled in the first covid wave of cancellations in March. Chose to rebook using FCC for July. Saw that was not going to be a go so rebooked for January. DH has COPD so knew it was both risky for him and read about the medical paperwork needed so canceled altogether in June. Was told refund would go on cc within 90 days. That passed last week so called today and was told since we used the FCC back in March vs taking the refund at that time, we are not getting our money back even though I have a cancellation letter that reads "net due" and the rep told me our money would be refunded. So looks to me like I am out of gas and they get to keep our money because I don't see DH being given medical go ahead to said anytime soon and Capital One has been zero help. Does anyone see any other options?? TIA

You won’t be able to get a cash refund. But NCL is now allowing people to sell/transfer their FCC to someone else - one time.

  5. In the past it seems we paid off out cruise off approximately 2 months. Prior to cruise and suites 2 1/2 -3 months ahead. Now it is 4 months before the cruise.  Is this another COVID casualty ?

NCL changed the final payment due date from 90 days to 120 days in the spring of 2018.

  6. I called NCL yesterday about my January 2021 and January 2022 cruises. The total cost of my 2021 cruise went down $93 plus I got $200 OBC (I lost one specialty dining, but we were going to try the American Diner...and the OBC will more than cover that, especially if we just get a couple appetizers). The total cost of my 2022 cruise was exactly the same, but now I have $200 OBC.

I knew that and am eligible.  The posters information was incorrect, not all the checks went out this week, they are being sent out in batches based on income of the person receiving the check, so I'll have to wait some weeks.

All of the direct deposits are going out now, and not in order of income. When they start issuing paper check, they will process the lower income ones first.

  8. No, they will not offer an upgrade. I asked. I'd also rather have a spa pass, Vibe pass, cabin upgrade...anything.  They are only offering 25% shipboard credit for the difference in price drop.  This is what we get for booking early. Will never deal with NCL again.  Part of my family are paying MORE for an inside cabin than balcony cabins are currently selling for.

I would call back. The inside cabin should be able to upgrade to a balcony (but it might not be near the other two balconies, it depends on what is available). Otherwise, they often offer 25% of the price drop as OBC. Just remember, after final payment due date they don’t have to do anything.

I have no problem with the deposit amount just the final payment date.

The cancel time period is also shortened

I think final payment was more like 6 or 8 weeks before sail date in the past.  .

Final payment due date used to be 90 days (3 months) before sailing. In the spring of 2018, they changed it to 120 day’s before sailing (4 months).

when you take the shore ex package do you get $50 credit on NCL private island and if so, what is there to apply it to?

    thanks

Yes...cabana or clamshell rental, other excursions like jet ski or snorkeling tours.

  11. As soon as you get on the ship, go to Entourage and register your teens. They will give you a schedule for the week - most events/activities they don’t need to sign up for; but they will tell you if there are any will need to sign up for during registration (for example, on the Epic over NYE....they needed to sign up if they wanted the tour of the crew areas or if they wanted to go bowling. Only due to limited capacity). Anyway, they can’t just show up...they have to be registered.

Highly recommend that your teens go to Entourage the first night....the kids find their friends for the week (whether they hang out in Entourage or elsewhere on the ship).

Should be able to.  The TVs are usually on swivels.  I usually access a USB port to charge a device.

Only thing is that I forget if the TV remote allows you to change the source.  I'm sure someone will know

I read somewhere else that you need to bring a universal tv remote, in order to change the source. And then it should work. I’ve never tried it.

What time did you arrive at the port on embarkation day? We're trying to figure out the best time for our arrival next month.

We left our hotel in Candado at 12:15 to drive to the Pan American Piers. Drove to port (pre-arranged taxi), dropped of luggage, went through security, did the checkin, and on the ship by 12:40.

  14. We were on the Epic 12/29 sailing out of San Juan. I had originally selected a check in time of 11:00am, but about 1.5 weeks before sailing received a email from NCL to not arrive until 1:00pm. (Our driver confirmed that the prior weeks were a mess when people arrived to port early and the people getting off were still trying to leave, there is only one road in/out which got very congested and no one could move). We left our Condado hotel at 12:15pm, as I assumed there would be some traffic. We went through security and check-in....and were on the ship by 12:40pm. Fastest embarking ever. (Also...fastest disembarking on 1/5. Left our cabin at 8:00, met parents, walked off, found luggage, and in our taxi by 8:30).
