I'm on the same sailing and I didn't receive any notification either. I even logged onto MyNCL on the website thinking I may have a notification about the San Juan delay, NOPE. Since you received luggage tags in the mail I take it for granted you will be a Haven guest.  I'm guessing NCL doesn't care what time 2nd class passengers like myself arrive at the terminal. if lower class passengers have to stand outside in the sun for a couple of hours who cares.

Thanks for giving the rest of us a heads up Sweetnspicy.

We were in a balcony....got an email 12 days before our 12/29 cruise. Did you book through a TA? If yes, maybe the email when to the TA?

  2. Think of the CNC as buying the at half-price. You buy two for $250 out of pocket ($500 charged to your account and then a credit for $250). The face value of each is $250 ($500 total) and that can be used as a deposit/payment on your next cruise.

I think if you book onboard, you get a very slight upgrade in the room category (like BB to BA)?

I’m not sure how the Haven certificates work.

No letter here yet. Our docs say 12 noon boarding.we took NCL flight and transfer. We. Shall see with our 8 other fam members. JAN 26 cruise.

I had selected 11:00 checkin for my cruise, doesn’t matter....they don’t want you there before 1:00 (per the email). I arrived at 12:30pm and it was fine. What time does your flight arrive?

  4. We were on the Epic 12/29/19 to 01/05/20 and had received a similar letter. We left our hotel in Candado at 12:15 and were onboard (through security, checkin, etc) by 12:40. There were no lines. Fastest embarking we’ve ever had!

There is one road in/out. They need to get everyone off the ship and away from port before people arrive for the next cruise, or it becomes a horrible mess.

    Hi all,

We recently booked our first NCL cruise for March 7 on Escape. I went to make reservations for speciality dining tonight and noticed that there were very few spots left. Can anyone tell me if more time slots will open?

    Thanks!

They open about 25% of the time slots 120 days before sailing. You’ll want to book as soon as you board.

If you take the free drink pkg for guests 1 and 2, do you have to purchase for the rest of the people in the cabin?

You don’t have to purchase a package for guests 3+. They have the option to pay for drinks as they go or they can buy one of the drink packages.

@mnventure Thank you for the response. If they ever decide to bring the air promo back and I am in a similar situation I will have to press them further on it. I will note that it doesn't necessarily say they can't or won't accommodate multiple reservations on the same flights if possible. Something I will just have to double check with them on.

Right...you could get lucky and get on the same flights. It's just not guaranteed.

I was told differently by the NCL Rep over the phone when we did the air with them in multiple cabins. When we called to link the reservations together and requested the same air, they said they would be able to do it - just no guarantees everyone would be seated together. Nonetheless the OP was really lucky they were able to change it. I will note that flying down we had Delta and returning it was with American. While I was able to use my Delta SkyMiles account going down, for whatever reason American didn't let me use my AAdvantage Number for miles because the ticket was booked through a 3rd party.

Unfortunately, the NCL phone agent gave you wrong information over the phone. As NCL's Terms and Conditions for the reduced air promo were (see the red text, which means that you have to be in the same cabin as each reservation is only for one cabin):

I checked last night and the price of our cabin had dropped considerably. I e-mailed my TA last night, she called as I got home from work, she said, NCL, would upgrade us from a balcony to a mini-suite. I accepted and had my e-docs when I checked after dinner. I realize a Mini, is not much different from a balcony but the tub will be a nice add on. I always book early to get cheaper airfare, and although the price reduction is probably greater than the upgrade, I feel fortunate, looking forward to our cruise!

Did you confirm that your mini comes with a tub? Not every mini-suite has a tub...

I sail on the Epic from San Juan leaving at 9 PM.  Does anybody know if the drink package is available on embarkation day and if so is sales tax charged then as it is the US?

The drink package will be available as soon as you board. Puerto Rico has a sales tax (and is a US Territory) so it is likely that there will be sales tax on the drinks while in port. I will find out for for next month. 😉

We are taking our first NCL cruise in 2020.  We are Platinum with Disney and usually purchase their placeholder which is $250, and have enjoyed getting 10% off future cruises, and up until recently OBC of $100 -$200.  Their program is 100% refundable, and if not used after 2 years your money is returned.

I have read the information at the above link, am I understanding it correctly that all you get with NCL is the on board credit for your current cruise?  Do they give any other perks for when you actually book the cruise like the 10% discount?  Also, if you don't use the certificate in 4 years, do you get the money back or do you loose it?  Being our first cruise we of course aren't positive we will want to sail NCL again, but I am hopeful we will have a great time and I'm just trying to plan ahead to see how much extra we might want to budget for certificates.

Thank you in advance for your help.

No additional perks, only perk is paying $125 and it’s worth $250. The certificate is “use it or lose it”; however, sometimes they will extend it to be longer than 4 years. Also, you can always sell your certificate to someone else - just need to call NCL with their latitudes number.

    Hi,

received an email that our air tickets were issued 86 days before our cruise.....worried with the timing and missing the cruise .....is it possible to get a deviation now that we have been ticketed?

I’ve heard that you can only do deviations before the air tickets are booked. To find out for sure, you’ll need to call NCL.

Good Morning ... This question s twofold ...

    1. I will be taking excursions solo ... do I still received the $50.00 credit or is it cut to $25.00 per person per port ?

    2. I am also platinum plus ... Is this discount negated or is there such thing as a "double discount" ?

    Thanks in advance ...

It’s $50 per cabin. And the latitude discount is taken off first, then the $50.

Isn’t most onboard credit offered by travel agents the non-refundable kind, which can’t be used for daily service charges?

    https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/travel-blog/how-to-onboard-credit

Note: Onboard credit has no monetary value and is non-transferable. It may not be used toward onboard service charges or pre-purchased activities.”

Regardless, $150/person with drink package is quite the deal. Wish I had that option coming from Canada.

OBC offered by TA’s is usually (always?) refundable and can be used for DSC. OBC offered by NCL is non-refundable and cant be used for DSC.

I just booked a cruise with air, which I have never done before. I understand they wait until 75 days before the cruise to setup the flights. That said, I may want to upgrade or alter the schedule. Is this feasible ( with fees, of course)? Probably an obvious question, but would like some first-hand knowledge.

    Vic

I don’t think you can alter the schedule. You may be able to upgrade your seat, after the flight is ticketed (but it may be closer to 45 days before you get your flight information.)

We will be sharing a 2 bedroom suite with another couple, we are platinum plus the other couple are platinum. Am I correct that there will only be one dinner for two in Cagneys or Le Bistro and one dinner for two in La Cucina or Moderno?

I believe that is correct, since you are in one cabin. The Latitude Tier benefits clearly state that the dinner vouchers are “per stateroom”.

Officially no. You can not use them on a cruise that is already booked and has a deposit made on it

What your T.A or CC do is another story But the Consultants onboard will tell you they are for Non existing New bookings only.

There are plenty of ways to work around that though.  you'll figure it out . 🙂

The old if you don't ask you don't get  comes to mind here.

I was able to use a certificate online, on an already booked cruise, in MyNCL account.

So their official policy isn’t “too official” when their website allows it to work.
