Your dogs are adorable and I fully understand how difficult it is to leave an animal for so long. Is Rhodri a Welsh name? I have to leave my blue eyed white cat, Souiexie, and although I have a friend staying at the house, I still worry. Thank you so much for your input. It might be the best to contact a Cumnock Taxi, I hadn't thought about that. I did find that it was only 43 miles away so perhaps I could hire them for the day.

Can anybody suggest a way I might be able to get to Dumfries House from Greenock and how far it is? Done all the other sites in the past, but the renovated house and Thomas Carlyle furniture have been on my bucket list for years. It is not listed in any tours and wonder if taking a taxi there and back would be prohibitive?
