  1. Yes,we did. A couple nights the line was out the door we walked in showed the woman that was directing people to the waiters to be seated our gold card.we were seated immediately. One night she took us to our table herself. It's not written as a perk it's just something I learned from a passenger on one of our cruises.

  2. Was just reading on a blog that on The Independance now you have to sign a waiver when you purchase the drinks package with someone commenting that they were refused a drink after they had 6 for there own safety. The ship is coming to Southampton soon so maybe that has something too do with it but are they really going to refuse and embarrass people after 6 drinks in one day.

Most of the cruise I've been on while having the drink package after the first day they don't even scan my card. So unless your acting like a total idiot they don't care how much you drink.

  3. Is the drink package worth it? Trying to convince the wife it is.

Yes if you drink like we do!even on the allure with the suite lounge access with free beer and wine from 11-11 we still bought it. It's so worth it and very convenient.

  4. We have probably used them over a dozen times, without any problems. Also, if you fold the departure tags slightly, they fit in the holders nicely.

Bob so these do work for the tags royal sends you before the cruise?I've been wanting to buy some but didn't know if it was just for the paper ones. Thanks

  5. Since they have raised the prices so high, I see many many empty cabanas.

Your chances have improved, if you actually want to pay that much money for a hut for a few hours.

Yes it's has gotten ridiculous. We didn't rent one two weeks ago due to the price being doubled since the last time we were there. I thought $250 was pushing it but $495 for a hut we used for maybe an hour nap just isn't worth it. Since we're in the water a majority of the time floating on the free mats they give you We just got two chairs under a tree and enjoyed it just as much as having a cabana.

  6. On the allure last week on the right side of the WJ where they make fried eggs you can also get eggs Benedict. I ate them the few times we went up there. They are freshly made as I walked up they put a new plateful out.Don't know if your in a suite but you can also get it in coastal kitchen.

  7. I was on the 4/3 sailing of the Allure and was told the same thing about no escort, just walk off yourself. The 2 concierge's were the least accommodating of any we have ever had.

We were on the same sailing and I was just talking to my wife about the concierges because i noted it in my review. They had their heads buried in the computer practically the whole time they would not even look up when someone walked into the suite lounge.I didnt know if there was going to be an escort off or not but i didnt want to bother them so i didnt ask.As we made our way off the ship and just before the escalators there was a sign for suite guests to exit out of line and use the elevator then someone in the luggage area took us to our luggage and then put us first in line for customs. So that was a big plus since we got off around 8:30 and it was a little busy.

  8. My family, (wife, soon to be 6 month old, and me) will be doing Allure soon and I wanted to get a feel for what, if any, RCI is doing about this in port or at sea near ports? Also, I wanted to ask what any recent passengers have done (stayed on the ship, used bug spray, wore long sleeves in port, etc.) to deal with the issue. Did anyone go as far as to avoid the pool while in port in Labadee?

I'm far from paranoid about any of this but I want to be prudent and responsible. We are seasoned cruisers (D+ on RCI) and while we love going into ports we don't care that much just staying on the ship because of Zika. We just want to be at sea on Allure (and two sets of grandparents will be on board so we will have lots of help with our little bundle of joy). We are planning on more children in the near future so while a low risk, the negative outcome is enormous so we don't want to stop cruising but want to be cautious. Because of our recent daughter we haven't been able to cruise in over a year and we are chomping at the bit to be at sea again.

I would love to hear from any other people in a similar scenario (or any scenario) as to what they did to protect themselves during port days in infected areas? I haven't been able to find anything practical for guidance so perhaps a thread like this could help.

    Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

We were on the Allure last week and They sent us an email about the virus a few days before the cruise and i think we had a flyer in our room.I wouldn't worry about it while in port during the day or on the ship.
