  1. That price seems less expensive than I've seen on board. The onboard price I've seen is $15 per day. An onboard purchase could take advantage of your $30 discount for being Diamond.

ok Thanks Bob i calculated a savings of just $1.50 to purchase now.I was surprised at how cheap it is.We never buy it but we are taking our DD who is 9 and wants to bring her tablet. Thanks again

  2. I havent been following the internet pricing because we never purchase it but i just logged into my cruise planner and saw that it is $10.50 per day per device for our Allure cruise.Has this been the going rate recently?Should i purchase now or do you think it might be cheaper or the same on board.I am diamond if that matters.Thank You

  3. The gratuities are added once I the cart at checkout. My premium package came up $39/day per person then once I got to checkout it came to a total of $647 and some change ($47 and change/day per person) I actually had the non-sale packages in my cart for $809 (with grats) and it said it was no longer available so if it's available on a sailing it will automatically default to the sale price :)

Yes that's what I got for allure April 3 $647 instead of $809 I wasn't going to purchase it but I guess I will now. that's a pretty good discount.

  4. Mark,

Whether using a TA is worth it depends upon the TA and the cruise you are booking. The amount of savings from using a TA depends on the TA and the cost of the cruise. I've seen many TA who offer no benefits. I can't understand why anyone would use one of those.

There are other TA who offer significant discounts or OBC or both. Suppose you're booking a $500 inside, you might get something less than $50 in OBC. If you're booking a $5000 Crown Loft Suite, you might get $400 or $500 OBC.

Personally, I've booked direct and I've booked through TAs. I find having 'control of reservations' to be over-rated.

I always book myself on board and get the obc royal gives you then I transfer it to her when I get back and she'll give me a little extra obc. the amount of the obc depends on if she has a group booking for that sailing or not.

  5. They left out the fact that you can only do that provided lifeboat capacity is still available. It has happened to others, particularly on holiday and spring break cruises that lifeboat capacity gets reached fairly quickly as more families booking 4 to a room are travelling.

If you think that there is a chance that you would take your granddaughter then book her in now to secure the space then cancel if she does not go.

    Thanks

  6. We had one twice when you got the upgraded buffet. The first year we had excellent service and totally enjoyed the experience. Second year our attendant all but ignored us.....had to ask for towels, floating mats, etc. She was bothered when she was asked to get drinks. Now that the price has drastically increased and there's no upgraded buffet, we will skip it. I don't think it would be worth it.

We've done it twice and both times our attendant was awesome. The first time I would just wave to him and he would come out in waist high water and bring our drinks. Last month he came and checked on us every 10 mins I just let him hold my sea pass card and I would swim up to the ladder and He would hand our drinks down. The upgraded buffet was also very good. We had an awesome time.

  7. I know my TA's never checked and unti lthe last few cruises I didn't even know that excited thanks to cruise critic I do.

When I called mind they gave me a lecture about that and I had to press for them to do it almost beg. I mean we are talking about 400$. Lets just say I never used them again and book everything myself now. I like being in control of my own reservation

I also like controlling my own reservation. It's not worth the little extra obc you get. I can't immediately call for a price drop I had to email my TA on a Sunday which is probably her day off and who knows the price could go up on Monday morning. Also I make monthly payments and I was able to do it right on the website now I have to email my TA to let her know when and how much to pay. I know it's their job but I just feel like I'm bothering her and being a pita.

  8. I always book my own cruises and do periodic mock bookings to see if there was a price drop and if there was I would call and get it reduced. Does a TA monitor your cruises and call if the price drops or do they just check before final payment?i just can't see them keeping track of everybody's cruises.
