  1. Could you share the number please or at least how I can find it?

I had to change a cruise 2 weeks ago and had nothing but problems. It is rare I even need to call about my reservations but the one time I did, it was just the most awful experience.

I am so pleased to hear that you got your reservations booked and changed with no issues.

  2. Hi,

I am sure people have used private tour companies from this port to explore Pisa and Florence, has anyone had a bad experience, for instance has getting you back to the ship on time been a concern?

    Thanks, BP.

I can't say anything but good things about Papilon who I used last October for tours to Pisa and Rome. Even in Rome when we were quite a drive from the port, I never had any worries. Some companies offer assurances, such as paying to get you to the next port if you miss the ship, if you are concerned about it look for one of those companies.

  3. $250.00 What am I missing? At $7.95 you would have to take every meal on a 7N in your stateroom and tip $4.55 every meal to get to that number. Unlikely!

What you are assuming is that the 2 mobility challenged guests are in the same cabin, which hasn't been specified. If they are in different cabins, it is $15.90 a day for each cabin. Over the 7 nights that's $222.60.

Just another way of looking at it... [emoji4]

  4. I'm another vote for whale watching and would highly recommend Glacier Wind Charters. Teresa and Shawn are the most lovely people and from pre-trip questions right through to post-trip, they are nothing but friendly, helpful and welcoming. I felt like old friends with them before I even met them!

  5. I would absolutely do car hire. The drive is stunning (yes, the train is too) but you will have the ability to stop where you want and take in the stunning scenery. Depending on how much time you have, on the drive down you could go and do the Alyeska Tram and also stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - to name just 2 of the options. It's such an easy drive and the benefits are well worth it. Yes, one way car hire can be little expensive but depending on how many people are in your group, it can quickly become cost effective. When I went in 2015, the car hire was cheaper than the train for 2 of us.

  6. It's the ship. We got 2 out of 3 and they were all together on the dock. Already asked guest relations but they don't care until after 7pm when they say all "should" be delivered.

You aren't even out the port yet! You know it does take time. I have had bags given to the porters together and arrived hours apart. It is possible the tag has come off or they want to check the contents with you. There are so many different possibilities. I can well understand your concern but I am sure it will be fine.

  7. Well as reported it's true the upselling is in full force. Twice at lunch while sitting to eat we were approached to book special dining. They also mentioned it after the muster drill.

Too bad in for the first time in 30 cruises we are missing one of our bags.

Since it's the bag with dress clothes no restaurants for us. 😩

The real problem is going to be not having access to the CL or DL for the week. (Oh and yes the missing clothes)

Why won't you have access to CL or DL? So you aren't in a suite or Diamond and above?

I hope your bag shows up.

  8. Thanks. The week we booked has already sold out for all JS, GS, and OS, so we are kind of stuck with what we have, or move to a different week. I am looking at all options...

I'd stick with it, I think you will be fine. Plus, along the way cabins are bound to become available, so if you keep an eye on it and find a cabin location you prefer, switch over.

I totally get it - the week I am sailing all suites bar a few JS were sold in under 24 hours!

  9. Thank you for your reply.

We actually booked an ocean balcony on deck 8 mid ship. Is there any tips for the cabin such as do you bring extra hangers, or magnetic hooks for hanging hats and such...

So the closets are long? From pictures they seem short.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

That sounds like a great location - easy access to Central Park area, which is one of my favourite spots on Oasis class ships. I have never needed extra hangers but if you do, ask your cabin attendant. I don't wear hats so cannot answer that but I guess you could. I am sure people who have stayed in balcony cabins will let you know if there are any specific things that you might benefit from bringing but I have always found everything I have needed is already there.

As I said, I have never had an issue hanging dresses in the cabins I have stayed in... I mean, I am only 5'4'', so my dresses aren't like 6' long or anything ;)

  10. The ship most similar will be Harmony. The other Oasis class ships are Allure and Oasis - they are similar in size and general facilities. All the ships have slight differences though.

I have sailed on Allure and Harmony and had no issue with hanging dresses, there was plenty of room.

Cabin wise it does depend what you want - interior, oceanview, neighbourhood view, balcony, suite etc. I generally stay in suites and have stayed on decks 7 and 9 near the aft set of elevators. Both were great locations. I have also had a forward facing oceanview on deck 9 which was lovely, larger than the standard oceanview and in a very quiet location.

  11. I think that you will love any GS - you will be on an Alaskan cruise! I have had 2 GS's off the centrum and not experienced noise or smoke issues.

All I would say is that being under the solarium should be OK but in Alaska, in my experience, the solarium will get far more use than the pool deck but it really is all dependent on the weather and when in the season you go.

I am sure you will have a great time regardless.

  12. I have stayed in 9108 on Allure. It was a great cabin. The bed was not near the window in this cabin, I was able to walk right up to the window and the room seems bigger due to the vacant area under the slanted window. I could see the water to the left and straight ahead but obviously the view from these cabins have varying degrees of obstruction from the helipad depending on exactly where the cabin is located.

Whilst Bob is right about quantifying motion with the variable conditions, I would say that I did feel slightly more movement being that far forward but honestly, I didn't notice that much of a difference.

  13. Don't wait if there is a specific cabin you want since certain cabins book up quickly. I know on the sailing I booked for Alaska last night, the only suite category that is left to book is junior suites. Looks like most of the aft facing cabins are gone too.

Absolutely agree with this. I think we must have booked the same sailing as I saw only JS's in suites left for the sailing I booked... I did wonder if it was a website glitch at first but I know how in demand these sailings are.

  14. On that Press Release, it says Alaska available to book 3/16 and then select Caribbean on 3/17. I'm a little confused because I just mock-booked two different Alaska trips today (on 3/15), so does that mean Caribbean will be out tomorrow if they're a day ahead?

Basically as always they say that C&A have 24 hour access ahead of release but it is open for everyone... and for US it was from last night for Alaska.

The Caribbean says 17th but C&A would be from tomorrow anyway... but everyone will be able to book! It's possible it might be bookable from tonight over the phone, as Alaska was yesterday.

  15. I just got off the phone with a guy who insisted that an inside for July 27, 2018 on Explorer in Alaska was $ 4277.70 and that a balcony was $4278.70 and when I pointed out that had to be incorrect he argued with me...sigh. I asked about the pacific coastal and was told the Explorer was not doing it in 2018.

Oh dear. The flyer for the sailings clearly show Explorer is doing Pacific Coastals.
