Wow thank you all for your responses, I will pass them on. I also told my sister in law to check out this terrific message board, so much great advice!

My brother and his wife are wanting to book their 1st cruise. Are they better off going to a travel agent, calling NCL for help or booking on line themselves? I thought I had read that if they went through a travel agent they might not receive the email to bid on an upgrade? Thanks in advance.

Didn't know that, thanks!

With traffic being bad in New Orleans we are going to leave early to get there, does anyone know if we can park at the port early like by 9:00? Thought we would go walk around and get some beingets.

I didn't want to book the specialty package then go on line and the reservations are all full? But I will go ahead and try. Thanks.

We leave Sunday still pending

Hi 1st cruise on NCL and we leave on Sunday. I'm looking at purchasing one of the dining packages. Am I too near cruising date to be able for us to get into Cagney's as well as the others restaurants?

You are on the Pearl next week and already received upgrade? Guess they work from the top down, makes sense. Hopefully I will hear something soon.

Thanks, fingers crossed

We leave on the Pearl next Sunday and haven't been notified yet if our bid for upgrade was accepted. We currently have ocean view and bid on balcony and mini suite.
Cruise in October - drive or fly
in New Orleans

Both times we have cruised out of NOLA we have driven, 1st time we stayed at hotel in Metrarie that offered a park and stay they shuttled us to the port and picked us up after. Very handy and reasonably priced. This past Feb our cruise was during Mardi Gras and the stay and park wasn't offered and hotel rooms were crazy high so we stayed about an hour outside NOLA so easy drive in on Sunday morning. Parking is very close. they let you drop off luggage then go park. I think parking was $24 a day. When we go next January we would probably do the stay and park again.
