  1. I'm sure if you had a S&S card from an adult NOT In your stateroom, that would be flagged and you would not be allowed to get a drink.  If it is your wife (same last name, same stateroom) I don't think a bartender would EVER turn you away.

  2. While not precisely what is described in the title.  After our 3rd cruise (I think), we had just debarked and discussed on the way to the airport that we should pause our cruising and try an all inclusive, land based vacation next.  Not a few weeks later we both said we missed it and were looking to book another as soon as finances and schedules would allow.

Here we are 6 cruises in and one on the books without taking that land based all inclusive.  Sure we've done spring break in Florida with the kids but I don't consider that the BIG vacation that we save for.

They will call you to see if you want to sail on a ship at short notice.

Interesting!  I have seen and talked the same guy on different sailings, almost a year apart who I would imagine is on this list.  From our discussions he uses a PVP and will just call them to see the cheapest sailing they have within the next 5-10 days.  Like that, he's off on a cruise!

I was bummed out too because my other half doesn't drink either. I fight hard to get her to drink a few. I thought this was a bad thing, but it's a lot easier on the wallet!

I found that this also allows me to throw extra $ at shore excursions or getting drinks on said excursions.  There is no hurry for me to get back on the ship while in port to try to break even, get my moneys worth, etc. so we can find neat places ashore to grab a drink, food, etc.  I've found really nice local spots to grab a few cheap beers or mixed drinks before heading back to give the cruise line more of my money.

  5. I can tell you that I am sailing with MSC in 25 days and I am nervous as all get out.  I really don't want to have a negative idea in my head prior to but with the headaches I've had already in having to call customer service 5 times in the last 2 months, it's proving difficult.  I guess we were spoiled with all of our previous cruises being extremely user and website friendly with not a single problem.  I am going to try my best to stay positive!

  6. Yes, their website has been a hit or miss lately, more miss than hit.  For about 10 days I couldn't even login to view any details of my booking.  They have yet to add my OBC for each room for being voyager silver status and each time I call it is quite a wait time.  I am still very excited though.  49 days til we fly to Miami!

  7. I would have taken it. But also consider the location of your 4a vs the ocean view. Are you under/above areas prone to excess noise? I know you passed but for future reference, keep those things in mind.

I almost always book interior but I am going to be extremely picky on location. Whenever I have received upsell opportunities, I have to think more about the location change than room category, typically.

  8. Cruised 5 times over the last 4 years. I've seen plenty of rude people, selfish people, people who don't think the rules apply to them but I've never seen obscene behavior that has turned me off to Carnival. I see the same type of behavior at the local mall, the grocery store, high school sporting events, the beach, etc. When you get 3,000+ people on a floating city, there are going to be clashes somewhere. It happens on all cruise lines, it's just in some peoples blood.

  9. Our ship was stuck out to sea until 1pm (supposed to arrive at 6am) on the other side of the Tampa Bay Bridge ...due to fog. (notorious in Tampa). Most people missed their flights. Deportation did not begin until after 2pm.

    Deportation?!?!?!?! Yikes!

  10. If you prepay, you save $5/day. If you pay on the ship, you don't save the $5/day. You can get CHEERS on day 2 but that is NOT retroactive to the previous day. From the time your board the ship to 6am the next morning, you will be paying menu prices/a la carte for each drink you have. Then CHEERS kicks in at 6am on the 2nd day.

  11. I don't know the formula, but I bet it is very basic. I bet they are only looking at your level with a certain line and days on board. My wife has 28 days and I have 35 days on Carnival, both gold on Carnival (which gets you next to nothing if you are familiar). We status matched at Silver which makes sense to me based on the amount of days at sea. Our kids are "red" on Carnival with 14 days each and they matched at classic. Again, makes sense to me.

This is a perk that MSC offers. They certainly do not have to status match and for that reason, I don't think they are putting much effort into it.

  12. Without reading all of the responses....You pay a fare for your infant but it is usually reduced, assuming they are sailing as a 3rd or 4th passenger. An infant is still taking up one of the ships berths, which are capacity controlled. Good thing on Carnival with an infant is you are not required to pay the daily service charge/gratuities.

  13. I have a friend that still owes me over $500 for a cruise we took in 2014. I know I'm never going to see the money so I don't even sweat it. Still a good friend of mine, but that was my choice.

Your situation is different. Seems like there is bad blood. That being said, I'd go after your friend and one way or another get my $ back.
