Unrelated to this, with my Verizon plan, I have cell service in Mexico for $5/day.  Hope this isn't too Luddite a question.  Do I physically have to be off the ship or is it just necessary to turn roaming off?

Probably not. You may not have service in some areas of the ship. If you have a balcony you should be good to go. An inside, go up on deck or to a quiet area of the Garden Cafe or somewhere your cell phone will work. The usual rule is up to 12 miles out to sea.

Dont forget if you visit an American port, San Juan, St Thomas, St Croix, you dont need an Intl plan on those days. It's just like being in another state.

On our recent cruise on the NCL Sun, we found out after we had made our reservations that one of the coupons could be used at Cagney's or Le Bistro only, and the other one could NOT be used at either Cagney's or Le Bistro.

We just got off the Gem a month ago. I dont remember which restaurant we were about to go to but when I got a voucher out of the safe where I keep them under lock and key, I noticed it listed 2 actual spots and not the one we were about to eat at. I decided to just give the manager the voucher and see what would happen. The manager accepted the voucher and there was no problem. We had another voucher printed the same and was able to use that one also at another restaurant. I think the ships are just using up the older vouchers.

  3. The last time we took a TA which ended in the Caribbean area instead of NYC we went from Barcelona to New Orleans in November. The crossing was like a mill pond and the weather was great. We had 6 sea days from the Canaries to Grand Turk, but we were used to TAs. We were on our balcony every day.

The price is right for your cruise. Even a balcony wont cost too much.

We were actually tempted to do these 2 cruises on the Joy. Miami to Southhampton on Jan 11 for 11 days and then back on Feb 13. We could have travelled around the UK for those 3 weeks in between.

    Hello.

New to NCL, just wondering if they allow the usual 2 bottles of wine per stateroom when initially boarding?  What is thier policy on that?

    Thanks

That's another cruise line, not NCL

No, it does not carry over to your next cruise or stay in your NCL account as OCB.  It disappears at the end of the first cruise. If B2B, then I don’t know.

Depends. We have had nonrefundable OBC roll over to the next cruise when doing B2B You can spend it on tips at the bars or specialty restaurants or for any type of services at the spa.

How far out did you hope to check in? 21 days is better than the 14 days on Carnival at least.

Is it still 14 days prior and 16 days for Diamonds and Platinums ? it used to be right after the final payment was paid. Those extra 2 days are important for the D/P They get all the early checking times.

  8. Usually the cabin steward will hand me his/her card. That way I have his/her full name for a Hero Card.  Other staff have a name tag. its up to the passenger whether or not they want to fill out a hero card or do the survey etc. Theres usually a box at one the end of Guest Services counter for the Hero Cards.

  9. Book for 4 and book Teppanyaki and Moderna first. The rest are al a carte. They'll know when you go to the restaurant with your coupon or just your key card Dont worry about the website when you book as far as which is which. the coupons for your Lat will be in your cabin when you arrive or shortly thereafter.  One with a bottle of wine and one without. FAS doesnt have the wine. As far as how many appetizers etc you receive, I think that depends on the ship.

We had an excursion booked for a port they cancelled. They also said 7-10 business days, but it showed up as a credit on my card much quicker than that. I think it was either 2 or 3 days.

A couple of days ago I went ahead and called NCL shorex and cancelled our Israel shorex and the credit showed up on my card later that day.

I’ve received no communication from NCL outside of ads for their credit card and room upgrades. If you went by my email inbox, everything is perfect in the world and everything is progressing according to plan. My itinerary still shows all of the Israel and Egypt ports. I’m flying out in a week for the Nov 1 sailing on the Gem out of Istanbul.

Yesterday we got Emails with the new itineraries for the Gem Nov 11th and 22nd. They added Crete, Limassol, Cyprus and another day in Alexandria instead of Port Said Our accounts in the NCL website have not been updated as yet.

In the EU, they're actually required to compensate you for all delays (including weather) over 2 hours.

Yes In May we were going by train from Bari, Italy to Venice. That morning we found all the trips north were cancelled because of the rain and flooded rails. Right there at the station we were immediately given back all our funds we paid for the trips. Money in Euros. (Luckily, we were able to fly to Venice that same day for just a bit more than the train cost.)

    Hi all,

I am taking a back to back on the Spirit from Hawaii to Tahiti; then back Tahiti to Hawaii.  I have two different cabins (balcony). What is NCL’s procedure for this?  Do I have to pack and the claim my baggage and then check-in with my bags as if I am taking my first cruise?  Help!

    bob

No your cabin steward will move your luggage straight from your old cabin to your new cabin when the new cabin is ready. Just make sure you tag everything with the NEW cabin number

Just received official notification from NCL on the itinerary change for the Gem Sailing  from Athens on the 11th. Both stops in Israel are out as well as Port Said in Egypt. Spending an extra day in Alexandria Egypt and adding in Limassol Cyprus and Heraklion Greece.

How were you notified ? We havent had anything as yet. So now we have 2 ports in Cyprus and a Greek Island.

Please confirm -your cruise leaves from Istanbul and returns to????

Athens on Nov 11th and then goes back to Istanbul arriving there on Nov 22nd. The cruises for Nov 1st, 11th, and 22nd are full of Israel, Egypt and Turkey. NCL is still working on alternative ports etc. We're on the Nov 11th and 22nd cruises.

Already talked to them.  I was told it's a "glitch" in their system and I need to call shore excursion desk to rebook everything and must request original pricing orvthey will book at new higher price.

Are those shorex still available ? I just checked ours for our Nov cruises on the Gem. All our shorex are still there for Israel, Egypt, Turkey Nothing missing.
