  1. We have a different situation which I haven't seen mentioned.  As of now, testing has to be done for cruises which begin through Sept 6 but if that is extended, it will affect us.  We sail on the Equinox on Sept. 17 after getting off the Summit on Sept 15.  This gives us one day in FLL to get tested for the next cruise.  I can ask whether they will test us on the Summit but I'm not sure whether they will.  Any other suggestions?

I don't know why Sept 6 on Summit doesn't show online to book. Plus I can't get a arrival time, maybe they will cancel it. 🤷

I wasn't able to find that one either.  Ours on the 11th is still showing as available but still no luck with check in times. Maybe this is only a problem with the newer short cruises on the Summit.  At this point I'm holding on to my flight prior to the Equinox cruise just in case the cruise is cancelled.

I called Celebrity and they said the Sept 6th boarding times haven't been released yet. So I guess I just keep trying each day.

This is what I've been doing.  Is yours on the Summit also?  I didn't see a Sept 6th cruise on Celebrity's website.

  4. I have had the same problem with a Sept 11 sailing on the Summit.  It's a casino comp cruise but I don't think that would make a difference.  We have one on the Equinox immediately following that one which I was able to schedule a boarding time weeks ago.

  5. For those of you on the Summit or have a cruise coming up on it, have you been able to select a boarding time yet?  If you have, how many weeks before your cruise were you able to do this?  I was able to do our online check in on the app a few weeks ago but I still do not have the option to select a time.  I only get a message to check back which I do every day.

  6. I didn't feel confident enough about our 9/25/20 cruise to the ABC islands so yesterday I changed it to next Sept.  We had a reservation for a golf cart rental in Bonaire so I let them know that we wouldn't be there.  She replied that they don't believe ships will cruise to Bonaire this September.  I'm still holding out some hope for the end of November but we'll see.

We were able to make this switch for Equinox 10 night 9.4.2020 to Equinox 9 night 9.17.2021 so you should be able to get this done.

This morning I changed from 9/22/20 to 9/17/21 on the Equinox.  Because it went from 10 nights to 9, the Celebrity rep had to get a supervisor's approval so it took a while but they sent a corrected confirmation within 15 minutes after I got off.

  8. Celebrity cancelled our 3/23 cruise on 3/13 and I requested a refund by phone on 3/20 due to the "70 and over" doctor's note required at that time.  The rep told me to  expect a refund within 7 days which I know now was not possible.  I followed up on this a month later and was told that it was in the process but it would take 30 days.  Today I called about something else and asked them to check on the refund while I was on the phone.  She told me the port fees and taxes were credited but the initial request was entered incorrectly so she had to get Resolutions on the line to correct it.  It will now take another 30 to 45 days to receive the refund.

Yes, I forgot to mention the "noise" coming from the movie screen.  We found it intrusive.  One day it was so loud I could not concentrate on the book I was reading.  This is very unusual for me.

We spent 3 weeks on the Summit in November with the first two weeks in 1138 and I agree about the noise.  At times it was difficult to sit out on the veranda and read and there were times when I could hear it inside the cabin with the door closed.  I think some of that may have been when football games were playing.  The third week we were in a C1 aft on deck 8 which I prefer but missed the service and food in Blu.  The location of 1138 is great if you aren't sensitive to the background noise.

  10. I am really enjoying your review of the cruise and the wines!   I feel terrible about asking you to try another bar 😁 but if you make it to the World Class Bar,  would mind asking Santos whether he'll be there at the end of March?  A few years ago we did the Mixology Class with him and had a great time so we would love to see him again.  Other bartenders told us that he is the best.  Enjoy the rest of the cruise!

    Hi,

further to my my previous post we are now back on the ship after a day in Bonaire having rented a golf cart this time, now having experienced both the golf cart & woodwind I have to say the golf carts win hands down... I mean wow, what a great day we had,

first of all both check in & collecting the cart the cart was very easy and quick, this really does seem a great company with very helpful people,

now I say the golf cart wins but I guess there are a couple of factors to consider... firstly you first need to be completely comfortable driving these carts around, it is very easy and a lot of fun,

secondly, regarding our day and what made it so good was we were able to snorkel at leisure where & when we wanted too, without having to follow someone or stick to a specific area, we stopped at 3 different spots to snorkel and highlighted another 2-3 at least to try next time, now of course you need your own equipment (I think you can rent from the cart company) and you also need to be confident to snorkel without a guild etc, if you are this experience for us wins hands down 👍🏼😎

Thank you for taking the time to post this info.  We've been on Woodwind a couple of times and can't say enough about them but after reading this, I reserved a golf cart for September.  We'll be there from 8 AM to 8 PM so there will be plenty of time to explore the island.  What were the best spots for snorkeling and did you need fins?

All in all, I consider 3112 to be the best of the lot of both port & starboard Cat 6 staterooms.  The port side staterooms, 3115-3117 are the most private, with 3119 the least as it is located at the entrance to those seven staterooms.  Staterooms 3121 and 3123 have storage closets across from them, and stateroom 3125 has a back entrance door into Tuscan Grill.  It's mostly a service area/storage of glasses, etc.  🍷

We have 3112 booked on the Connie for 2021 because it looks like there is a little extra room due to the position of the doorway although I haven't seen the cabin.  Is it much different than the other cabins in this area?

Many thanks for such a well written description of your journey. I feel as though i just experienced a well deserved "break" from the rat race...no wait, you got to enjoy it and I'm jealous...but I enjoyed following along.

Have never been on a cruise and will be on the Summit this February with the same ports of call. While you have definitely taken me through the entire week covering just about everything I would want to know about the ship I am unclear of one thing that I'm sure you could clear up for us.

We have the late dinner in the MDR (8:30), sail away is I believe about the same time and from what we understand there is a party of some sorts by the pool. Would you be able to give us an idea of when this party begins so we, @njsweetie and I, can either change dinner that evening or simply not be concerned about the overlap and do dinner as planned. If the party starts at 8 then I would probably just keep the 8:30 but what do I know...never been on a ship...LOL

I guess more importantly...forgetting the party, is "sail away" something you do not want to miss?

We were also on this sailing along with the two prior to it.  I never get tired of sailing out of San Juan in the evening so we always make sure that we have dinner before sail away so we can be on our veranda or at the Sunset Bar.  Set dining at 8:30 makes this impossible unless you eat at a specialty restaurant or the buffet that evening.  The pool party for sail away is not a big deal to us.  Either way I'm sure you'll have a wonderful cruise!

    CABIN #: 1138

    DECK #:  11

    CLASS:  Aqua 1

    AREA:  Aft

    BED NEAR:  Bathroom

    QUIET?:  No

BALCONY VIEW:  Looked over the Sunset Bar and the wake of the ship

    BALCONY SIZE:  Extra Deep

    WIND A PROBLEM?:  No

SOOT A PROBLEM?:  At times but not too bad

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:  I loved the cabin and location but there wasn't much privacy due to the canopy being removed over the Sunset Bar on the Summit.  We could also hear movies and football games being played on Deck 12.  At times the noise filtered into the cabin even with the veranda door closed.  After spending two weeks in it, I was ready to move down to an aft C1 cabin which was much quieter.  Because of the noise I wouldn't book this cabin again.

  15. I would choose the 2nd itinerary because there are not as many cruises going to Tortola, Grenada and Dominica.  In Tortola, you can easily go to Virgin Gorda or Jost Van Dyke.  In Dominica, Champagne Reef is a favorite of ours.  We have a b2b2b coming up with the first and second ones along with a repeat of the first only because it was such a great deal.  If you have the time, a b2b would help solve the problem of making a choice. 😉  No matter what you choose, you can't go wrong.

Breakfast..... Mallorca's at Cafe Mallorca, La Bombonera or Choco Bar.

Happy hour... drinks and food .... definitely at the roof top restaurant above the Milano Hotel.

The roof top restaurant looks like it would be worthwhile going for the views alone.  Do they actually have a happy hour with drink specials?  We've been to SJ quite a few times but haven't gone here yet but with three nights pre-cruise coming up, we're going to explore.

To the OP, I know that it's probably overrated but when we first walked into Barrachinas, we were surprised that they have an open air courtyard after you go through the front door.  It's also where the pina colada was to have originated.  Since I don't care for coconut, the bartender made me a mojito with Bacardi rather than Don Q which is what I would normally order in PR.  He thought it made a better mojito.  Who was I to argue?

  18. After reading this I called Celebrity.  Apparently the $50 casino play and the two bottles of wine are only given once during the cruise, not daily.   In addition to this you also get a wine tasting valued at $35 + gratuities and daily replenishment of the mini bar although I didn't ask for details of what is included in that.  This does not include drinks purchased at bars so it would not be a good deal for us.
