  1. There is no new Saturn schedule. It hasn't changed since I started the schedule for 2023 to 2025. Saturn's schedule still only runs thru September 2024. Don't know why this is the case when the others are scheduled into 2025. But it is. Or are you having problems downloading a copy of the file?
  2. Realized yesterday that I'd forgotten to make note of some new VO cruises scheduled for 2025: Grand Australia Circumnavigation (Venus) and West Indies & Panama Canal Passage (Sea). Have posted an updated copy of what I posted last week.
  3. Could be except....would they do a complete repair job in Santiago??? Know they did a quickie patch job right after the incident in Usuhaia. Hmmmm....šŸ¤”
  4. Returned safely from down under last Wednesday. Flight home felt like Groundhog Day -- leave Melbourne on Wednesday at 1pm, arrive SFO at 7:30am same day, and arrive home that evening at 9pm. How many hours was that??? Alot.... Body hasn't quite recovered from the time shift even tho I did just fine traveling from here to Auckland. Don't know why. Maybe cuz I kept telling myself I was only 6 hrs away from my time zone which happens to be .... yesterday. šŸ™ƒ Great trip too! Anyway -- have just finished updating the consolidated schedule spreadsheet and posted it in the usual spot. Schedules for both VO and VE have been updated. For VO: Saturn: fully scheduled thru Sept '24 Sea, Sky, Jupiter, Venus, Neptune: fully scheduled thru Aug '25 Star: fully scheduled thru Sept '25 with a 22 day gap starting 11Nov24 in Barcelona. Not sure what will be happening here. Maintenance? ?? Orion: fully scheduled thru Sept '25 Mars: fully scheduled thru Oct '25 For VE Polaris: schedule updated for both 2023 and 2024 thru Oct '24. In the case of 2023, have a gap between 1Apr (in Santiago) and 3May (in Toronto). Clearly need a new cruise to fill this gap. Octantis: no schedule changes; still fully scheduled thru Sept '24. 5. Reminds me of a teacher I had in 7th grade who gave a little talk on the difference between a pupil and a student. Was an artist too - drew a picture of a kid with a hole in their forehead to drive home the point that a pupil is simply a hole. And we shouldn't be one. šŸ˜
  6. On a completely different topic but one that is dear to my heart and I think others --- internet speeds onboard VO ships (can't speak reliably for VR or VE ships). Am thrilled to report that on the Orion (where I am now) we are getting......hold your hat and be still your beating heart....download speeds over 200 Mbps in the World Cafe and in the 60s in our cabin on the 7th deck. Decided to run a speed test today using the Ookla app. Apparently Viking is taking advantage of the SpaceX satellite system to connect to the nearest land based internet provider - in our case Sydney - that we won't reach until noon tomorrow. I am impressed! Also - we are no longer limited to 2 connected devices at a time. We have 4 devices connected right now. For you techno geeks (am proud to include myself) I think this is great news. Don't ask why I waited until now (14 days in) to run this speed test. šŸ™„
  7. Thanks for the heads up. Will take care of when we get back from Australia/New Zealand in early Feb. Landed in Auckland this morning.
  8. sorry - scanned and answered your request too quickly - just focussed on your request.
  9. When you get your electronic travel document packet about a week before departure, it's in there. However, since we're leaving for Auckland this Friday and I have our E-docs.... VIKING ORION +1 323 870 4810 oor_info@vikingcruises.com
  10. And why even tho it may cost more that reason among othera is why I do our flights thru Viking Air. If things go sideways, I don't get stuck dealing with the airlines whether it be for canceled flights or whatever. And why do you need a refund for your flights? Your flights to and from weren't canceled.
  11. Making me very nervous about our embarkation on the Orion in Auckland on 19 Jan 2023. Only thing to do I guess is hope for the best.
  12. Oops! Forgot about the NY to Bergen via Iceland cruises added recently. So not so odd at all.
  13. Dang! Thanks! Will be interesting to know what Sky will do in June 2025 starting from New York in the Summer. It's so atypical. Not the usual pattern at all. E.g., All seasons - Med; Summer - Alaska, Northern Europe; Fall - east coast US; Winter - Australia, New Zealand, S America. Guess I'm going to wait a bit. Need to start packing for Auckland next week and hold off publishing next version until after we get back.
  14. Thanks for the extra info. I wondered when Mr Hagen recorded his New Year's message - before or after the incident? Now I know!
  15. Happy New Year to all! Last month, I set up the 2023 to 2025 edition of the Consolidated Schedule and was waiting for the right time to post it. Decided today that even though very little has changed since my last posting of the 2022-2024 schedule last October, there have been three updates that I decided to use as good excuse for posting today: One for the Polaris in 2023 -- a new Grand Journey called The Americas & Antarctic Explorer Two for the Sky in 202 and 2025: Viking World Cruise (Dec '24) and Viking World Journeys (Jan '25). These two have a slightly different itinerary than previous world cruises, which I know some don't like. If you have a copy of the 2022-2024 edition use the link provided on the ReadMe tab to the folder in DropBox and look for Viking Ocean & Expeditions Cruises (2023 to 2025).xlsm and download it. If this is your first time downloading this file -- use this link instead -- https://www.dropbox.com/s/koar44ane0avi7u/Viking Ocean %26 Expedition Cruises (2023 to 2025).xlsm?dl=0. No DropBox account required to download the file. Also -- happy news! Checked on Polaris using VesselFinder -- and it appears she's been repaired after the unfortunate mishap last month. She left Usushia on December 30th and is currently at Damoy Point, Antarctica. Going by the fact that I can see she was heading back to Ushuaia on Dec 25th (as far back as the track I see in VesselFinder), she clearly must have been repaired really quickly.
  16. Must have done it last night. I checked the schedule yesterday afternoon and it wasn't there. Have the 2023-2025 editon of my consolidated schedule prepared. Guess I'll add that today and post; think that's the only addition since the last update to the 2022-2024 edition.
  17. I'll just offer a simple Happy New Year to all! From me, our two idiot cats (Joey & Monica) and, without his knowledge I'm doing so, my husband. I may have met some of you at some point and certainly hope, for those I haven't met yet in person, that I will. You are all a great bunch of people. šŸ‘šŸ¼
  18. Thanks! My head was spinning when I looked at the cruise map they were showing and has been replicated across the 5 or 6 articles that read like slightly modified transcriptions of the news broadcast. Gives one a real appreciation for how misinformation propagates like a wildfire. I ..to my shame ā€¦.got sucked into the maelstrom of it. At least I redeemed my idiocy by checking here. Looking forward btw to visiting your country later next month.
  19. Obviously I havenā€™t been following the live thread ā€˜cause I didnā€™t know where it was so thanks for the link. Yeah, the articles that I read were like all the same. The wording was almost the same. It was bizarre and I couldnā€™t figure out head or tails what was going on based upon the the broadcast from live 10 in Australia and the articles were hopeless. So thanks for the link I will go read it. Good that I posted here. Iā€™ll add that live link to our roll call for the Jan 19 sailing.
  20. More news btw about poor Orion -- https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1715151/viking-orion-passengers-fungus-outbreak-ship-stranded-australia-new-zealand, Don't know if this is the "sea snail" issues we read about last week or not. I have my fingers and toes crossed that all this will be resolved in time for us to board on Jan 19 in Auckland. Maybe some of you old sea hands can offere some insight on this. And btw --for the life of me I am thoroughly confused about the path they say Orion travelled on. Makes no sense at all -- the Australia & NZ cruise does not EVER sail directly from Sydney to Auckland -- it's always south from Sydney to Melbourne, and Tasmania and north up the eastern coasts of N & S Islands of NZ ending in Auckland. And then the reverse.
  21. I should actually credit my husband for this. when we did our first vo cruise viking homelands he asked me to include sunrise and sunset on my spreadsheet. later when planning for into the midnight sun and wanting to know just how many days would count as midnight sun I learned about twilight (and variants of) and added nautical.
  22. One of the things I'm in the habit of doing whenever planning for a cruise is to know the sunrise and sunset for each day of the cruise. In planning for our upcoming into the midnight sun I added recording the various kinds of twilight - which days will be really or effectively midnight sun. I find that this site is a great resource not only for the data I seek but also for the definitions of the various twilights - civil, nautical, and astronomical - https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/ And https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/different-types-twilight.html
  23. Of course. If anything appears for 2025, will do. Don't understand the "minimal income" cited in the last sentence at all. I joined the "Medicare brigade", I.e., paying quarterly Part B, in 2018 a few months before I started to phase myself into full retirement.
  24. FYI - check periodically for changes to the VE and VO schedules and so far - as far as I can tell - all has remained steady. Am keeping an eye on changes to the schedule for Polaris after the incident this month but it's hard to tell thus far which of her sailings have been canceled; they're all showing still as sold out (along with Octantis). Nothing has been scheduled for 2025 yet. Anyway - decided today to set up the 2023-2025 edition. Which I've done. Question to all of you - post it now or wait until early January just in case I start seeing something in 2025 this month and save myself from posting it twice between now and early January?
  25. Read back thru the posts. The window didn't shatter; apparently, the whole window was forced into the cabin and that's what struck the passenger. And with this -- I'm bowing out of this conversation -- will return to "readonly" mode.
