  1. I use a CC for my sign and sail account originally. However I always take cash. I use this cash to shop in port and for tips. I also take cash and apply it to my S&S account so that I have very little on my credit card. We save cash leading up to our cruise and I prefer not to actually put much on my cc if possible. I always make sure that I keep enough to get home with as well.

  2. So after 2 months of trying to get my refund I received an envelope from Carnival. They sent a gift card with the refund amount on it via fedex. I just wish that they made it a little easier to get in touch with a person that knows how to look at the account and this would have been taken care of quite a while ago.

Oh well..... On cruise countdown. :D

  3. Talked with a few different people last week and someone was finally able to track down the fact that it was refunded to the gift card and gave me the last four of the card. I of course didn't have the card with me at the time so I couldn't check to verify that the money was on the card.

So I dug out my stack of gift cards and found the one I used, and the balance on it was zero. So I had to call them and 30 minutes later they said they were going to try to resend the refund to the card and if that doesn't work they would send me a card for that amount.

To wait 5-7 days and contact them if the refund isn't showing or I haven't received a new card.

So I am still waiting. :o

  4. Some friends and I had planned to take a cruise in November. We had already paid for most of the cruise as well as one of the excursions when one of them had to cancel. I had paid for all four of our excursions part on a gift card and part on my credit card. I put in the information to cancel her excursion and I was told that the refund would be issued. Problem is 2 days after paying for the excursion my credit card information was stolen and now I have a different card number. I checked the gift card and it wasn't applied to that and it wasn't applied to my account. I cancelled the excursion on 06/02/2016 and I still don't have a credit. Carnival keeps saying they have given me the credit but it isn't there. I keep sending email after email and they aren't being answered. Does anyone have any advice? I tried to call but after 25 minutes and 6 different representatives I was told that I had to email and that was the only way to get in touch with them.

    Help?

  5. So we are taking a cruise out of Miami on the Carnival Splendor, and I am debating on which side we should be on . I love to watch sunrises and sunsets so that doesn't matter but we are going from Miami to Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan and then Grand Turk. Which side offers better views of the ports? Or are these ports really anything to look at? I am still doing all my research as mostly we will be diving in at least 2 of the ports.

    Thanks!

  6. I love starbucks, but I have yet to acquire the taste of regular coffee. My hubby drinks his black, and he hates starbucks. He says their coffee is horrible. That being said he has never complained about the coffee anywhere on the ship and he drinks a good bit of it. I always carry my little individual creamers. Last time I carried them in my carry on without any problems.

  7. My son and I did the swim with the Rays and Sharks while my daughter and husband did the xunatunich ruins. We all had a great time. The ruins involved a lot of walking and some very steep climbing if you want to go to the top which of course they did. The Rays and sharks were wonderful. We took our own snorkel gear (they have some for you to use though) and we were able to see, touch and hold nurse sharks, rays, conch, starfish etc. Lucio was our guide and he was able to tell us about so many different marine animals that we saw. We also had lunch during the trip and the food was wonderful. I had conch fritters and one order was enough for 2 people. I really hope to get a chance to go on this tour again. It was wonderful! My son was 6 and the youngest on the trip, there were all ages on the trip. There were some that didn't even get off the boat, they just stayed on watched the animals from the boat and drank rum punch.

  8. ewwwww....never leave your drink unattended anywhere, in a yeti or yak or whatever.

Maybe the Yeti stole it back. Maybe he was tired of getting hit in the jewels when he played baseball.

I really really wish there was a way to like comments on here.

  9. I am wondering if everyone that is not have excursions showing up are going to be stopping at Cozumel? They are adding excursions for Cozumel and maybe they at waiting to have that set up before they add excursions? The last four we went on had excursions listed way ahead of time.

From what I hear the FTTF's are put on sale depending on how many diamond and platinum members are going to be on the ship.

We have stops in Amber Cove, San Juan, Grand Turk and St. Thomas.

  10.

I really don't get the concept of having a casino right there as you get off the ship. Do people really get off the ship and go gamble? I means there's a casino on the ship for heavens sake.

We took a cruise with some friends a few years back. My hubby and I spent the days out on the beach, in the sun and in the water. They spent the days even off the ship going to the casinos. We came back from the cruise with tans in November, they came back with sinus issues from the smoke. I like the casino but I love the sun and water so much more.

  11. Just from someone that has had the horror of experiencing bed bugs after traveling last year let me give you some advice. Not everyone shows bites. My daughter and I both had them mostly on our arms and lower legs, she even had them on her face. My son and my husband never showed bites. After being completely grossed I out I did some research. My husband and son both get very warm when they sleep (we call them our heaters) therefore bed bugs avoid them.

The bites are quite often mistaken for mosquito or flea bites, go ahead and notify carnival so that they can carefully check the room. It is really better to be safe than sorry. If you picked them up in the hotel or anywhere else all it takes is one to spread it to the room on the cruise ship.

Strip your beds and wash everything in HOT water. Check with a LED flashlight and check everything. They are hard to find during the day and are best spotted in the very very early hours when it is dark. Look for their poop marks and make sure you have light colored sheets on your bed so that you can see if there are any after they bite you. This will help you find out if they have spread to your home.

Good luck! I have been in your shoes after traveling last summer and it is not something I ever want to go through again. My bug man told me that once you have the horror of dealing with them once you are so vigilant about checking things you usually never have them again. We check all our beds before we set anything down. We have been known to put our stuff in the bathtub until we could check everything if there was carpet throughout the room. When we come home, EVERYTHING is washed in hot water and we unpack our suitcases on the floor on a white sheet so we can see anything that may have stowed away. All suitcases are stored up in the attic in plastic bags so they don't have a chance to spread.

  12. I watched the video, mainly because I am a former firefighter/EMT and I am screwed up like that. From the position she was in, I don't think there was a thing they could have done to help her.

A few years ago on a cruise one of our friends rented a moped in Nassau. He didn't tell any of us about it until after the fact. He knew we all thought he was stupid. Thankfully he made it back in one piece and without missing any skin.

    Prayer for their family.
