  1. We were on the same Edge cruise. We tried to book the steakhouse and Eden online about a week before the cruise. All they had for the steakhouse was 8:30 and Eden was sold out. We are sailing the Apex in December so we will make reservations as soon as we can.

  2. We were on the same cruise. Thanks so much for the gorgeous photos and commentary! I am lax on both accounts. I think you had mentioned in one of your posts that you thought there were more people sick than were reported. Yesterday the count was 32 crew and 11 passengers. I am 65, triple vaxed and never had co-vid before. Late yesterday I started having some nasal drip (not uncommon for me) but also some chills. Sure enough, a home test was positive. I will say that I heard coughing throughout the cruise, the bad kind, not because they swallowed wrong. Ughh. Anyways, it was a great cruise.

If anyone else has stayed in a Princess suite, I'd love a comparison to Celebrity's suite experience.  I know Celebrity will come out ahead on most items, but also consider pricing, please.

We had suite D122 on the Regal in 2019, the same layout as luckyinpa's suite. I wouldn't book this suite again because the front window looked directly out onto the crew sundeck. We also heard a loud banging noise during the night. The Captain told us that it was waves hitting inside the anchor box. We were booked on the Edge this past April 5th in a Sky suite so we haven't had that experience. We paid $3666 with paid gratuities, $50 TA OBC and $199 military.

Thanks for sharing. We are scheduled for our first trip on Edge 4/5. Trying to decide if we are going or not.

We are also in a Sky Suite.

We are on the same cruise also in a Sky Suite. First time for both. Have you joined the roll call?

  5. I traveled the Alaskan Highway in the seventies with my parents to Alaska when I was around 14. I loved it and finally made it back via cruise with my husband last year on the Celebrity Solstice. I would love to take our 15 y/o grandson this summer. He loved the Grand Canyon last year and he is a very easy going traveler. I am debating between Celebrity Solstice again and the Emerald Princess. Any thoughts on which is the better ship for Alaska? We prefer sailing out of Seattle. I agree that getting him engaged in the process would help. He has watched the Brent Nixon DVD's on the wildlife and loved them.

Wow, you guys have been great with the responses!   I feel so much more well informed now.  I had to laugh at those saying once you go suite its hard to go back.  We booked a sky suite on Celebrity 3 years ago, and haven't been able to do anything else since...LOL .  BUT, we can only cruise once a year right now.....hubby is not retired yet....so once we can go a couple times a year we will HAVE to choose between once a year in a suite, or twice a year in a reg balcony.

I really appreciated the feedback on comparing Celebrity and Princess. We have been a little worried the service wouldn't be up to par with Celebrity.  But, the more I research the better I feel.  If the Princess ship is half as friendly as the Princess people on CC, we are good to go:)  We are both excited to be trying a new line, with new itineraries.  We are like little kids waiting for a new adventure😁

    Happy sailing to everyone!

I know the feeling! We just booked a suite on the Regal for March. We haven't sailed Princess since 1993! We usually sail RCCL but we are getting tired of the big ship  crowds and are excited about trying a completely new experience. We sailed the Celebrity Equinox last summer and loved it. BTW, we are also from Tampa.

  7. We had MTD reservations every night at 5:30 or 5:45 and service started out well but once the huge tables came in it went downhill. I can only imagine how busy it got as the night wore on. We were seated in one of the those central balconies in the MDR and ironically, last January on the Allure, we were in the same type of balcony. The waiters seemed very rushed then too. Our waiter told us he had too many tables. RCI needs to hire more wait staff if that is a recurring problem. We sailed Princess eons ago but are ready to explore other options.

  8. We were on this sailing with our 13 year old grandson. We had MTD and the service was slow sometimes, especially on the second formal night (lobster night) where we left before our desserts arrived because our wait staff disappeared for close to half an half. Our waiter told us the next day that the galley was backed up and ran out of plates. This was also the worst meal of the week, the prime rib looked like Salisbury steak.

The Fine Line was cancelled because of issues with the aerialist's harness and I can completely understand that safety comes first. I agree that the rescheduled show's audio was bad and distracting but the performance was still awesome.

We sailed the Harmony last September and everything was much better but it was not in the Summer where it was a full ship with over 1500 kids. This trip was for our grandson and he had a great time in the teen's club and met many new friends. There was a dedicated time for the flow rider, rock climbing, ice skating, and slides for their age group. He enjoyed a lot of the teen's planned activities, Grease, Fine Line and 1887. We checked the Daily Compasses from a previous post so we were aware that the sports venues were only open during certain times.

Bottom line, we went with the flow and our grandson had the time of his life and hasn't stopped talking about it.

  9. We are on the Harmony June 23rd and got a Suite guarantee for three, that includes grats for two and $125 OBC, for $4777. We originally wanted to sail the end of July but the cost was outrageous, almost $8k. I was hoping for an upgrade but am happy with my hump Jr. Suite and the savings over picking my own cabin.

We paid $3004 for two on our September

    30, 2017 Harmony sailing.

  10. Ours is back at $500 and our reservation now shows a premium drink package and internet access each:confused: I called celebrity yesterday and they said they couldn’t tell us any perks linked as we didn’t book directly. I’m not surprised but figured I would try.

I see our drink and internet too under order history. Hubby called and confirmed with Captain Club that we had all four perks. It all depends on who you talk to. I am pretty sure that the paid grats are part of that $500.

  11. You made me look and ours is still there. I'll keep checking and I will take my documentation just in case. Our docs from Celebrity say no pre-paid grats and our TA docs say that some perks may come in the form of OBC. Crazy that is was the same amount as yours. We booked thru the "con" agency.

  12. The same thing has happened to us on our June 9th Equinox sailing. We went "best" and have all four perks. Right after we booked the $300 OBC appeared and then a couple of weeks later there is an additional $200. I thought maybe it was the pre-paid grats (around $200) but my TA says no.

  13. And the elevator lobby on 8 can be SLIPPERY if it is raining. I slid about 6 feet in flipflops, glad I wasn't wearing heels. :D I'll stay with 9636, the balcony looks like it has a bit of an angle. I do want to see the view from my sons B1 on 12 though, even with the slide it looks fun.

We have stayed in 9236 which is the same cabin on the port side. A tiny corner is cut off the balcony which really didn't make a difference in it's size. It still had two loungers, two chairs and a small table.
