They are changing during the sailing. Looks like it will be open on Thursday.

We were told that as well on the previous cruise to yours....I hope the new theme will be more appealing than the current one.  I had seen no reason to sit there, pay a service charge to order food that I could basically get elsewhere on the ship.  However, sidenote….I will miss the drink "Havana and Banannas" that was at the bar in there . Quite yummy....

Related to this... we actually get of the Getaway on the 12th. We have a flight booked at 12 (not as tight as the original poster, but still tight on time) and were wondering if there is any advantage to booking a transfer through NCL? How easy is it to get a taxi after disembarking? We're planning on self-disembarking as we never travel with more than we can carry.

Im wondering that as well.  Id like to do self assist with the luggage but take it directly to the ncl transfer bus outside, thus (hopefully) bypassing the luggage hall luggage hunt. I hope that's possible....anyone know if I can do this? self assist directly to NCL transfer bus...….

Just spent 3 days in New Orleans last month when sailing on the Getaway and could not disagree more with your assessment.

We LOVED New Orleans....the food, the charm, the history....it was fabulous.

Im also looking forward to not only visiting Bourbon street but many other sites a bit off the beaten path like the World War 2 museum, Mardi Gras World, Audubon Aquarium and Zoo just to name a few......lots of great places to explore.

  4. Hi. Has anyone on here ever used the Hopper airfare app to help you get a good deal on your air for traveling? I've been following a few flights and have frozen one but am a lil leary since it would be a third party to book with instead of booking direct.  Anyone can offer advice or your thoughts?

Here are some pics of Mr Sancho's.

You can rent a cabana for an extra charge.

They have swings to kick back on at one of the bars. The other side is 1 of 3 pools.

You all look like you had a fantastic trip. Great review. I always love to hear other peoples opinions about where they went and how it was to navigate once there.  We are booked for Mr. Sanchos in Feb 2020 and we booked the one with the cabana pictured and the 1/2hr massage......cant wait!

We did the exact same thing last year except we stayed in Hammond (recommend staying there) and parked at the port.  We arrived  at the port at about 9 with no problems.  Parked the car and let the porters have our checked luggage.  Left our carry ons in the car and went to the French Quarter for the day. (Walking distance or a short cab ride).  Crowds were not bad at all and had a great time.  Saw a parade on Canal Street, ate fantastic food.  Went back to the port  very last minute and were literally the only ones in the terminal.  Easiest, and best, embarkation I have ever had.

Be advised that sometimes the parades can cause temporary traffic problems so do not wait until the last minute to head to port.  Great time to be in New Orleans though.  We had no problems at all.  Look forward to doing it again.

Hi. Is the Hammond the name of the hotel or is it......Holiday Inn, Hammond? Just trying to get info so that I can begin figuring out where we will be staying.  Thanks for your help....

  7. Sounds really nice.  How far from the port is the resort? Also if you dont mind me asking....how much were there day passes?  Im trying to start figuring out where my boyfriend and I will like to spend our time while visiting.

Well, after what felt like a long day with the excitement of traveling, we tried to see the welcome aboard show but we were late arriving and it was packed in the entrances with standers and we did not want to fight through.

We made a quick donation to the casino college fund sadly and walked the deck to admire the bright moon.

Tomorrow is a sea day so plans are up in the air.  Since Mking provided the dailies last week let me know if you want to see them again and I will post them.

Clocks ahead one hour tonight and be sure to put your breakfast order out before turning in..,

Good Night Critics, see everyone bright and early tomorrow...

I would love to know this.  Just booked a ms on the gem quite far out and haven't been in anything lower than a suite in several years, so being a cruise snob am a little worried lol... also reading that deck 11 is bad, now I am worried, as she put us in 11060.... thoughts anyone?

Hi Browniegirl......it looks like you have the pool deck bathrooms above you.,,,,,,I doubt that will give you any noise trouble.....Im on deck 11 as well but a few doors down on a different cruise date,,,,,,(beneath the Garden Cafe).....Im sure we both will be good noise wise.....Have a wonderful Cruise!
