i understand that it’s around $20 and half an hour by ferry one way to Anguilla from either side of St Maarten/St Martin - are there any other things to take into consideration on a one-day stop in Phillipsburg? I think a day trip across would make a nice change to the usual run.
-
Great review, Jeff, which goes without saying as it's the default state for your reviews. One question - on the day 2 Funtimes, at 1345 on Lido, there was something called the Aussie Birthday Bash. Any idea what that was all about?
Cheers,
Mal

Did I hear correctly? On Horizon they will be keeping the Lido deck Rum Bar but are replacing the pub on deck 5 with something "new and exciting"? This is not a good thing to do with the best pub at sea, the live music and pub trivia nights in there on all the ships are a blast.

Thanks for reading! :)
Glad to have you aboard again! That was a pretty good deal! :D
I nearly fell over when our beach guy said refills were a buck apiece...
-
Another great review, Jeff, thoroughly enjoying travelling vicariously through you guys. We were last in St Maarten on the Conquest last November and spent a good chunk of the day on the beach in front of Kokonuts - $20 for two loungers, an umbrella, and a bucket of four beers - so your photos brought big smiles this morning. Cheers mate!

Did the transatlantic last October and had a blast. Love the deck five layout, the Red Frog/Ocean Plaza section is great, especially with the al fresco lanai areas. Great ship.
-
You know, Horizon from NYC to Miami followed by that Breeze southern Caribbean out of Canaveral would be one sweet b2b... Be nice if those dates lined up!
-
13 days transatlantic on the Vista followed by 28 days on the Conquest in the Caribbean from October - under nine months to go, you little beauty!
-
We're on the Legend for ten nights over New Years Eve and our first port visit is in the Bay of Islands, which is a tender port. Does anyone know specifically which wharf we tender into, noting that there are three possibles and they are apparently an hour apart by road?
-
What date is float out scheduled? She looks fantastic in drydock, she will look beautiful in the water.
-
Bear in mind that CC participants represent a very, very small percentage of the total number of passengers on any given cruise. There are a bundle of other cruising websites out there that have equally active roll call forums.
-
All is well, because of Tracy's work schedule we have nothing planned until the fall of 2016. Haven't picked out which cruise we'll be going on yet.
Something on the Vista out of NYC maybe? Be nice to say g'day to someone else from the Commonwealth...
Cheers!

Is it just me or do both the 11 day cruises out of NYC have very limited numbers of OV and cove balcony cabins available? I'm hoping that this is just the company limiting the number available, rather than evidence that both cruises are selling strongly early.
-
I'm hoping the transatlantic ends in Miami at least, because that fills in a major part of the gap on our east to west round the world line. So far I have an unbroken line of ports from Miami travelling west to Dubai...

The tubes are great, they hold about six pints and are great value. On the Legend they were a nightly prize in the pub trivia comp - we won about seven of them and they make a good group drink.
But, they're only in the Red Frog pub, so you'll have to wait for a 2.0 ship. I know that they were available at the Frog on the Conquest in 2013. Good excuse to book another!

I know I'm anxiously awaiting the itineraries, along with several cruising friends. I know I will do the TA, and quite possibly 1 or 2 prior, depending if it does different cities.
I have a feeling there will be a lot of familiar faces and screen names that I haven't met on these cruises.
Debbie
Well, Lex and I will be seeing you there, Deb - at least for the TA, and quite possibly the last Med run as well. Keen to see if they are structuring the TA to include a Caribbean stop or two on the tail end.

August 30, join the Spirit in Singapore for 15 nights.
Bring it on!
-
256 calendar, 170 workdays until we board the Spirit in Singapore. Yes I'm counting, dammit!!!
-
Does Carnival Australia offer either the Cheers Program or the Faster to the Fun on Spirit or Legend?
-
Either is just fine by us :D
Just read on FB that Jan 22 is the good oil date for Vista news, so I guess we have a month and a half to speculate as much as we want!
-
So, a 7/7/14 cycle, finishing in Civitivecchia on October 18. Presumably, depart Rome on the 18th for the Transatlantic. I guess that since Carnival TA repos usually run to 14 or 15 nights, we need to start socking aside about five weeks leave in Oct/Nov 2016 to do the last Med run b2b with the TA. To the planning chart!
-
Thanks a bundle for the scans! Yeah, those prices are heavily jacked up - on the Legend repo last month a pint of Frog was US$7.75 or so, Bud, Millers, Coors and so on were $5.50 a bottle, Captain and coke was about $7.50. Bless the Australia tax - and no Cheers program to compensate!
-
Was just curious whether there's much difference between bar prices on US-based ships versus Australia-based ships. Prices on the Legend last month weren't bad, so here's hoping they're similar on the Spirit down here.
