  1. What do you want to know? I sailed on Sunshine 3x last year, but haven't been on her in about 7 months.
  2. Many of my offers will show in the booking system, but when I actually try to book the cruise there are no rooms available at that rate. You have to be quick with them.
  3. I think you're probably right in that. Slot machines give you a readout of your points, for table games you have to ask a host. Supposedly the Hub app now gives you your points in the app when onboard, but I haven't cruised since they started doing this so I don't know what that looks like.
  4. I remember reading on here when it happened that Carnival could have a new funnel slapped on her, practically in a matter of hours, and it could surely be done at Freeport. In any event it won't matter in a few months when the funnel is repaired. In the meantime though it certainly looks less than ideal, but yeah what was their alternative? Conquest class is their workhorse class, they literally can't afford to have any of them go down for any longer than is absolutely necessary.
  5. You need a little bit of a bankroll to get started, because you will lose a few times in a roll in between wins often. If you're only playing with enough money for a dozen spins or so, you're not giving yourself enough time to win. But I understand too that you're gambling with what you are comfortable losing, and that threshold is different for everyone.
  6. For slots I think you have to at least qualify for DOU on your cruise, so what is that 1500 points, to start to get offers. The threshold for table games is probably more. Obviously this is not public information on Carnival like it is with other lines.
  7. Yeah I may buy one like that, or just a box of regular plastic straws, for my next cruise. I cannot stand the candy ones and I'm scared of the metal ones I have. Actually the straws I really miss are the little coffee stirrer ones they'd put in my Old Fashioneds.
  8. Even on nights we go to assigned dinner, they don't start service promptly at 6:00 or whatever time it is now. They always wait at least 5 minutes or so for everyone to get in before they start service. I don't think it's a big deal.
  9. All the metal straws I've used are very sharp as well - I have nightmares of tripping while drinking and having a core sample taken out of my cheek.
  10. Often when people are faced with that reality, the truth comes out that the wife does drink. It's just that they thought they could each drink 7 drinks or so a day, or whatever combination to arrive at 15 total, and save half on Cheers. It's a fine plan, frankly my wife and I would love that option - but it's not an option. Oh well.
  11. How have we regressed as a society? 40 years ago before plastic straws, straws were made out of waxed paper. I remember McDonald's cups used to be made of wax paper too. Straws went to plastic and eventually so did McDonald's cups. Why can we not use wax paper anymore? And who decided making straws out of candy was a good idea?
  12. They did a repair to the ship so that it is not burnt looking anymore. If you don't want a jacked up looking ship you should probably stay away from Carnival altogether. Faded carpet, rust all over (even the bathroom door in my last cabin was rusty), dirty windows, etc., are sort of Carnival's calling cards unless you sail on a much newer ship.
  13. Whatever exception they allow, suddenly there will be a ton of pregnant women or Mormons or whatever traveling with their companions who see value in Cheers, and somehow their companion will hit their limit of 15 drinks every day. Carnival's reason for not allowing exceptions is 1) they know their guests will lie and share, and 2) the Cheers package includes other drinks so a nondrinker can still get value from the package. There are a lot of people out there who think, we can each have a good cruise if we split Cheers and each drink 7 drinks a day or so. Sorry, doesn't work that way. It's just a question of math for the cruisers at this point. Does it make more sense to pay per drink, or buy Cheers even if the wife doesn't drink.
  14. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1132/~/bringing-cremated-ashes-on-board-%2F-burial-at-sea I would not place the ashes in checked luggage but that is up to you…
  15. it won't be fixed until drydock in October of this year. book a different ship if you want I guess.
  16. Anything is possible but exceedingly unlikely.
  17. I don't know if things have gotten better but Carnival has been having some fairly serious behavioral issues on their cruises out of NOLA.
  18. One cruise - same thing, wife and I booked later than usual and it was a special itinerary so lots of olds on the cruise who want the sidewalks rolled up by 8PM, late dining was all that was left. We went maybe twice, just on the lobster nights (back then in the times of plenty - butter, lobster, bacon, meat with a bone in it in general - was in abundance. Are the good times really over for good?). If I go to hell, it won't be because I left my table empty on most nights of that cruise. So yes, it's OK to not go to your set dining time.
  19. yes as others on this post have stated you can drop off a bag. But your room won’t be for sure ready until 1:30, no matter if you’re diamond, suite guest, or fttf.
  20. Yes it does...but you can only have one complimentary hold at a time...
  21. Early stateroom access is gone, Carnival has gotten rid of too many stewards to allow it to come back.
  22. A secret is to avoid climbing the rails because you might fall off. A tip is to ask intelligent questions so that you get intelligent responses.
  23. They usually have a booth set up on Promenade with a host(ess) as well, that's a good place to ask as well.
