  1. Yeah it always seems to be my Uncle Ernie's friend's step-niece who just got off the Carnival Freedom of the Seas in 1999 got an exception. Or as was posted earlier in this thread, we got an exception because we booked two rooms! LOL that's not an exception.
  2. May be sold out before the voyage but if you stop by the steakhouse on embarkation day they might still have tables available, just not on the website.
  3. They don’t. you would think people would read the terms of a product that costs $60+ per day but I’m constantly surprised. https://www.carnival.com/drink-packages/cheers-package/cheers-SUM
  4. Gratuity is included. Any tip above and beyond is up to you and not expected. worth the money is subjective. It’s not to me but might be to you.
  5. but the cruises are cheap so you're expected to just grin and bear it according to this forum. quality doesn't matter as long as it's cheap. "a bad day at sea is better than a good day at the office"
  6. Just like any other gift card, it's a declining balance that you can use any number of times. There will be $100 left on it. Use it to pay down your S&S balance onboard. Or prepay for wifi/excursions/etc on carnival.com before you sail.
  7. So putting 10 IPA's in a case of Sprite isn't considered smuggling?
  8. 1. They open the 12-packs and investigate each can. Carnival has a fairly good beer selection, although certainly won't satisfy everyone. 2. You are limited to 15 drinks a day no matter how you buy them. The only way around it would be to buy pitchers of beer/margaritas, or bottles of wine/liquor. You cannot use Cheers when ordering room service.
  9. My usual M.O. is to identify a bar waiter on the first day of the cruise and make friends. We take care of each other for the duration of the voyage. I tip generously and they keep my drink filled when they see me at my table/machine.
  10. If I'm flying to a cruise, I'm flying to Miami. Why not give myself the best choice of itineraries and the most competition (and therefore lowest prices) the industry has to offer?
  11. Absolutely can. A lot of people don't know that. Some ships have more room at the steakhouse bar than others.
  12. S&S card is the card to use onboard. I didn't know the Ocean Players club gave out cards. No, not all bars have all bourbons. The steakhouse bar, and Guy's Smokehouse bar, tend to have the most extensive bourbon selection. The casino bar pretty much tops out at Woodford Reserve.
  13. And to add to this, note that requests like "can me and my daughter and son-in-law who is cruising in room 1234 sit together for supper" can easily be handled yourself in your cruise manager by adding cruise companions. There is no need to email the maitre'd or even to visit the dining room on embarkation day.
  14. I ate a raw oyster exactly one time and I poured it from the shell onto a saltine, hit it with some lemon juice, and ate it. Once was enough for me!
  15. I would be surprised if those email addresses are still monitored.
  16. It says 9AM but nobody will actually be there until closer to Noon in my experience.
  17. Guests can no longer contact Maitre'ds directly. Email addresses are not public information. My guess is they got tired of people asking for free ships on a stick or whatever they flood Heald's facebook page with and so told the company to stop allowing it.
  18. Everyone who knows what Carnival is capable of is disappointed by their current product at some level I think.
  19. Multi-serve drinks like bottles of wine, pitchers of beer, etc., do not count against your 15 drinks limit (and similarly are not covered under Cheers). You can buy as many bottles as you want.
  20. It wasn't how tea was done last year on Sunshine. It was fairly nice. They offered the Art of Tea teabags but also offered Lipton for free. The sweets and other snacks were readily available as well. Disappointing that your experience was so much worse. I would encourage you to attend tea on your next cruise.
  21. My wife and I will usually get off for 30 minutes to 2 hours, eat lunch on the island (I actually like those burgers better than Guy's lately...), then get back on the ship. We rarely stay ashore more than 2 hours no matter the stop honestly. Everyone cruises differently!
  22. no https://www.carnival.com/onboard/library
  23. They should have Lipton tea bags, same as what is on Lido, included. Is tea time on Paradise not in the piano bar? The last time I was on a Fantasy class ship, which granted was long before COVID, tea was served in the piano bar and not the dining room.
