  1. Correct. They will place holds throughout the cruise, but will not actually charge your card until after you scan your S&S card to debark the ship on debarkation morning. All the holds will clear within a week or so after the cruise.
  2. Just fund your S&S account with a credit card, and then at some point before you check out - feed your gift cards into a kiosk or give them to guest services.
  3. Try again with that link. It doesn't point to anything. Carnival has an exhaustive list of prohibited items. If something you want to bring isn't listed, then it is allowed. https://www.carnival.com/help

  5. All they can say is no, so no harm in asking - but to be honest in my experience that is exactly the response you'll get.

  7. I've seen carpet replacement and of course painting and lacquer work during cruises, and I recall some years ago on Ecstasy they replaced the tabletops in the MDR on turnaround day so they could get rid of the table cloths.
  8. It doesn't matter how you plan to bring it on, it's not allowed and will be confiscated. https://www.carnival.com/help?topicid=1202 "Electrical and household appliances containing any kind of heating element, such as irons, clothes steamers, immersion heaters, heating blankets, water heaters, coffee machines, hot plates, toasters, heating pads, humidifier, etc. (All Carnival ships offer valet laundry service for a nominal fee, and most ships (excluding Carnival Firenze, Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Venezia) also provide facilities with ironing boards and irons.)"
  9. You can go to the carnival forum here and there is a drop-down to see posts about a particular ship - choose Miracle, and you'll find lots of information.
  10. For sure, but they can and do accomplish these things when cruising because it is cheaper to do them when they're not paying for expensive drydock time.
  11. Often the ships back in so the port side is a misnomer. It doesn't really matter.
  12. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1134/~/laundry-service There are ironing rooms on the Jubilee that you can use for free.
  13. That's not something they have to wait for drydock to do.
  14. Carnival has mostly been removing casino bars for more slot machines, ripping out lounges for more staterooms, rebranding the sports bars to the Hero bar, and repainting the hull. They've also been adding more ADA accessibility features, like lifts at the main pool. The days of Carnival dramatically overhauling ships during drydocks seems to be over for now. Although I think many of their ships could use it. Any details about the drydock will be listed here. But more than likely this page won't be updated until well after the drydock when any changes have already been discussed here and elsewhere on the internet, like JH's page. https://help.goccl.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1540/~/carnival-spirit-(sp)-fact-sheet

  16. We won't know until it's truly put to the test of course. Prayerfully, it never will be.
  17. Always a good idea to choose a stateroom on a floor that is surrounded by staterooms on all sides.
  18. You can call room service to order whatever you'd like, there is a menu in the stateroom (or a QR code you can scan) with prices. The fridges in the rooms have been empty for years now.

  20. John Heald will usually post the movies they will offer on his Facebook page sometime before the month begins.
  21. Gives me an idea for the next cruise. I carry on 2 12-packs together "for me and my wife" and my wife does the same. I don't really drink much soda, 1 a day at most, so it doesn't really make sense for me to do that, but I guarantee it would work.
  22. They usually don't open the parking lot until around 9:30. Once all the folks from the last cruise are out.
  23. Most likely delivered in bulk by a food service like US Foods or Sysco.
  24. Make your TA work for their commission and ask them - they can probably book the cruise using that offer on the same phone call. Some TAs don't do transfers at all. With my TA, all they need is my booking information and the booking PIN for the reservation.
