  1. My last cruise was 9/10/16-9/17/2016. I was prepared to have to choose between morning service or night time turn down. It has been discussed on many threads here. When our room steward came in to introduce himself, he had a clipboard. I said, oh, now you will be asking which service we want for the room? He looked very puzzled, and said, no, the room would be serviced twice a day. And it was. It has been that way on every cruise we have been on. I have, noticed, that our steward, (on every ship) has always had an assistant, but, we deal with him or her (the main one, not the assistant). We do give them $20. on the 1st day, and I feel it is well worth it. And by the way, we had not given him the $20. yet, when the ? of 1 or 2 times servicing the room came up. We have had some go, so above and beyond, that we have tipped $50. in total, through the week. Not so much, nowadays as service has gone down so the $20. seems enough. I took a notebook on this cruise to jot down some of the things people ask about here. Room climate, etc... Funny, though, as there are 100's of people complaining about tablecloths versus none, I just don't seem to care enough, to even remember, and so, forgot to jot it down.:):o

What Ship were you on for this last cruise? Was it the Dream?

  2. You have to be booked on an early saver rate and you can check up til 24 hours before your cruise. If after final payment they give it to you in onboard credit. It goes off base rate before taxes and port fees.

How can I tell if I booked under early saver? I don't recall what I booked it under.

  3. We've been to Tropicante and we love it! It has been our favorite day we've had at any port before. We enjoyed the delicious food, beautiful beach, massage, and a nice stroll along the Malecon. There is a dog there but we saw him only a few times. He is a very laid back, chill dog. The service we received at tropicante was excellent! I've never been to Krazy Lobster so I can't comment on that but I can share my experience at Tropicante. It's well worth the hype. Also, Tropicante is rated #1 on TripAdvisor for Restaurants in Costa Maya. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great trip!

  4. We just visited an orphanage on April 12th in Coxen Hole. It is Majken Broby children's home. This orphanage is small and doesn't get as much help as the other larger one does, so we decided this is the place we wanted to help. I contacted the director prior to our sailing and he was very kind. I spoke with him over the phone as well as through email. He sent me a list of the children's ages, names, clothing and shoe sizes. We were able to bring clothes and shoes for the children. I was told that they also need toiletries. I know this home could really use any help you could offer. The director's name was Rupert Solomon and his email is solomonrupert@yahoo.com

  5. We just cruised on the Triumph April 8th. We had a wonderful time! The food was delicious! It was our first time trying the American Table menu and we were really pleased. We sailed on her before and after the stranded incident and it's been just as great as ever. The ship was clean and the staff was very kind and attentive. The Triumph really is one of our favorite ships!!

  6. We were just there the second week in april..Bucket of beer is 15.00 for 6....they are 12 oz bottles. Don't know about Blue Kay, but Tropicante is right downtown and is only a 2.00 cab ride and 10 minutes at most......Massages are 30.00 for one hour......go enjoy...
We were also there the second week of April. We were there April 11th. We had a great time! The beach was beautiful, clean, and clear! We enjoyed delicious food as well as very relaxing massages. The staff are great! They're kind, welcoming, and attentive. Perfect customer service.
  7. 2 hours ago, I went on Coral Breeze website and reserved our excursion to Shark Ray Alley/Caye Caulker for next week. I paid my deposit and immediately I was sent a confirmation email. An hour ago, I received another email from Mark at Coral Breeze telling me that they're deleting my reservation and refunding me the deposit, because there are 2 other ships that they'll be servicing that day and Triumph isn't one of them. It's disappointing, and now I need to find another tour company that will pick us up from the pier and take us to the same locations. Does anyone have any recommendations of who we can use? Thanks in advance for any help.....

  8. 2 hours ago I went on coral Breeze website, reserved our spot for snorkeling and paid my deposit. I received a confirmation email immediately after. An hour ago I received an email from Mark at Coral Breeze telling me that they are deleting my reservation because they will only servicing two ships that day and my ship wasn't one of them. We were looking forward to using Coral Breeze, so this is disappointing. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a tour boat that will take us snorkeling to Shark Ray alley/Caye caulker?

  9. Hi, has anyone brought items to Roatan before for orphanages? Did you have any hassle's getting off the ship from customs? I've read that some people have transferred the items to backpacks and just carried them off without any trouble from customs. I don't think the items will be able to fit in the backpacks so we'll have to bring the large suitcase off, but I'm not sure if customs is ok with us doing this. I've tried calling and researching but still not sure what to do. Can anyone please share their experience? Did you receive any trouble getting off the ship if you had large suitcases with you? Thanks in advance!

  10. We sailed last year on the Dream and had an interior cloud 9 spa room. We enjoyed having the use of the extra spa amenities however our room was directly under the gym and the pounding noise was absolutely HORRIBLE!! Our room number was 11224. We found out that our room was directly under the weight machines and that even after the gym closed at night it would stay available for employees to use. The noise was nonstop! We went to guest services and thankfully they had one room available since someone didn't show up. We were so happy to move to deck 7. It was wonderful!

  11. Also, I forgot to mention, it went on all night as the crew were using the gym after hours! I am not a light sleeper but that didn't matter, no one was sleeping through that!

We had room 11224 on the Dream last year and it was the absolute most HORRIBLE room ever! It was directly under the gym where the weight machines were. We were also told that once the gym closes at night, it's available for the employees to use. The pounding noise lasted all day & night!! The first night we got no sleep. We went down to guest services a few times and they said there was one room empty on the entire ship due to someone not showing up. They moved us to deck 7 and it was wonderful! I'm so thankful that one room was available. I would suggest looking for another room if you can. I'd hate for you to have to go through our situation. I hope your cruise will be a great one for you!!

  12. I Recently booked a Western Carib cruise out of New Orleans for May 22nd. When we booked it was for early seating dining. Just printed out our documents and it shows "wait listed". We'll that's alright, we could just do anytime dining---not! That shows wait listed too. Does this mean we are destined to eat in the Lido as it is not an option for us to have late dining. mainly because my DW is Diabetic and we usually go to bed early. Do I have any options?

We were in your same situation on a previous cruise. What we had to do was go speak with the Maitre d the day we boarded. He was very gracious and put us on the earlier time. No problem! I hope it works out for you also!

  13. The same picture has been on the web cam for the Triumph for days now. The ship tracker shows it's in the Bahamas. Can't wait to have the Triumph back in New Orleans! Since we're up at 5am usually, we'll hopefully see her on the way into the port of N.O. on the 4th.

Hi Carol and Don! We're from Chalmette! We're sailing April 8th. It would have been nice to have met some people from the Parish on the Triumph. Enjoy your cruise!!

  14. Crewsweeper, you mentioned that you know the owner at Nohoch Kay, would that be a good choice as well? We found Nachi through Island Marketing and were very pleased, so definitely open to using them again. Also the rates look good. A lot seem rather expensive for a child, but they seem reasonable.

I know weather conditions are always changing, but we would like a nice beach for our son.

Are Nohoch Kay and Nachi the same place?
