  1. We have booked a cruise on Sky Princess, is it possible to book once onboard a table for 2 in the Main Restaurant at the earliest available time each evening with the same waiters, due to medical needs this would help us a great deal. We have cruised with Princess before when you could request this on booking. Can you have the Medallion App on just one mobile and is it easy to use. We are from the UK and will be boarding in Southampton. The ship looks amazing and so excited now we have booked .
  2. Thank you all for the information , looks great to me .
  3. Asking for a relative, are there many children on Queen Victoria or Queen Mary2 Cruises in August ? And what facilities are for 9 year olds?
  4. Thank you to everyone for all the information. I am now on a mission to visit all the charity shops. I had been interested in Shein and Ever Pretty but the reviews were not very good. I miss Debenhams as it was my first stop for clothing.
  5. Hi we have recently been on the Queen Victoria and enjoyed all aspects of the cruise. We have now booked the Queen Mary 2 . I was very impressed with the standard of Ladies Dresses, but where can I shop for Cruisewear in the UK ? Most of our Ladies Dress local dress shops have closed so wondered where to look, Any advice would be most welcome. Also we love this Forum we have learnt so much.
  6. Thank you all for your experience of Iona, it looks like I will be able to let the staff at the door book me the same table every night at the same time as I am allergic to some foods and prefer the same waiting staff. I am so pleased you all enjoyed Iona .
  7. Friends our age (late 70’s) have recently been on a cruise on Iona, they said they had so many problems. The cruise had many children on board even though it was not a School Holiday cruise. They had problems every evening trying to book a table for two in any of the Freedom Dining restaurants at the first sitting, plenty of tables for 4 or more but tables for two always had a long wait. Speciality restaurants were also booked up. They said it was chaos everywhere. The problem I have is I need to eat early due to a medical problem, therefore on P and O or Cunard I always book early sitting and table for two. Could anyone who has been on Iona please give me an opinion of their experience on Iona , as I then can weigh up if I should change my cruise to Brittania (which I love) or Ventura please. Thus forum has always been a tremendous help to me in the past. So I am hoping regular P and O cruisers can give me their opinion .
  8. Thank you all for your help, now I can pack
  9. Hi we are on our first Cunard Cruise this week. It’s only 4 nights but can I please ask any Cunard regular customers out there. Do most people dress up even on a 4 night cruise ? I have plenty of evening dresses but don’t want to look out of place, especially on the first and last night. OH always wears a jacket and Tuxedo on Gala nights. Queen Victoria looks stunning and we can’t wait to board. Sorry if the question has been asked before.
  10. Yes I agree we have to get used to this thing now, but what’s wrong with a bit of preparation beforehand. And to squash people together waiting for the restaurant to open, even queuing on the stairs was very uncomfortable. But we all have a choice and mine will be with the cruise company that I feel comfortable with. So sad that many cruise regulars are now afraid to go on a cruise ship due to this pandemic.
  11. Looking forward to seeing how your cruise compares to our last 2. On Ventura in September, very quick checks and questions as to our Health, seemed to not be enough. No Masks worn by most passengers, I arrived home with COVID. Came off Brittania today, again the checks done before we boarded were not very good we had all the paperwork but nobody wanted to see any of it. No masks again even in queues and the Theatre, lots of coughing and we arrived home and my husband has Covid. I feel that testing should come back for all cruises , the staff still all wore masks. so I’m interested to see how your cruise is now all have been pre tested. I do hope you have a lovely cruise.
  12. I can only say from my experience on Ventura that we didn’t have a problem due to the staff being so helpful , they are used to some people struggling so go out of their way to help you. We had an enjoyable cruise , yes it’s not the same as before Covid but to be waited on by Staff having to wear masks all the time , we felt for them, and they are trying to give you a great experience .
  13. Just been on Ventura, you need to go to your Cabin first as your cruise card is in the slot outside your door and you need the last 6 digits on the card to log in.Then you need to go to your muster station to show your cruise card but on the way you will see on Decks 5, 6 or 7 help desks , just give them your phone and they will sort it all for you including booking anything ie restaurants, theatre etc. I too was so worried when I boarded as I had read some people can do this before they board, this is not true. Don’t worry once onboard the P and O staff are so helpful, I spoke to many people who like me had been worried, so I’m glad I can stop anyone having to worry. The Guy I spoke to even put the icon on the front page of my mobile so I could see it everyday. Enjoy your Cruise , we are on Brittania soon and it is great to know how it all works.
  14. We have booked a 4 night Cunard Cruise in November on Queen Victoria, after seeing the reviews we couldn’t wait to book. This forum is very helpful for us being new to Cunard. I have seen on the reviews the wonderful Theatre and the Golden Lion Pub, and the Queens Room. Are there any other entertainment venues in the evening ? We have booked a Balcony cabin . We would be grateful for any advice for 1st timers.
  15. Thank you TigerB I had seen on another thread that someone had managed to book every night in the Theatre on our cruise. Hopefully as you say we will be able to book onboard. We love the Theatre and loved it when you could just turn up, I think P and O need to change back to how it used to be.
  16. Thank you FangedRose that’s so helpful.
  17. So I’ve tried to book the Theatre on my cruise next week on Ventura, at first it lets me book 3 nights but not the first night so I called P and O , and the Guy said all the shows are fully booked ! When I explained my problem he said when I booked it hadn’t gone through and it was now fully booked , so there was nothing he could do. I cannot believe it’s all fully booked even before you board. The P and O Guy also said it’s probably an error on the website and not to worry. Has anyone experienced this at all ? We thought we would give P and O a try, not impressed at all.
  18. Going on Ventura next week, the website is not allowing me to book the Theatre for the first night but I can book for all the other nights, has anyone had this problem on a P and O Cruise ?
  19. We have decided to book a short cruise on Queen Victoria for 4 nights. Will there be a gala evening on a short cruise ? Having been with Saga for a few Cruises we find the all inclusive drinks option not suitable anymore, with very limited wine choice, as one lunchtime I asked for Rose Wine and they had none ! So we would prefer to have more choice. Does anyone have any tips and advice for our first Cunard Cruise please. Are the plug sockets English . We are booking a basic Balcony cabin. We have watched some You Tube reviews and the Queen Victoria looks very nice.
  20. Is there a formal night on a 4 day cruise ? If so would a smart Jacket and tie be ok for Men
  21. Cruiser5137 , Thank you for your helpful advice, the Retreat sounds ideal, exactly what we are looking for .
