  1. I budget and plan just fine, yet I still use this program.

Do you have a savings account? Why? If you budgeted and planned accordingly, there would be no use, as the money would be in your checking account at any time.

    Exactly, lol

  2. What a terrible program that serves no real point. Just budget your expenses and plan accordingly. You really need carnival corp. to hold your money for you?

No need to be rude, some of us just prefer to plan ahead and have everything paid for when we get on the boat. It is called being finacially responsible.

  3. So is it correct I can purchase OBC prior to my cruise? It is really a shame CCL does not let you pre pay the Cheers program. RCCL and NCL let us pre pay and actually have "free" specialty and drinks on my August 2016 Breakaway NCL cruise.

Yeah it would be nice for carnival to let us prepay for it. This is going to my way of prepaying that way I can budget accordingly.

  4. I was told all excursions for 2016 are up but I do not see the discover Atlantis excursion. Does anyone know why it is not there?

It is much cheaper to do Atlantis yourself. Take a $5 cab ride to Atlantis, buy your passes there, and then take a $5 cab ride back to the ship.

  5. We only do YTD these days because we prefer having a table for 2 unless we meet folks we like and plan to join for dinner. Eating with strangers is not part of our fun cruise plan.

We always get the same wait staff each night by just asking for the same table or area. They always get to know us and we get to know them too.

It is up to you how you handle it but that is what we enjoy!

Do they have tables for two in the main dining room?

  6. I am trying to decide between Your Time dining and late dining. Is there any difference in the quality of service for Your Time dining? Do the servers dance there like the MDR? This will be my girlfriends first cruise so I want her to have the full experience. Thanks for the advice!

  7. Awesome! i havent cruised carnival since 2011. this was not available then. i was excited when i saw it in my shore excursions, but my boyfriend was like whatever.....he doesnt get on cc so he knows nothing. lol

Just saw that you had allready bought it! Good job!! Have fun on your cruise! I am 27 days away from mine!

Buy it ASAP! They sell out quickly and there is no way to tell when it will sell out. They only sell so many, and they base it off of how many Platinum and Diamond guests are on board.

  9. I tried to make a steakhouse reservation for the first night and have yet to get a confirmation. I called carnival and the rep told me an email would have been sent to confirm and to try again for reservation. Did it an hour ago and still no email. I really want that wine ;)

Just be patient, I'm sure the steakhouse manager will get back to you shortly. I took a few days for them to respond to my reservation. They offer free wine on the first night because no one books the steakhouse for the first night of the cruise. So I am sure there are reservations remaining. Also, depending on your VFP status or FTTF status they may delay your confirmation. Diamond and Platnium guests get guaranteed reservations, FTTF get priorty reservations, and then regular guests.

  10. As mentioned previously. They also provide 50% off of their wine list and the prices r very reasonable at all price points. Especially the high end wines.

Is it safe to say that Carnival doesn't jack up their wine prices like the rest of their alochol in the Steakhouse? We are dining at the Steakhouse our first night of the cruise and since we are white wine drinkers I was thinking about doing the 50% off.

  11. When reading the thread headline I was thinking, wouldn't this be for a Disney ship.

Omg I was thinking the exact same thing. The first thing that went through my mind is oh god you could never get me to board a ship with a Frozen theme. All though I guess any cruise, even if its frozen, is better than a day at work

  12. As one of the many starters of the "is it worth it" topic I must say this was extremely helpful. We have decided to opt out of the Cheers program on our upcoming cruise since we have 3 port days on a 5 day cruise. I will post the statistics afterwards to let people see if we made the right choice or not.

  13. Great! Thanks for the feedback... Hearing what I figured I would, stay with the Vista Balcony!

As a Platinum Guest all ready get all the priority perks like boarding, etc. so no reason to opt for a suite just for this.

Real quick... does anyone specifically know, in this room 8448 on the Conquest - I believe it is the top floor of rooms at the at end - so we should not have anyone "looking down on us" from above, is this correct.

I know on the back of the ship it is tiered in a manner that allows the deck above to overlook the balcony below, but I am thinking in this room (being the top one) this should not apply?

Deck 8 is the highest deck aft balconys go. I am not sure about the conquest, but I know there are no decks above that on the Sunshine for people to look down on you.

  14. Offensive is pretty subjective. Hip hop is offensive to me but not my son. 70s rock is offensive to him but it's what I love.

I think of the cabin/balcony as a getaway from the Lido deck. I love the Lido deck but when I want to get away from it I head back to the cabin for some peace and quiet.

Offensive isn't really subjective. Offensive music contains lyrics that could offend someone. In example: curse words, racial issues, sex, etc.

Your son may prefer rap music, and you may prefer 70s rock, however, listening to a "clean" rap song(which doesn't really exsist) would not offend you.

  15. Ok, so we are going to be traveling on the Conquest in two months. Will be like our 22nd cruise, but a new ship for us.

Today, I snagged a vista balcony room on the veranda deck that opened up all of a sudden. Never had one of these before so really excited! We have only done standard type balcony rooms in the past. My husband will sit on our balcony for hours on end and that is one of his favorite spots, so I popped the extra $400 bucks to upgrade from our standard balcony room to this one. Figured an 8 day cruise with 3 days at sea was a good opportunity to get the most for our money on this kind of upgrade.

Now, I have a quandary though, I realize I am only another $300 away from a suite price! Jr. Suite to be exact, and $400 for an Ocean Suite. I could pop for this too - again an 8 dayer seem the best place to invest... but I am not sure which is better? Never stayed in a suite either.

To be honest "inside" space as far as floor space is not really an issue for me (we have stayed in inside rooms, and I have been perfectly happy). The thought of that wonderful jetted tub though... love it.

Just looking for feed back on others thoughts of which they would choose, especially from first hand experience.

    Thanks in advance!

I can promise you there is no better view than an Vista Aft Balcony. If you want the greatest view stay with the vista, if you want a nice jet tub go with the suite. The suite also gets you some extra benefits like priority boarding, however, you can always purchase Faster To The Fun, which I highly reccomend.

  16. What you may want to do is have it on in the room and allow the music to escape out onto your balcony. That way you get to hear it but it wont bother your neighbors. Either way as long as its non offensive music and at a low volume it shouldn't bother anyone.

  17. Yes I did. She said the price should be $59.95. But' date=' I'm definitely seeing $49 on my excursion page.

Could I book FTTF under my wife, and, assuming I get it for $49, then cancel the first one I bought (under my name)?[/quote']

Is it really worth the all the hassle for an extra $10? If it is 5 days or more FTTF is now $59.99.
