I had two friends playing slots (with my money and my cards) while I played tables, all with the permission of the Executive Casino Host last week on the Dawn. It allowed me to finally hit Elite! Just ask at the Players Club.

Everything went smoothly, though I was glad we won our upgrade bid to a suite so I had help from the concierge and an escort off the ship and through customs (easy and painless).
The funniest part was being escorted behind the scenes and everyone looking at us wondering if we were being kicked off the ship!
If you have to do this, know that they will initially say no, but if you push and have any connections that can pull some strings, it can be done.

Has anyone taken a taxi from the cruise port to the airport? Looks pretty close, but I wonder about safety and convenience. NCL is offering transportation for $35, but that seems a little high for an eight minute ride.
Thanks in advance!

I finally got approval from NCL, but it was a difficult and painful process.
The original response was NO (“Based on the policies and procedures no exception will be done. Moving forward we no longer cannot accommodate guests disembarking or embarking on different dates.”)
After appealing to a much higher authority and checking with the Grand Cayman port authorities, I finally received this message: “Request for Ms. Dow to disembark in George Town, Grand Cayman is approved. Please advise guest she must have her original and valid US Passports with her as well as print-outs of her confirmation for her same-day flight out of Grand Cayman with her.”
Phew! I’m glad I asked for permission instead of trying to pretend like it was a last minute emergency. I’m going to be onboard for almost nine days of the eleven day cruise and I’m leaving to attend a memorial service, not to hop on another cruise ship.
Not sure I would have gotten the permission if my casino junket hostess didn’t have such good connections!
I’ll let you all know how it goes on January 26th!
Thanks for all of your messages and information!

Still waiting to know if anyone has an updated list of officers on the Dawn?

Thank you!
My TA is reaching out to NCL tomorrow to find out what needs to be done and to confirm that my friend can stay onboard after I leave.

Wait, so that means if my cruise leaves from Tampa and I disembark in Grand Cayman, I will NOT incur a penalty?

Right. That’s why I’m trying to find out here and not from NCL. I’m hoping someone has had recent experience with this.
Thanks!

Any idea who much the fine is? And will my friend be able to stay on board if I leave?

Has anyone ever left a cruise early, either planned or as a last minute emergency?
We had had a death in the family and the memorial service is going to be at the end of my upcoming cruise. I can’t cancel the cruise as a friend is joining me and because I booked through CAS and I am the primary gambler, she can’t go without me unless she pays the full fare. So I am wondering if I can leave the cruise at Grand Cayman and fly home from there and leave my friend aboard the ship.
Anyone have any experience with a situation like this?
Thanks in advance!

Any word on who the current Concierge is on the Dawn? Still Leah or is Roel back?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone know who the officers are currently onboard the Dawn? Did anyone attend the CC M&G and pick up a card with all the names or perhaps take a picture of the wall outside the wine bar with the pictures of all the officers?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I was wrong about #2 - dealers do NOT hit on soft 17.
I was also informed that if you are a high roller, you can request surrender at your table but it needs to be worked out in advance.
Any other questions I can answer for you (hopefully correctly the first time)?

Anyone with recent experience on Crystal, especially Serenity? The last update was years ago, and looked good.
1. Blackjack payout?
2. Dealer hit on soft 17?
3. Surrender?
4. Still a pretty loose game? Can I use my BS card?
I play just for fun, but it’s more fun when you win!
Thanks in advance....
Anyone with stories on the slots are very welcome too!
Onboard now with a casino group, so it’s a pretty hopping casino this cruise.
1. 3:2 (happily Crystal has not gone to 6:5 like so many other ships, but no bonuses on BJ - no lucky ladies nor match the dealer)
2. Yes
3. No
4. Moderately loose. Tough sometimes though when they only have two tables open and one is $5 minimum and the other is $100! (What is a BS card?)
Crystal only allows you to draw $2K per day ($500 against your onboard account and $1500 on your credit card) and you have to go to the cashier and wait for the internet to connect for approval (slow internet = slow approval).
Slots are the tightest I have ever seen. I’ve played most of the machines and can’t seem to get bonuses nor anything larger than a $100-200 payout. I’ve seen a couple of $1K wins and heard (didn’t see) that someone hit $8K on a poker machine.
The casino staff is very nice and the drink servers are always circulating.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Same goes for the Dominican Republic and Honduras with regard to blood drives.
Can’t risk it, even if you don’t get off the ship; I asked. ☹️

The wine bar will probably be perfect for you. Gatsby’s is great, but can be hard to find seating for ten together.
Have fun!

Roel is standing next to me. He says to tell you he asked for an extension till Oct 27 just to see you.
John
Awesome!!! Please tell him how much I’m looking forward to seeing him!

Uniall, can you please confirm Roel will still be on the Dawn on October 20? I seem to remember him saying he was leaving before then ... ? TIA!

I’ve gotten to my last night of the cruise with extra dinners to spare and have had servers who let me pay for others with my extra meals. I guess it depends on the server.
