I wrote in a $2 tip on the receipt. Every time he saw me the rest of the cruise he'd shout out to me and waive. Needless to say, I had about 3-4 of those each night
A small tip goes a long way!
Funny how that works. Over a 7 day cruise I will tip my main Bartender an additional 50 to 100 extra.
-
Can you get doubles since that is less than $50?
Done been asked and answered and discussed

Yanno what?? This is totally my fault for not quoting the post that said you couldn't have ANY thing from the cheers package on debarkation day. I was trying to help others like myself that might want an espresso. My mistake no hard feelings have a wonderful day.
Well thanks. I have always just thought to grab breakfast and leave. Now that we might be able to grab a last milkshake or speciality coffee well it makes it that much sweeter.
Thanks.
-
Actually I was hoping for specialty coffee and juice. But thanks for thinking I'm a drunk
No problem. Considering your op was about 6 am to 6 am and the 15 drink limit. Now if you had of added that you would like to get a speciality coffee on the day of debarkation that would have put a whole different spin on it now wouldn't it?
Oh I reread what I posted and sorry didn't see where I called you a drunk. But if you think I did hmm..
-
This morning I called carnival to ask about the 6am to 6am. They told me that ONLY applies to the 15 drink limit. You can drink anything the day of debarkation. That's what she told me, hope she's right
Well if you really want the get your drink on before you leave go for it. Most people have place to go that requires a level of sobriety. And getting your drink on that early well...

i have read several pages of this thread, but have not been able to find a definitive answer to these questions.
1. Can i purchase an item that is not included with Cheers (beer tubes, drinks in souvenir glasses, buckets of beer, room service beer etc..) and have the charges added to my S&S card and not count against Cheers?
2. Can I purchase a beer (prior to reaching limit of 15) and put the cost on S&S card in order to save some of my 15 for later in the day?
First the answers are there but this thread is so long. Need another updated one.
1. Yes you can get souvenir glass drink and pay for them. And you can get the DOD in a regular glass if you don't want the souvenir glass. Not only can you get room service beer if you want to buy a bottle you can. Bucket of beer I gave heard if you buy one you could get 1 beer on your package then pay for the rest but YMMV.
2. Just keep track of your purchases. Ask each time before you order or some other method. At drink 13 start buying them that way if you forget you get drink 14. And if you forget again that's 15 and you should be cut off :) you can get more than 1 drink at a time 1 goes to the package and the rest you ate charged for. That let's people with the package buy a round.
Hope this helps. Have fun and drunk responsibly and don't fall overboard.

Because the tab is 0.00 and if you tip 1.00, then the total is now 1.00.
0.00
1.00 tip
------
1.00 total
Essentially, writing the tip amount twice.

Had to look it over more than once to see what you were meaning.. you write the tip amount and then when you write the total it is the same as the tip so you are writing the amount of the tip twice. Because the drink charge is 0.00. I just hand them a buck or a two dollar bill and call it a day.
-
You write in additional tip (if adding one) and then total it out.
Why do you write the tip twice?
I think because you are charge 15% when you purchase Cheers. Some people don't tip any above what they are forced to pay. And some even go the last day and have the Automatic Gratuities removed.

I drink Long Island Iced Tea's and I want to change up the liquors.
For instance, this is what I want:
swap the Beefeaters for Bombay Sapphire
swap the Sky Vodka for Grey Goose VX
swap the Bacardi Rum for Appleton Estates VX
swap the Hornitos Tequila for Patron Reposado
This would bring my drink up to $44.15 still under the new limit BUT will the bartenders actually make my drink like this and let it fall under Cheers?
You see, my thinking is that they may say that since I'm changing up the "original" spirits, it's no longer considered a Carnival Cocktail.
Well that is interesting. I would say that it would be fine. I have been in a bar where it Saud tge Gin & Tonic was made with Beefeaters but I asked for a Bombay & Tonic no problem. So as long as you order the long Island ice tea and just changing the liquors not telling them to double it up I don't see a problem.
Besides it doesn't hurt to ask.

and cash is kept by the server you hand it to.
That is why I bring an extra $1000.00 in cash on a cruise. Part of that is 100 $2.00 bills. Those are some of the extra tips I give to bartenders and bathroom stewards if they have them. Some do some dont. The rest is in $5.00 and $10.00s with a couple $100.00 those are for the waitstaff and room steward if they have did a great job.

Cheers now includes up to $50 drinks, correct?
Which drinks cost $50??
That will be the what I will search out when I sail. I have heard it is a Cognac.

We are booking a 6 day cruise in Nov, two cabins, we are traveling with our teenage boys. Has anyone split the cabins, one adult in each, and bought cheers for one cabin?

IMHO with the 15 drink Maximum if both of you drinking and you don't go over the Max. Go for it. That's what I don't like about Carnival. RCCL, Princess and others don't have that Maximum so on those I would suggest you to buy the package for both.
-
Not to far back what is included and not include has been posted. I personally have seen the list posted over 5 times. It also is real easy to Google Carnival Cheers and get a list of everything that is included and the cost of the program per day if you pre-order it or wait to order on the ship.

Do the beers on the Conquest usually come in bottles or cans?
If bottles, was thinking of getting some of these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/131510331382?lpid=107&chn=ps
So if I cant finish off my 15 drinks I will get the remaining ones and take then back to the room for the next day! :-)
Those will not really do much. The beer when opened will release Co2 and build up pressure and pop those off. You need the ones that expand inside the neck of a bottle to keep the pressure inside to inhibit the release.

And after spending most of the day updating, calling carnival, and searching through for new FAQ to add, I remember why I didn't update it last time.
The forums don't allow the thread to be edited after a certain period of time... which is clearly shorter than 40 months.
Start a "The New Definitive Cheers" thread and post it here. Ask the administration to lock this thread after you post. That way people will not be able to post in this one and the last post will link to the new one.

Earlier today there had been a thread stating they now accept gift cards for Cheers (with the screen shot from Carnivals site). I went to see for myself and at the time it did indeed state you needed to call the # to use the gift card for purchase. It is now no longer there, so clearly an error on their web-site unfortunately :(
Yes that was part of the round and round a few weeks ago.
-
Thank you!
Hey just curious... why the name? Mine is because my last name is Bugg.
-
And you can now prepurchase CHEERS! using Carnival Gift Cards!
Us gift card users used to have to pay the extra $5/day on board!
Unless they have changed in the past couple of weeks this is inaccurate. Try calling and doing it. Not just calling and asking if it can be done. This is a topic that went around and around a few weeks back. Until someone acutely tried it.

On a 7 day cruise with 4 ports that are docked for 8+ hrs each (cozumel plus cruise) did you find it still worth it? were you still spending 50+ a day on port days? or did you feel compelled to buy more to justify the expense? THats my concern. I know we would spend that on 3 of the 7 days. But the other 4 days, we will have far less time on the ship to drink anything let alone alcohol drinks.
I am in the 95%... ok that is something you have to decide for yourself. As for me I worry about the 15 limit. On a port day I normally have a mamosa or ballini during breakfast. And I grab a drink when I get back onboard. During dinner I will have a glass or three of wine. Then after dinner coctails. By then I will have had 9 drinks on a port day.
On a 7 day cruise with 3 ports 1 snorkeled 1 scuba dived and 1 island tour I averaged 11 drinks a day on RCCL. I normally don't drink that much but it is a vacation and I have a high tolerance to alcohol.

On a side note, I never believed in taking my passport ashore because of pick-pockets but I think I will now invest in a body pouch.
Just put it in your front pocket. Be aware of your surroundings. No worries.

With 15% gratuity added if you purchase before your cruise is is about 57.45 pp pd. If you purchase onboard with gratuity it is about 63.20 pp pd.
Keep in mind that you still pay 15% gratuity on all drinks if you don't purchase the cheers package.

If you book a cruise line excursion and it is late the ship will wait for you. That is part why they charge a little bit more. Think of it as insurance.
Here is a good article. There is also a short video interview with John Heald watch it. I think it will answer your question.

I assumed the cruise lines had a protocol and were prepared for these circumstances. It sounds like they are not.
Yes they have a protocol setup. They have a digital clock as you are getting off the ship that is set to ships time. They also have it listed when you book between what hours you are at each port. They also put it in the daily platter. Also when you are leaving the ship they have it listed as to what time to be back onboard. After that you are responsible to be back on time or the boat sails.
What more do you want? Should they be responsible to get you to the next port if you don't get back in time?
