  1. They don't do this as of when? On two of my cruises over the last 20 months they did do this. I was taken by surprise when the price of the shots (and shot glasses) were on my S&S account even though I had CHEERS!.

Anytime anything isn't free/included they make sure you understand that there will be a charge on your account and how much it is. They told me 4 times 4 different ways to make sure I understood there was going to be a 3 dollar charge for the souvenir shot and shotglass. On Crown Princess in the MDR they have you sign a slip of paper. So if a person doesn't know there is a charge it's not for lack of trying on the ships personals part.

  2. Can anyone please tell me the total cost of the Cheers package

Are you charged 6 days or 7? The program begins on the embarkation day but does not include disembarkation day? So confused.

402.15 pp for a 7 night, 8 day cruise. The 8th day is embarkation morning.

I think that is where people get confused. embarkation is the first day of a 7 day cruise. and disembarkation is the morning of the 8th day and the start of the next cruise. So you are not charged for the 8th day.

Another way to look at it. Your cruise starts on Sunday at 12:00 when you first get onboard. It ends the next Sunday at 08:00 when you leave. So you are not charged the day you leave.

  3. This is how it worked in the beginning, but now you are cut off after 15 drinks in the program. You won't have the option to purchase any more drinks after you reach the limit. In my experience, you can purchase drinks at full price for a "friend" before you hit 15 and it will not count towards your total.

You are absolutely correct. I just called and asked.

  4. From all that I have read online. Once you have reached the 15 drink limit the bartender can sell you more drinks if you have not reached your alcohol limit. Meaning if your not inebriated. If you are drunk you will not be able to purchase more.

Also if the bartender determines you have reached your alcohol limit before you reach the 15 drink limit you will be cutoff. Also you will be kicked out of the cheers program and the remaining balance will be refunded to your account

  5. 15 beers may be easy to drink in a day while on vacation, but I personally could not drink 15 beers a day for fourteen days straight. For me, Cheers wouldn't be worth it on this long of a cruise, but like I said, that's ME.

I agree a 7day is as long as I go to get the package.

  6. I'd rather schedule my dining time to arrive early enough to get a select seat then have them place me in a reserved seating section.

What's to keep people from reserving a seat, arriving early to select a better one & not scanning in for the reserved section? .

    1. The only RESERVED section is a small sorta prime area that is sectioned off from the WHOLE area with crewmen in the area making sure only suite/Diamond guest can sit there. Other than that the Reservations you make get you into the venue. You walk up to the door your card is scanned. They can see if you had made reservations for that show or not. If not then you have to wait in line until about 15 minutes before the show. If there is room you are let in. If you had made reservations you are let into the venue and you can pick whatever seat us available except for the small area that has been reserved for suite/Diamond. And even those become available at 15 minutes before the show.

To try and clarify again. You do not reserve a seat. You reserve a show time and all seating is General Admission. With a small section that is further reserved for suite/diamond guest. At 15 minutes before show starts it then just becomes general admission for everyone else who didn't make reservations. On a first come first serve. And if you are a Suite/Diamond guest you can still sit wherever you like if you don't want to sit at the section reserved for your status that is OK to.

  7. I would like to thank everyone for their input. I know some don't like the reservation and that's ok. I personally do as it is a way that I can make sure to see the shows that are offered. But my opinion is based on my current cruising experience. Once I have cruise Princess in February I might have a difference of opinion. I bought 100 shares of CCL thinking I would cruise more on Princess, Carnival and Cunard. We shall see how it goes.

  8. Letting people make reservations would only create more problems with the seating in the show lounge just like the dining rooms only vacant seats in the show lounge would never be able to be back filled. People would make reservations & change their minds just like they do for the dining rooms.

Leave things like they are now & let the first arrive to get the best seats. ;)

When you make a reservation you don't get to pick your seat fyi. Also at about 15 to 20 minutes before it starts they open it up to everyone. It is nice to know that on this day at this time I will be able to get in and watch that show. Not be disappointed by getting there only to find out it is full. All the reservation does is guarantee you a seat just so long as you arrive 20 to 15 minutes before it starts.

  9. I think you may like the walk in process. In the Princess Theater there are normally 2 shows per evening, sometimes there may be three shows. The times are normally 8/8:30 time slot and 10/10:30 time slot. Sometimes when they have a deck party or other ship wide late night party they run a 7:00 pre-dinner show. If you intend to go to the 8/8:30 show arrive 30 mins prior. This time slot is the most crowded and is especially crowded on production show evenings.Other times are not so crowded.

Thanks Sknight not sure how it will be but I will see. I don't really do lines if they move fast that's great if not I am gone to something else .

  10. I expect once you embark on your Princess cruise you will understand that RCI's brainwashing of their passengers into believing they need to pre-plan every minute of every evening and/or sea day activities and dining months in advance is at the very least totally unnecessary and more to the point completely counter to what it means to be on vacation!.

First I am a truck driver. I plan my day out, when I have to pickup a load. When I have to deliver. When I stop for fuel. When I am going through a big city. I try to time it so that I don't have to set during rush hour.

About 2 months ago I booked my February vacation for 2017 and I am working on the one for 2018. I plan ahead. That is just me, not a brainwashed RCCL cruiser. I like to know when the shows or events are so I can plan it ahead of time so that when I am on vacation I don't have to read everything in the daily papers to see what is going on and then find out that I missed something I wanted to do.

I also am sure that you didn't MEAN to be condescending but some of it came across that way. People are different and I have no problems with people who don't like to plan things and just go with the flow. I am not one. Or I should say I have became not one. Every minute I am on vacation is precious to me and I hate to waste any of it.

  11. I agree. I cruise the way I fly. First class is nice if I get bumped up there, but I'm not paying that much just to get someplace. And although we do prefer balcony cabins, we have cruised interior or OV to stay in budget. I would rather cruise more than pay suite prices.

Some of us are only able to take one vacation a year. I am a truck driver and I work 60 to 70 hours a week. We are slow in February so that is when we take our vacation. I only take at max 10 days so with a 7 day cruise and getting home before I fly then getting back and getting everything ready to go back to work I don't really have much time. So yes I will pay for a suite and I will take advantage of the perks I have paid for. Because I don't have the luxury of taking MORE cruises so the one I do take I want it to be the BEST.

  12. If it is that bothersome what others wear then the one's who are bothered might take some responsibility for their own emotions and eat somewhere else because life on a cruise ship is just to rough to bear.....but these 'WSIWOFN" are pretty amusing......:):D

Or in my case start looking at Cunard. Their non-formal nights are like most ships formal nights.

Men a suit jacket. Ladies Cocktail dresses or stylish seperates. Formal nights Evening wear consists of an evening or cocktail dress or smart trouser suit for ladies. *A tuxedo, dinner jacket or dark suit with appropriate neck wear for men or you may wear formal national dress and military dress uniform.

After 6pm, shorts and blue or worn denim sandals and sleeveless tops are not considered appropriate within the ship. On formal nights, any guests wishing to dress more casually are welcome to dine in the Kings Court or Lido buffet restaurant and relax in the Winter Garden or Garden Lounge bar, but should not use other areas within the ship, including Alternative Dining Restaurants, out of respect for their fellow guests. And the rules are enforced.

Even though most cruise lines do not keep to the traditions like Cunard does most everyone does make an effort to dress up more than other nights. I would say most fall in the suit and tie range or at least a dinner jacket. Myself being a truck driver or lorrie driver. I don't get to dress up often so I look forward to Formal nights so I can break out my Tuxedo and the DW her gowns.

  13. So Husky61 we get it you like to start problems. imho this thread was nice. people was giving their own opinions not forcing anyone to agree with them. Then you come along and start the downward spiral. If dissension is all you have to offer you might want to rethink your post. But it is a public forum. Hopefully people will see your name and ignore your baiting post.
