  1. If that’s the case it seems like a glitch and were I the OP, I would show up earlier over later.
  2. This is great news! And shall go a long way to make our upcoming pool deck experience on seascape all the more enjoyable.
  3. Neither of them have much shade at all on the sun deck. We have pulled up loungers under a slight overhang near the outdoor dining area and have had fellow passengers sit nearby eagerly awaiting our departure so they could capitalize on our sliver of shade. That said, we enjoyed Seashore far more than Seaside but it was largely due to the fact that the spaces outside YC were so much more pleasing to us. Seaside was the first in it's class and has some quirks as a whole that I didn't care for but have been ironed out on Seashore. Seashore has a wine cellar on deck 8 near all the other specialty restaurants and aside from YC itself, it was one of our favorite places to lounge for an evening cocktail. On Seaside the specialties are on deck 10 just outside the YC enclave and IMO the vibe was very bland. Some may really like the location though, because they don't have to travel far from YC to visit the specialties. Either way, you'll be on a cruise and you'll be celebrating a special occasion so in that regard, you really can't go wrong. Edit to say that both pool decks have pergolas with loungers. The problem for us was that the slatted roof didn't offer much shade. However, @morpheusofthesea had his butler weave an intricate web of towels through the slats. Perhaps he will share one of his pics.
  4. Sometimes they will delay embarkation if there is a coastguard inspection after a repositioning but that wouldn't be the case here. I have ignored the embarkation time assigned to me during the check in process for YC but I've never gotten a text telling me to hold off. There's likely a good reason but a quick internet search didn't yield any results for 11/10 that would hinder embarkation...like parade traffic or something like that. Not sure what to tell you...but in light of the text, I'd probably arrive closer to 12 than 10. Hopefully others will chime in.
  5. Im really confused by this thread title. I was prepared to comment on how to shorten a planned packing list....of which I have no clue because I waaayy over pack every. single. time. 🙃
  6. So very true! I have fretted over the years about this and that only to learn that the very thing I fretted over they don't even remember. One of my happiest moments was when my now 30 year old daughter referred to me as her first best friend.
  7. Yes. It builds character while DH and I have date-afternoon. But they are grown now…
  8. I checked in on line the other day for our December cruise and it wouldn’t let me proceed to the next page until I took a photo. And I couldn’t upload one (no link or button to do so). I was in my robe sipping coffee, hair in a towel and that’s what they got!
  9. I also thought you had your first/last cruise with Celebrity 🙂. I have done the first cruise of a new itinerary after a repositioning from Europe. The biggest hiccup was the coast guard inspection process which delayed boarding for a few hours. After that, it was smooth sailing. If there were new crew in place, and I think there definitely were, we didn't notice in lapses in service or skill set of the crew. However, the inspection process of a ship returning to the US from over seas was enough to make sure we never do one of those again.
  10. Have been on Seashore, Seaside, and Meraviglia. We were not allowed to enter with a drink on any of our cruises. Eventually we stopped going to the theater show altogether. Between bad behavior among fellow passengers during the show and having no drink in hand to boot, we now opt for music venues that offer cocktail style seating where drinks are at least flowing.
  11. In my opinion MSC should not charge to ship back to the OP. Once the bag is in the custody of the cruise line, they are responsible for what happens to said bag until it’s picked up by the rightful owner. I don’t believe it was found in Orlando/port Canaveral. I think that’s an error or someone is misinformed. As has been pointed out, PC was not the embarkation/debarkation port. OP said they were informed by email of the found case and were supposed to click a link in the email to arrange shipping. So no real MSC rep contacted OP. A convenient way to bypass a conversation about who should pay to have the bag shipped. We found your bag but accept no fault in losing it. Here it is and if you pay, we’ll ship it to you. Happy sails. Oh and this email has been auto generated so please don’t respond… Completely ridiculous, MSC! However, I would pay the $60 bucks to get my case returned. Then if I’m still in a mood, I’d pursue reimbursement.
  12. But then that would mean that he/she is also missing a bag. If they took a bag by mistake then they presumably left a bag behind. DH once picked up the wrong bag after a cruise. Didn’t realize it until he got home, which meant his bag was still at the terminal. He had to ship the wrong bag to the rightful owner and then pay to have his bag shipped home. Of course, it was his mistake so he took responsibility for paying to make it right.
  13. Wow! Great thinking..and just in time too! This is super helpful information that I’m tucking away, just in case! Thank you 😊.
  14. You guys were so smart to get tickets for a show! That sounds like a great way to kick off your cruise! Unfortunately our paths won’t cross this time as our cruise is 12-29 to 1-5 😞.
  15. Compelling arguments @Stem to Stern. As I am not a resident of Florida, parking is not a consideration for us. I can certainly understand how more convenient parking options could certainly promote favor of one port over the other. Thank you for offering a more local view of the scenario posed by the OP.
  16. Most of my cruising over the last decade has been on Celebrity. The only member of the crew to ever remember me was the sommelier in Murano on board Silhouette. Alas, I do not remember him and when I said so to DH he reminded me that it was probably due to the fact that I had been over served that particular night and instead of inquiring about the wine on offer, I asked the sommelier for mashed potatoes instead. 🙃
  17. This made me laugh out loud. I do love this phrase.😇 Thank you for this perspective. Hubby and I are both 1 suitcase plus and a back pack kinda packers. I can't say for the others. As the other two women in our party are perhaps more diva than me...we may just play it by ear. You're right...the weather will definitely set the tone.
  18. The drop off doesn't look very busy. Another thing in our favor with regard to traffic is that we embark on a Sunday. I assume it's lighter on Sundays than other days of the week? I like that the walkway from the ferry is covered in case of rain. Normally I would go for the UBER but there will be 6 of us embarking at once which would likely mean 2 UBERS with luggage. It just 'feels' easier to go the ferry route...not to mention cheaper. Thank you both for the pics! This does a lot to put my mind at ease as I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little intimidated by this embarkation...
  19. I love how many different crew go the extra mile to make a memorable vacation. So much so that so many cruisers remember their names and have personal photos. Not to mention how many of the crew remember certain passengers. It’s notable to me because I don’t see this kind of crew recognition and praise on other boards. Shhh, don’t let the MSC great crew secret get out!
  20. Well suite guests can check in any time so the assigned time is really just a filler. I can’t speak to the assigned times but I will say that we’ve shown up much earlier than our assigned time, fully expecting to wait, and have boarded literally upon arrival.
  21. So is it feasible to discretely leave the venue without being too much of a distraction? Or are there breaks between acts?
  22. We will be front and center on night one. How long is the show? 7 pm is too early for dinner so we will have to eat afterward. It’s always about the timing. Or maybe we will skip lunch and go for an early dinner. But embarkation lunch is my favorite thing to do to kick off a cruise. Decisions decisions.
  23. We always book our cruises with a credit card in order to rack up points and rewards. But recently I was reading about other rewards like access to pre departure lounges, added insurance, and other freebies that I may be missing due to using the wrong card. What is your card of choice and what are the fringe benefits of said card?
