This thread tickles me to no end. Everyone manages their marital dance differently. If you can enjoy your cruise, ENJOY your cruise!

For what it's worth...I want to take my grandkids on a cruise. They would NEVER act like silly people or forget their "Super good manners". I have extreme confidence they may act better than other grownups in the room. Dum dums and yeah they like steak!

Call it a "seniors menu or kids menu* and I'm all for it. I hate to waste food, and I just can't eat all that anymore.
And NO its not about price, I don't care about that.

I laughed. And then I felt bad. Then I checked the almighty Google and she didn't kill her self. I watched and laughed again.

Alaska! A cheap aft balcony and free specialty restaurants.

Wow I thought it was just me. So far only a very few of the Freeport excursions interest me. Not sure I want to try any.

Thanks everyone! I think the best advice I've read so far is to pack my good attitude. Thus said, they'd have to work hard for me to have a bad time. I cannot wait!

Any new positives out there? Our cruise is now 129 days. Still seems like forever. I'm even more excited. I've read thread after thread. It seems a lot of the disappointment comes from high expectations vs reality, or perception of that reality. I'm pretty easy going/go with the flow. Give me a lobster bisque or a good chili dog and I'm happy. Now if they run out of wine, I gotta improvise...

I just booked a cruise, and I'm in a 4J handicap cabin. I was the last to book, and was told would be the first to get bumped. I don't have a problem since I can only go up. My question is, where did you end up, if in fact you got bumped?
Hello darling. I am far too lazy to read this whole thread. However, I'll add in my two cents anyway. Thirty years in the hotel business. Did we bump guests to accommodate those that needed handicap accessible rooms? Absolutely. Did it happen often? Maybe five times in the last 15 years. Was either guest unhappy with the resolution? Never. There is a person somewhere looking at all that, believe it or not. It is in the proprietors best interest to ensure both guests are happy. Don't know that you will get a suite, but you will always get comparable accommodations. Happy sailing!

If sheets are truly a concern, use a regular pencil to mark a corner. This is the trick hotel housekeeping inspectors use. Obviously changed sheets, or not. And washes right out in the laundry.

I can understand liquor bought at port, but i thought liquor bought on ship was overly expensive?

I'm okay with the water, I already ordered it. But does this mean the bottle of vodka I order for my room won't be given to me until the day I leave? That's pointless. Im an extremely unpleasant person in the morning until I've had my coffee and bloody Mary. I had planned to bring my own veggie juice and have my morning drinks before leaving my cabin. Just to be considerate to my fellow cruisers, of course😁

Oh for Pete's sake, I never thought I needed shorts! Thanks for cluing me in!

Oh no, I have a B2B on Glory in Jan-Feb '16...... I'll complain on board if this is still happening then.
This. Totally this.
You can't expect people to take the muster drill and their personal safety seriously when the CD obviously doesn't by using the occasion to make a sales pitch. -
I just saw my 13 year old neices first formal. I now what 'too prommy" is now. Though she did look lovely. Very sparkeldy!
-
It's silly, and I hope it's fun. I want a ship on a stick! Wish my DS was crusing with us, he's a walking encyclopedia of useless knowledge.
-
If I want to attend formal night, its either my basic little black dress or go shopping. I've been out of circulation too long. Can anyone explain what is "too prommy"?

I worked in hotel revenue management for 29 years. A front desk attendant that will question a qualifying identification are even fewer than the ones that will ask for in the first place. They're underpaid, overworked, and expected to go above and beyond for every guest. I'm not saying it can't happen. But it's a rare occurrence in my experience.
-
There seems to be a lot of listings for that area. Google FEMA Hotels and use the hotel search function. Each hotel will list extra perks and usually what qualifiers they will accept. Hope this helps!
-
True "Government Rates" are listed by hotels that can meet the standards required by the government for travel stay and reimbursement. They have more to do with the condition of the safety features than anything else. Hotels submit these rates once a year. Front desk attendants often won't ask for any government identification. However, during a high demand period they may be directed to do so. As long as your wife has some type of state or local government I'd in that case, it's fine. If she doesn't, worst case scenario they will tell you you do not qualify for that rate and will quote you a higher rate.

I wore nothing but blue, black and grey for sooooo long. I got rid of all but one skirt, one pair of slacks and my favorite little black dress. And I really am buying a pink flamingo shirt for my cruise. Maybe a purple hat too😜

This is the first I've read of "cruise cough". Were going on our first cruise this fall. My allergies already give me a nonstop "kitty cat" cough on bad days. Allergy meds are a given, but what type of cough meds should I pack? Just a suppressant or might we need am expectorant?
