The included Surf internet package does not support WiFi calling or streaming content. You need to upgrade to Stream for that. Never had an issue with FaceTime.

Interesting, wonder how the stop protocol works with their equipment - off to TOR to do some reading

Royal has Voom Surf (basic) and Voom Surf and Stream (Upgraded), we also got WiFi calling to work with basic Along with WhatsApp on Surf for video calls.

  2. Booked Sept 25th on Edge from FLL

Only Celebrity cruise was years ago on Summit with Kate prior to update, coming from Royal as Diamonds, so I need to research and have questions.
Got 6:30 dinners except for 1 - 7:30 and doing all the free throughout the week and only Cosmo once. Any thoughts on menus or venues?
We have drinks, wifi and gratituies included but I see a $12 upgrade on drinks, I don't think we will use it as we don't drink alot and basic drinks should be enough. Need to find menu.
Basic internet we know is spotty but allows WiFi Calling on AT&T with IPhone and any Video calls need to be WhatsApp as it suppresses the data, FaceTime is useless.
Anyone with Edge experience have suggestions?
We are avid on Royal so St Thomas we usually go to Coki, and St Maarten with either be Maho or just to Hard Rock area beach.
Nassau is a new port for us so I need to research it.
Also do we know yet if we are able to still travel on our own and shop at ports?

We have Vision booked for Oct. Reading between the lines I don't expect it to sail.  But if it does and ends up having the same mask protocols that they have announced for every other ship we are out... At this point I just want it cancelled so I can book something else.

I am actually thinking the other way, I am thinking IF San Juan allows Vision it will be at full vaccination rate and therefore possibly no masks.

Either way its getting awfully close.

We have vision booked for October 10th and the cruise planner is showing everything from drink packages to dining to shore excursions available to book (129 different excursions available). I have my doubts that vision will sail but I'm not losing all hope just yet.  The explorer was supposed to take over the San Juan routes end of October after being in Galveston till then but the Galveston cruises were switched to the independence so I kinda wonder if they may cancel the Sept and October vision sailings out of San Juan and bring the explorer down early and transfer everyone to it. Supposedly the bigger ships are more efficient to operate. Could that possibly explain why you see nothing on your cruise planner for the vision repo in November?

We have Vision booked on Sept 26th and Explorer on Thanksgiving week.  Looking at packages the discounts have all been removed from Vision and still exist for Explorer.  So maybe Vision is getting cancelled which means I need to prep for changes but honestly if it happens I will be looking at an all inclusive most likely.

Vision (and possibly Explorer eventually). I expect San Juan to be one of the last U.S. ports for sailings to resume from.

I have Vision booked Sept 26th for wife and I, and Explorer for Thanksgiving week for us with 2 adult kids.  I already have airfare, Southwest from Pittsburgh to San Juan cost us $5,000 for the 4.

So I am impatiently waiting to see what comes from Puerto Rico.  My assumption it will be full vaccination required to get on ship which would be amazing since no kids under 12 will be vaccinated.

I am currently making backup plans for other cruises and All Inclusives if these drop from San Juan.

  6. When Royal cancelled Vision out of Bermuda and recent inklings of good news, I booked this morning.  Balcony room for 2 for $2200 and I get back $250 back in credits thru my credit card and https://www.lolli.com/ using online TAs.

I also booked my flight to SJU via Southwest the day before with points thinking at least I can change and cancel and it only cost us $10 for fees.  I did this out of Pittsburgh since Friday night before wife and daughter has a Celine Dion concert right now and I just figured I would tag along and have daughter drive us to airport.

I booked the Hotel in San Juan at the Airport the night before as we arrive at 8pm and we know San Juan well, but it was $275 for a refundable room rate til Sept 24th, WOW.

I haven't booked return flight as I am looking at United into our regional carrier and that means change fees.

From this point it looks as if San Juan only requires a clean PCR 3 days before, and I am vaccinated with J&J as is my wife.

So let's see if this holds or if its cancelled and I head to another all inclusive.

    • Thanks 1
  7. As everyone else we had multiple cruises cancelled with RC and Celebrity but we took the cash so anything new is a fresh booking.

We have been doing All Inclusive Resorts since then with trips to Cancun in June, Sept, and Nov. and a recent trip to Punta Cana in April.

I am looking at Vision of the Seas on Sept 26th and the cruise rebooking for us is less of an issue that dealing with airfare to San Juan.

    Would you book?

    Yes or No

FWIW Celebrity stated the antigen test on board near the end of the cruise can be used to satisfy the airline requirements.

Clearly a social media agent doesn't have all the answers.  You raise a great question and now we must wait for Royal to offer an official answer.

The antigen works, for US - but are they giving it to people in time?

I am going to Secrets and this is AmStars site., they even offer 2 weeks free stay insurance if you don't pass.

    https://info.amresorts.com/coronavirus-covid-19-status

As part of CleanComplete+, guests may receive COVID-19 viral antigen testing on-property at no cost when traveling to valid countries including the U.S., U.K., Germany and Poland.

  9. Wife and I have J&J shot, we have traveled 3 times to Cancun since June due to no cruises and will be heading to Punta Cana at end of April.

I would really like to book Adventure in June but the issue that remains for us is the PCR test to reenter the US right now, most All Inclusives are offering this for free 3 days prior to leaving if you stay 7 days.

If the cruise ship at least offered and even if it cost, I would book but having to get off ship then go find one and hotel accomodations in Nassau or Saint Maarten is my issue.

  10. I am still short for June and buying more other puts for quicker dates on higher prices, My guess we wont be sailing out of US ports til first of September.  I also cant see the Kingdom buying up 10% stake with CCL on books.

We have already had 15Million people file for unemployment in US and I think we are going to see 10 Million more, people need money for houses, cars, and food before they fill up cruise ships.

Also the owner who was back filling debt died this week.

    https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/royal-caribbean-founder-dies-at-90/2218959/

US will be opening up to business soon with masks, no antibody tests, and no vaccinations.  They will not allow cruiselines in ports til we are further down the line.

Again my cruise on celebrity was cancelled, I took the refund (still waiting) I got a RCL in September and November and have only paid the deposit so far.  I am guessing its 50/50 chance for me to go in September.

  11. Looking at opening up more shorts.  I am losing my last one but it’s 10% of what I gained in profits.

jobs numbers this week is going to be horrendous and Bernie Sanders is fighting the agreement now about which corporations get money

also in just technical analysis former support is also resistance and that’s about right here

right now no cruises til May and numbers of people with Virus is gaining.  It’s going down

And this doesn’t include all the disposable income people are losing

Today the stock rose 30% after 2 board members purchases $100 million each of a $2.2 billion loan according to Reuters. One of the board members, Alexander Wilhelmsen is the largest individual shareholder with 11% of the stock.

It appears that he may know something we don’t!

That he is 90 years old billionaire, one of the cofounders and doesnt care if he goes broke.

Also just got the email for cancellations til May 11th, I am doing refund on April cruise and holding off for full payment til I have to for September.

  13. Price up on funding secured, this is bad for my short for now but good for the upcoming April 25th cruise I am assuming is being cancelled and therefore I am requesting my money back.

If bankruptcy and restructuring is a real possibility, then all the FCC are going to be worthless. Then thousands of us holding these FCC will be out a lot of money. But the time to start worrying about this will be when the stock moves towards worthlessness; IMHP this is not going to happen. Last week I had a buy at 241/2 and then changed it to 191/2 which I hope it never reaches!

    Hal

Right now RCL is a $6B dollar company who is $10B in debt.

Yes I am scheduled to sail on Summit on April 25th, I will not move my sailing as if Royal cancels I am asking for a refund. Right now I have 2 deposits of on RCL Mariner in Sept and Freedom in Nov.

I have a put call of $22.50 for June 2020, the volume is starting to increase.

If RCL hits $15, then it will be a $3B company with probably $11B in debt. Its only option is Bankruptcy.

Correct but also Airlines did a lot of buybacks, but in this stance of stock RCL might not have any other option but bankruptcy restructuring now.

I don't think RCL will become Zero.

Base on history from the two bear market 2009 and 2020

RCL High 33 and Low is 5 in 2009

I predicted the Low will be around 20 as the High of 2020 is 135

This is solely my own opinion and any one who follows this advise as investment will be on your own risk.

I was lucky to get out of this stock at $118

Looking like the 20 bet is right. My $22.50 put in June volume is picking up.  Looking like people rolling puts out a bit.
