  1. Hi everyone!

I've looked around the boards and can't seem to find any posts about people noting that they recieved an upsell call. I think this was somewhat common a couple of years ago. Is this not happening anymore? I can't really believe they would be giving out free upgrades (thought I know that does happen from time to time).

Anyone here recieved (or make themselves) and upsell call? If so, what cabin were you in and what was the offer? Thank you!

  2. This is 99% of the reason I book with a TA (the other 1% is the OBC he always gives me). But, even without the OBC, my time is worth way too much to sit on hold that long! The last time I had to call, I waited on hold 42 minutes only to be told when I finally got someone, "oh, I'm sorry, our computers are down...."

I almost threw my phone out of the window.

  3. I got this call AND text message today for my April 12, 2014 Pacific Coastal cruise. It was weird - the call came from 111111 and was an automated voice. During the call, I recieved five texts all at once that were part of the total message. Very weird, but I got the message and wont forget! lol

  4. Booked the Century for August 2014 a round trip from Vancouver. Skagway is not on the itinerary but Juneau and Ketchikan are along with Icy strait. She is not into zip lines.

Another question, regarding the nightclubs. Are teens permitted into the adult and visa versa if we want to touch base??

No, they will not let anyone in underage into the nightclub in the evening, no excuses. There will be security standing outside the club checking ID/scanning cards. I have seen them turn down many teens trying to get in. You should just plan to head out of the nightclub and meet her/phone your cabin to check in.

  5. No apathy here...just common sense enough to know that it is not a CEO's job to comment on something as silly as a website upgrade and a small problem. As far as I'm concerned, Celebrity is very well run and that any issues that do arise are handled right away by the appropriate personnel in the right fashion. No complaints here. Glad to see others feel the same way!

  6. I leave for the Allure next weekend and I'd be interested to know what people's experiences have been with the new alcohol packages? Any details are appreciated.

I was on the Oasis last week and didn't even hear about the package until the last sea day, randomly, from a bartender. He said, "I've seen you two at all the bars on the ship! How come you didn't buy the package??" To which I said, "after seeing my bar tab, you have to be kidding me..." We had been to every bar a couple of times on the ship and not once did we see or hear about this. The concierge didn't mention it either. We had a suite this cruise, so we did take advantage of the CL and the free drink happy hour a good amount, but if we had purchased the package we wouldn't have been in there nearly as much. Oh well - hope others hear about it earlier than we did! X's package still seems MUCH better.

  7. I hope so, but don't think it will happen quickly. Even on Oasis, the ONLY place on the ship you can get most of the beers listed is the Globe and Atlas. Not in the dining room or specialities, nor in any of the other bars. Kind of silly, but when I asked why, I was told it was due to the limited supply onboard.

Now, there were stories of amazing service where RCI staff went and grabbed a beer during a meal at the request of the guest, didn't happen for me though.

  8. No, those are part of the Beach Cabanas on the other side of the beach from the over the water and hillside cabanas (and those are brand new). They look somewhat high in that picture - but they really arent. The easiest way to tell is those have direct access to the water...the hillsides don't.

The hillside cabanas are between Barefoot and Nellie's...

  9. I've spent over 300 days on cruises and am a 31 year old single female. I've been on just about every line. My favorite now? CELEBRITY! Specifically the S class ships. I loved my celebrity Eclipse cruise so much in November that I'm back on the same ship next month. My experience has been a lot of fun, into nicer cabins/food, professional types were in the club each and every night. We were up until 6am one night living it up.

That said, I definitely think the time of the year AND the destination influences the types of people on board more than anything. I think for singles looking to have a fun time at night should do the Carribbean first. Holiday cruises are a great time to go since large family groups are on board and you'll find a lot of mid twenties-mid thirties out and about at night. My suggestion before you book any cruise? Go to the roll calls and read through the ages and types of people on CC that have already booked. I did that and found that on my February cruise, there is a LARGE group of wine lovers that are getting together specifically for this cruise and plan to be out drinking both before and after dinner. That sounds like my kind of good time so count me in!

    Good luck!

  10. I'm an ex-bartender, so I'll tell you how to make a Miami Vice. Unless you are at a stocked bar, though, they are the biggest PITA drink to make. Pour in a glass half frozen strawberry daiquiri and half a pina colada. Stir to swirl and viola! Yes it means making both drinks seperately....*sigh*

    Hope that helps...:)
