  1. I for one am glad that the thread has been resurrected. :D I have learned some things about the Bingo on Celebrity. One of which it is way more expensive than the cards played on past cruises. Have never played on Celebrity. Another is how the cards are paired and how the Jackpot gets as high as it does when published in the newsletter. I believe that is why I have been too intimidated to play the game.

Thank you Banana15 for spelling out the rules, cost, etc. of cruise ship Bingo. I may just play a round in a couple of weeks! :D

I didn’t want to start up a whole new thread when there was a Bingo thread out there. I thought we were supposed to try to keep it all in one place!

Yeah, I usually play Bingo for about $12 to win about $500...so paying $39 to win $100-$200 seems a bit steep...but I guess it’s about the fun. I spend a lot more than that in the casino.

  2. You could share a board by taking turns sliding the numbers that are called, as the boards are one piece so they cant be separated. If you buy the package that comes with the paper, you cannot tear them to share, this will void them.

We had quite a bit of OBC so we used some of it to play bingo, so that is one way you can spend it if you have it.

Prizes are always different, really depends on how many people are there and how much was spent on packages.

Usually is 3 games per session, the first was always covering the 4 corners, the second was a letter such as making an L or an X, and the last game is what they call a cover all (full card in my neck of the woods) Prizes usually are in the area of between $100-200 for the first two games.

The 1st bingo session of the cruise, the amount for the full card is significantly higher, but you have to get the full card in like 45 #'s which I will tell you as a bingo player is pretty impossible. The winner of this game gets a percentage and the money snowballs each day the full card isn't hit. (it goes up to 46#s next session and so on each day) The last day of the cruise that they play bingo which would probably be your last sea day is the day they give that jackpot away and on our last two cruises it was in excess of $1500. That is the day you will see hoardes of people playing bingo!

$1500 would be nice, but it almost seems like it's not worth the risk to spend $40 to only win between $100-$200. I do love Bingo though...:confused:

  3. On our Summit cruise last August there were 3 different prices points for bingo. One board with, if I remember correctly, 3 faces on it was $39, next was 6 faces at $49, and the largest boards were $59. The more expensive package gave you a sheet of 3 extra games (paper) to play on the last bingo game in the session. These had push-outs on the numbers.

You also got a couple of those tear-off games.

The boards are a heavy cardboard and have sliders to cover the numbers.

Pretty sure we only played 3 games per session and bingo is only played on sea days.

I'd assume bingo is the same on all ships across the fleet.

Thanks for the info! Are you allowed to just "share" a board? I mean, my husband and I play the same one?

Also, do you know what the prizes usually are? And how many games they actually play? Thanks!

  4. Don’t worry about the rules. Craps is easy. You put chips on the felt. Someone rolls the dice. Groans all around the table. Dealer slides all the chips into their pile. Repeat same process until you are out of chips.

Now THAT part, I don't forget. --- I never win! The only reason I like to play is because I can make $100 last hours, whereas playing slots, it's gone in 15 minutes.

  5. Banana, are you talking about those electronic ones in Vegas that are huge, with several people sitting around them, and a big dome thing in the middle?

I think you are going to be shocked by not only how big the Gym is, but how SMALL the casino is!

I've seen free on-line games for most casino table games, maybe there is one for dice that you could practice on before you sail?

Oh no! That small, huh? Lol! Yes, that’s the exact one I’m talking about. I don’t know how big they are in Vegas, but our casino here fits about 8 people.

I suppose I could try a Craps game on my iPad or something. I’m sure they have them.

  6. No one will yell at you, just maybe give you some strange looks. LOL

I love to play craps, but still have to think of all the rules and odds. The dealers will help you enjoy the game..

Don’t be shy and tell them you are novice players.

What might help you is a online tutorial game for practice before you go on board.

    Good luck!

We played a few times, but after a while, you forget a lot of the rules. That’s why we usually go to the electronic one first since it won’t LET you do illegal moves.

  7. I can’t say that I have ever noticed that the cabin is darker, but I mainly use my cabin to sleep in anyway!

The photo is of 1A balcony 9237.

You can usually find sun near the rail and shade nearer the cabin.

Thank you! Yeah, we usually use the cabin just to sleep as well. This is the first time we’ve been on a cruise with “at sea” days though, so I’m thinking we may use the cabin more than usual. Granted I would likely be on the balcony, but I’d hate for it to be super dark because there’s no light coming in. I actually do like the idea of some shade on the balcony though.

  8. We were in 9270 on the Silhouette and it was awesome with a huge balcony

Do you have any photos of the balcony?

Was it dark in the cabin since the balcony is larger? Did the balcony eat up most of the sun?

  9. He'll find the gym on the Equinox is well equipped with various types of equipment for his workouts.

Do you know if they have free weights? (I thinks that’s what you’d call them) I guess he uses the bar more often than not, but figured they wouldn’t have those on a ship due to liability.

  10. This may be an odd request, but does anyone have photos of the gym on the Equinox? My husband has been on a workout routine for about 2 months and he really wants to stick to it. He knows 10 days not working out will be like completely falling off the wagon. He just wants an idea of what type of equipment is available. Specifically for weightlifting.

  11. The OP commented on the sunlight on the hump cabins. We have a hump cabin on a slant, so the veranda is deeper than the standard ones...will that have a huge impact on the sunlight? I've tried to look at photos, but it's really hard to tell. Some of the cabins look pretty dark with that large balcony taking up all the sunlight.

  12. Depending on where you dock its only a 20, maybe 25 minute walk to the buoy. While most people will take the OTT, you would be better off hoofing it down there. Its only a few hundred feet to trolley stop #11 and while most people will be getting off, you can hop on and take the tour from there.

That is really what I thought to do from the get-go. I figured by the time I got there and got my picture done, I could get on the trolley from there and miss the crowd. That's what I'm hoping for.

    TY!

  13. Yeah - but they call it the Clinton Square Market and its not the typical "mall" I think the OP was talking about with Auntie Annie's pretzels, The Gap, etc but with local retailers. The exception being the Diamond and Tanzanite International shops that are in every port of call........

Yes, that is what I meant. I don't want a mall with chain stores....just something that will sell trinkets, souvenirs, even boutiques selling clothes...just no Auntie Anne's....although that does sound yummy right now :'):'):')

  14. Not really, but just head for the nearest corner, call them and they'll be there in five minutes. There are a couple different places you could dock in Key West that would drop you off in slightly different places.

Perfect. I’ll just call once we make it off the ship! Thank you!

  15. You can also call a cab and be there in five minutes - well before the trolley people and the rest of the walkers. 305-296-6666. Six bucks, maybe less.

That may actually be a really good idea! Are there usually tons of cabs at the port?

  16. Another vote for BO's. Garbo's is also excellent but they're a victim of their own popularity now. Be prepared for long waits nowadays there.

Long wait at BO or Garbos? We are thinking BO may be our stop. The menu looks good!

  17. I purchased our tickets from Celebrity so I needed to check in right when we got off the ship where all the excursions meet to get the sticker to wear.

I actually purchased mine through Celebrity as well. So do you think I should be able to just get my sticker first thing and then walk over there and pick up a trolley from there?

  18. It's 1.25 to 1.9 mile walk. Our tickets said 9:30-10:30 there was a trolley waiting & one right behind. Be sure to change your ticket right when you get off the ship before you walk down the pier. They will give you a map & a sticker to wear. It seemed like a long line but we probably only waited about 20 min at the most.

What do you mean “change my ticket?” The time?

I think I requested the earliest time, which was 8:30. But I called OTT the other day and was told the first trolley starts at 9 am. So I don’t know when I can actually get one. If I have an hour to kill, I can certainly walk over there, as long as I can grab the trolley from there instead of the port.

  19. We got off the ship right when it docked and took the Old Town Trolley. It took about a hour to get to the stop for the Southern most point. It was then about a block walk and there was a line but it moved quickly tourists were very helpful with taking pictures of others. There is a neat store at that stop that has all kinds of great ornaments and souvenirs.

What time were you able to get on the trolley? I was told the first one wasn’t until 9 am. We get into port at 8 am, so I’m wondering if I should just walk to SMP and then catch a trolley there. I don’t want to lose an hour but I’m not sure how long the walk would take either.
