  1. No, they do not force you do sit with anyone any night. You may be asked if you would like to, a polite no thank you, will suffice.

Be prepared as there may be a wait, pending on the time you arrive, yet you will receive your preference for a two (2) top.

    bon voyage

Thank you! Any suggestion for "safe times" to go where the wait won't be as bad?

  2. They have many 2-tops in the area near the stern.

So they won't force us to sit with other people every night?

I don't want to sound anti-social, but this is the first time my husband and I have been kid free in 10 years, so I want to enjoy as much alone time as we can.

  3. Anything that creates heat is apparently a no-no. Most people use a wrinkle release instead. We found this to work great.

I was afraid of that. I have a linen pant jumper and it is NOT forgiving when it comes to wrinkles. I know I can iron it at home, but as soon as that thing goes in the garment bag, it's over.

I may have to try the wrinkle release spray at home and see how well it works. If not, I'm going to have to figure out about the laundry facility onboard.

  4. We will be heading to Passions straight from our Trikes excursion and I wanted to see if there is any public restrooms near the restaurant that we may be able to shower off the sweat/elements from Trikes before changing into clothes for the restaurant. I originally wanted to go back to the ship and change, but Trikes is't schedule to drop us off until 5-5:30 and our reservation is at 6:30, so I don't think we'd make it.

  5. I MAY be getting too far ahead of myself here, but do any of the bathrooms near Passions have an outdoor shower? I'd even be willing to wear a swimsuit just to rinse off.

I am going to email Trikes and ask...but it would make much more sense to go straight from there to Passions.

  6. You don't have to get dressy to go to Passions. My husband only wears shorts wherever we dine in Aruba, and we spend several weeks there every year. We rarely see any men in long pants. I usually wear Capri pants to dinner, and some women wear sun dresses. You probably will see some women there in shorts. I just did Trikes two weeks ago. Each trike has a large compartment in the back that is big enough for a beach bag. I would take a change of clothes, definitely a brush , and change in the outdoor bathroom on the beach at Passions, or at their hotel at Amsterdam Manor. Since you are early, I suggest having drinks on the beach at their outdoor bar until time for dinner. You can have the driver from Trikes drop you off right there. They were dropping people off at various places when we were there. Aruba is very casual . You don't really need to go back to the ship.

Wow, so the Trikes people will actually drop us off at the restaurant?? Is it far from where they meet? That would certainly help out a ton. It would also save us some cab money.

Since we are going in the beginning of May...what do you think the odds are that we won't be all sweaty and gross from Trikes?

  7. I bet you can do it. Getting on and off the ship doesn’t take long unless it’s the very first time off in the morning, or the last group on at night.

If you get there at 5:30, and can change clothes and be out the door by 6, I can’t imagine it would take any longer than a half hour to get to your restaurant; the island isn’t that big.

I wouldn’t spend any time showering though, I would just change clothes, because by the time you walk through the ship, get to your room, change clothes and get back down to the entrance again, your half hour will be pretty much gone.

It’s better to try and make it to the sunset than to give up on it entirely, in my opinion. I also think it’s better to skip the shower in order to make it to the experience, rather than risk missing it because you want to look (or smell) better while doing it [emoji846].

My vote is for the experience, try to make it, and if you don’t, well, they’ll probably fit you in at 7 anyway.

I do really want to be able to get a table up front to be there for sunset. It's the only reason I didn't make other plans in Aruba. I feel like we could get onboard and get to the restaurant within an hour, but like you said, I think they may fit us in anyway if we were running a little behind. I just know that on Trikes we're going to be in shorts and sneakers and I really don't think we need to show up to Passions in THAT. -- I thought about just taking a change of clothes, but where the heck would we store them and even better, where are we going to change?

  8. So I'm getting close to sail date and I have to either confirm or change the time for our reservation. I'm still not sure which to do. I've thought to just bring a change of clothes, but after being on a trike all day and sweating, I'm not sure that's the greatest idea. I've never gotten on a ship and come right back off, so is it something that takes a while or is getting off quicker since there isn't a huge group trying to get off at the same time?

  9. I do it all the time, like Claudia said, use the outlets next to the desk, & I wouldn't plug in a straightener or curling iron at the same time as blow dryer... I've tripped the circuit doing that. :')

Yeah I don't even do that at home, so I would definitely not do it on the ship. I'd end up on the front page of the daily bulletin for them having to turn the ship around to get power back. :o:o:'):')

  10. That hair dryer will draw over 16amps, if the outlet in the bathroom is 20amps you will be in good shape. If they put in a 15 amp circuit your hair dyer will trip the circuit. Most hairdryers have two or three settings try using it on the lower settings and work up.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you!!

  11. The bathroom won't cut it - I bring my own as well and I just use it at the desk with the mirror. I pretty much take over that area - I clear the top and put my makeup mirror and dryer there, and my makeup in the drawer on a rubberized drawer liner so it doesn't roll all over. I think the outlet in the bathroom is only for shavers and electric toothbrush chargers, etc.

Thanks for the tip. I don't mind sitting at the desk and drying my hair...I'm sure my husband will appreciate actually having access to the bathroom...lol. I just can't use the dryers they provide on ships and in hotels. My hair is thick and curly and I'd be there all week just trying to dry it. Haha. It's also a pricey hair dryer so I don't want to fry it. I did that to my last one when I went to Italy. Needless to say, my hair was UP the rest of that trip :'):'):')

  12. Stateroom 9270 has the bed by the bath. If you look at any other stateroom on any of the S-Class ships and find any stateroom photos with bed by the bath, that's what your stateroom will look like. They are all the same.

Additionally, it has the largest balcony. If you look for any of the largest balconies on the slant/angle, all the huge balconies will look alike.

I was basically trying to figure out where the bed was, where the upper berth was (which I got the answer in another thread) and if there was storage above the bed still. I also did want to see the balcony size since I wasn't sure which ones would be similar to it. Thanks for the info about the bed being by the bath. I was under the impression it was once I learned the upper berth was above the sofa, but I wasn't sure until then.

  13. I’m amazed that anyone uses it at the price they charge . I was on msc divina from Miami this time last year and their top package only costs $59 dollars

I am NOT fond of paying $300 for internet. This is the first cruise we are taking with 2 straight at sea days though (two times), and our son is alone with my father-in-law, so I am too paranoid to not have a way to contact us in an emergency.

It really is crummy that it's so expensive though.

  14. On Celebrity, there are photographers at each port (usually two or three different settings) ad each evening - more, of course, on Chic Evenings but always at least one station. On Chic Evenings there may be four or five in different places. Photographs will also tour dining and other venues.

You can always refuse to have you photograph taken but there is frequently a queue waiting, especially on Chic Evening. Those with the full package make use of every opportunity.

My complaint is that the photographer do not appear to have caught up with the fact that so many people no longer dine at set times (i.e. early an late) and those dining at other times may easily miss their sessions. The photographers in port are not there all day but only at the times most people are leaving the ship. If you have not seen many, you may not use traditional dining and wait to miss the crowds before you leave the ship.

I doubt that it is the cruise lines you have used because we have had our photographs taken by (far more insistent) Carnival and NCL photographers when our Celebrity ship has shared a dock with one of their ships.

Do they tend to walk around on At Sea days as well? All my cruises have been at ports each day, so I’ve never done an at sea day before.

To be honest, we got married on our NCL cruise and the pictures were NOT good. We paid a pretty hefty price for pretty poor quality photos, so I’m skeptical now about spending so much money again for pictures. Buy if there is going to be a potential for a lot of photo opportunities, I don’t want to pass that up either. It’s always difficult to get photos otherwise, without having to bother random people.
