  1. Also, you state you are flying around Christmas. Just be aware that Norwegian has no interline agreement with any other airline, and they have a limited flight schedule.

This means if there's a problem with your flight, due to weather, mechanical or something else, Norwegian won't pay to place you on another airline.

You'll have to wait for an open seat on one of their flights, and at that time of year, it could be a long wait.

These are all good points for me to think about. Thank you all.

  2. I have been on 3 Princess cruises to Alaska. The dress is much more casual then other locations. As long as you show up at the MDR neat and clean and not wearing flip flops you are ok. No one checks to see if you have close toed shoes.

  3. Because of the speeds she is capable of running--26 knots cruising speed, over 30 knots when necessarily pushed--the Queen Mary 2 is no more out of evacuation range when on a Transatlantic crossing than the average Caribbean cruise sailing from Florida.

For the first 48 hours-plus QM2 would divert back to the Canadian Maritimes. Once further east in the voyage she could easily either divert to Iceland, or speed up and be off the coast of Ireland a good day and a half early. In most all cases the ship would get close enough for the patient to be transferred to a Coast Guard cutter or similar evacuation boat. Helicopter evacuations are actually quite rare (which is why the ghouls on here start a thread to morbidly speculate on the unfortunate person's condition whenever one happens) as such a stressful ride substantially decreases the survival rate even when compared to a slower sea evacuation.

  4. Ah yes, more information would be helpful. Around the week of Christmas and NYE I will be flying to London, not for a cruise. Probably Gatwick airport. I am hoping to use Virgin Atlantic because I have about 2k points with them. ( I doubt those points will go very far) i flew them once before to Gatwick in Premium Economy, my seat was in the "Bubble". It was ok. I just get antsy on long flights and i cannot sleep on planes. In May/ 18 I will be on NCL Epic and need to fly to Barcelona. I have been told that NCL's cruise/fly is not very good. When i cruise on Princess I use their cruise.fly plan and it is very reasonable. i live in Nevada so f i am going out of Los Angeles I use Southwest.

Thanks to everyone who has already responded.

  5. Often overlooked, in 1975, a lounge singer was murdered on the Sun Princess during a Mexican Riviera cruise.

The prime suspect was a band member, the victim's jilted lover. Fortunately, an LAPD homicide detective, who happened to be on board, determined that the real killer was a passenger, a car dealer, and the crime was solved before reaching port in Acapulco.

You are funny. That was a Columbo episode from 1975 titled "Troubled waters ".

Designer jeans? Didn't they go out of style in the early 90's?

  7. When we went to book our TA flight, it was cheaper to book both segments as a one way flight. The prices were very reasonable and we even upgraded to Business class and it was still much cheaper than through the airlines.

  8. We tip our room steward in cash in addition to the automatic tips added to you daily account.

We don't tip on drinks because it's already included in the beverage package price and even if you don't buy the package, a tip is added the charge of any alcoholic beverage.

For room service, we always give the food delivery person a dollar. Always tip in cash as that way the person will get the money in their pocket:)

I always tip the room service delivery person. I don't tip the bartenders unless the service is exceptional. I have pre tipped my room steward twice and they looked at me confused. I always tip them at the end. I wish I knew if they get to keep the cash tips they receive.

  9. You also need to take into consideration if she can bathe and dress her self. He will have to spend time standing outside lady's restrooms waiting for her to come out. There is a lot of walking to be done on any ships. The the major cruise lines I see people very very frequently in wheelchairs and walkers. He sounds like a very kind young man.
