  1. Keith can you recommend an area to stay in Singapore before the April 14, 2017 embarkation on Oceania Insignia? Yes we will take a taxi for 3 adults to the pier.

Oceania Insignia should be docking at Harbourfront Cruise Centre if I'm not mistaken. If so, you may like then to consider Bay Hotel which is directly opposite the cruise centre or Hotels at Sentosa. :)

  2. It was 60 SGD for a van to go from the Conrad Hotel to the International Cruise Terminal. We were not able to fit into a regular size taxi with three adults and luggage.

Yup that should be the "fixed fare" booking for larger taxi. Alternatively, you can have 2 taxis for less to go from Conrad Hotel to either Harbourfront Cruise Terminal or to Marina Bay Cruise Terminal. :)

  3. Just wanted to add how much we enjoy the subway. Very easy to use.

    Keith

We used the subway many many times when in Singapore. Great, clean, system.

    Thank you. :)

  4. I think that MBCC stop is fairly new, I don't recall it being there in 2013 when I was last in Singapore.

It's so easy to get around Singapore by MRT now. Great train system!

    And nice and cool.

A couple of times when I've been visiting Singapore and done some sightseeing that left me feeling very hot I've taken the long way back to my local MRT station, just to cool off and relax for a while. It was also an interesting way to see parts of Singapore that I wouldn't normally go through.

Thank you and yes it is fairly new, started operation in November 2014.

I had brought visitors to experience the "above ground" lines and they gave positive feedbacks. Most above ground lines will travel through residential estates. Do get the MRT Card for your transportation, you can use it for boarding the public bus as well. :)

  5. We are on the Golden Princess. Great to know that it is walking distance.

    Thank you.

Do note that not all the trains go to MBCC on the same line (Red line) on your return to the MBCC. Most will end at Marina Bay Station and should the train you take end there, you will have to wait a little longer for the train that will go to Marina South Bay Station. Happy exploring Singapore on the MRT. It can be quite fun. :)

  6. I hope someone can help us. How far is the closest metro stop to the dock in Singapore? We have a stop there, and since we have been there before, we would like to take the Metro to Orchard.

    Thank you

Which ship? There is the Mariner Bay Cruise Centre or Habourfront Cruise Centre and both are within walking distant.

  7. I'm a Singaporean and lived in California before. Singapore is probably very much safer than California. I'm not sure what you have read but whatever you read do note we don't cane genuine visitors to our country unless you intend to do similar what that American Michael Fay did when he was in Singapore. Most Singaporean felt that the number of strokes he got his caning shouldn't be reduced for what he did here.

As for medication, it had already been answered.

  8. Can anyone advice if it's feasible to get a 9:20 a.m. flight when our ship (NCL Star) is supposed to dock in Singapore at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 11th?

Not advisable. You need to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight. Also taking into consideration whether the ship will dock on time, disembarkation, immigration, waiting for Taxi, Singapore traffic etc.

If I may suggest, go book a Hotel room for the night (Airport Hotel) and take the next day 9.20am flight.

  9. We are looking as this cruise next year (13 Jan)and would greatful if anyone could answer questions or give advice on the following points or anything that might be of interest.

Port of call are:Singapore, Port Kelang - Malaysia, Penang - Malaysia, Langkawi, Phuket - Thailand, Phuket - Thailand, Singapore.

Nationality on board and what ratio? We are British by the way.

Ages on board, and there there many children? We are 50.

Ports?? good or bad ? Away from anything to see?

We have sailed with RC before so should be happy with the ship but any pointers would be good.

    Many Thanks in advance:):)

  10. Will the taxi be big enough for 3 people and 3 luggage?

Our friends from the US came with 2 adults and 2 kids with lots of luggage. :)They will know what to do and arrange for a bigger Cab. Oh yes, it is a separate counter, you need to approach them. It's located near the exit door and you can easily spot the signage offering the Limo Cab services.

  11. We have an 11.05am flight from Changi on the morning of disembarkation. What time should we ask to get off the ship? Does anyone know of a taxi firm we can pre-book?

If the "Q" for taxi is long, you can always take the Limo Cab at flat fare. (should be sgd$55)
